KOSA/the kids online safety act has been reintroduced into legislature after it passed Senate last year and then got snubbed. It is not unlike the bill that just passed in the UK a few weeks ago. If you don't want what happened in the UK to happen here, now would be a good time to vocally oppose it.

Here is a petition that can be signed by Americans. Attached to the petition is an easy tool that allows you to call and leave messages for your representatives. I have already done so. You can also email your representatives by searching for their name, most have message submission boards as well. This thing died once, it can die again.

TW: MENTIONINGS OF SA I'm flittering about in classic with my fiance. This is my first time ever truly experiencing it but I know enough of the lore to be excited about it. The one place we worked to get to specifically was in the area where you help Rhea. LORD ALMIGHTY was her dialogue/quest text worse than I remembered it. I had to take a break midway through because I broke down crying. She has you go take Nyxondras eggs RIGHT FROM UNDER HER and I just wept as she tried to fight back, but "collapsed in exhaustion." (actual text that pops up in the chat log) every time... Rhea herself admits to "encouraging her to lay eggs." that's a really disgustingly soft way of admitting to raping another dragon. She mentions wanting to "learn how they reproduce"... like bitch?? THEY ARE LITTERALY THE SAME AS YOU. They breed the same as you. And she DARES say that what she's doing might be cruel, yet what the CORRUPTED black flight did to them was worse? LIKE NO: YOU CANNOT, IN ANY GOOD FAITH, BIND AN AFFLICTED KIN, HAVE HER RAPED REPEATEDLY, KIDNAP HER EGGS EVERY TIME, AND EXPERIMENT ON INNOCENT UNHATCHED CHILDREN AND SAY THAT THEY DID WORSE... and even worse still: Claim "benevolence" in their flight. And every npc you work with that knows the Red Flight all praise them too... So I go forth into Dragonflight again and my blood boils at every word Alexstrasza speaks. She knew what happened to Wrathion. She knew, and does not care. If anything; it is a weapon against him to keep him in his place as THAT is what she cares most about. Not "All life" as she claims. They're a flight that favors the idea of "the end justifies the means" rather than actual honor and dignity. Ya know; the same shit they and SO MANY PEOPLE hate Wrathion for? Fuck the Red Flight. GOD THIS SHIT MAKES ME SO FUCKING ANGRY WHAT THEY DID TO WRATHION. THE RED FLIGHT AND BLIZZARD. Folks i apologize for my repeated ranting about this. But this is like.. one of the ONLY places I can. If i must become a rabid Black Flight fanatic, I shall happily.

Excessive Burnout

Dealing with mental illness is such a weight in general. With the rise of everything happening in the US; all the symptoms of my afflictions have only worsened and become more frequent. Even worse still; I cannot afford care... Not that I'd trust the system to keep me safe or help me anymore. The worst of it: my schizophrenic symptoms. While the scent and auditory hallucinations aren't as frequent, it's the phantom insects that make my skin crawl far too often. At first it was managable: A itch here or there on a spot that I could reach. But now? There's not an inch of me that isn't crawling. Trying to cope with this, along with severe depression, crippling anxiety, paranoia and psychosis has drained me. I want to look away and try to relax even for a moment; but I cannot. Every morning I wake thinking "What new hell has come?" I don't have the worst life. I have it easy compared to many. And if someone like me is struggling with all this; I cannot imagine the hell so many others are facing... And to them; you have my deepest sympathy. I'm so tired. I just want to relax, and distract my mind for even a moment. But I have lost that ability; my wonderland is corrupted and lost to me.

My followers know I hate talking about politics and current events, and generally refuse to do so, but this is important.

A bill has been introduced in the US that would make all pornography a federal crime. Owning it. Creating it. Distributing it.

Under this law, fanart of nude characters would be a federal crime.

Under this law, depictions of homosexuality or simply being transgender, would be considered pornography and a federal crime.

This bill is not going to pass.

However, the reason for this bill is to continue to push the "overton window". The reason for this bill is to make banning pornography seem more and more normal to everyone until they can actually do that.

And remember, they consider depictions of gay characters and transgenders characters "pornography" in any context, including platonic.

They have been working on this for a decade now and it has been working.

If you are one of the people in fandom who thinks that "nasty" porn on AO3 should be banned because it's "icky" or "immoral", then this mental scam is working on you.

Censorship is never about protecting people.

Censorship is always about control.

Do not let the rising moral panic affect your mind and make you weak to propaganda that lets others control you and control what you watch and read.

Do not fall for the scam.

When they say they are going to ban "pornography" it means they're going to ban anything they don't like by calling it "pornography" and they don't like you!!

To add: Media like this (From my perspective) is vital to us, as a community and a nation. It is, in my opinion, a critical right that we be kept PROPERLY informed with genuine and unbiased facts so that we may use the information to make better decisions to improve our future. Many of the shows that I remember being featured on there taught lessons in humility, true honor, honesty, neighborly care, empathy and critical thinking. All virtues that help us connect and be well in mind, body and soul. All of this, while also broadcasting informative shows. While I often gripe about the faults and dangers of the media, I strongly do believe in its critical contribution and influence on the masses. PBS is a lifeline; and right now, people who don't want us to be informed are trying to flatline it.
