I took the movie trailer poster from 1975 and re-edited a little. I removed all the writing except for the title. used tints, lighting effects, washes of red, blue, yellow, green, cutting, pasting, etc. I also redid some of the border to fill in the photo a little more.  If your a fan of this movie check out the page on facebook. https://www.facebook.com/ABNR1975/

Gone too soon, such talent, humour, blue eyes, and scene stealer.

This was from my IMDB post on Geoffrey Lewis’s passing. When I was a kid I grew up watching movies on tv. I don't know why but I took to Every Which Way But Loose, and Any Which But Loose. Maybe it could have been fact of the Clyde the Orangutan, the humour in the movies, or the fights with Black Widow Motorcycle gang. From those movies I learned who Clint Eastwood was and same with Geoffery Lewis. Then I later seen Pale Rider, Bronco Billy, Thunderfoot and Lightfoot, and Pink Cadillac. What most would call the Eastwood buddy films. As I grew up I still watched tv shows and movies. The one thing I noticed in alot of the films/tv shows whether they were horror, western, or comedy's Geoffery Lewis was in a lot of them. If you look him up on the movie database you'll 219 credits to his name. I look at him like I do Brad Dourif, Andrew Divoff, Tom Savini, Kim Coates, Robert Englund, and Michael Rooker and many others. They all had a small part, played the baddie, good guy, had the good lines, sidekick, fights, or had the last laugh. The bad thing is not to many people know Mr. Lewis's name. The thing is most people don't know who he is. Best way I always describe him is he's the guy with the blue eyes in all those Eastwood movies. Today's generation would know him more from Devil's Rejects as the guy Otis beat's up in. I'm still a fan of this man's work. Still surprised even seeing a lot of movies and shows that I never knew he was in. Still 200 movies and shows from 1963 to 2015 is not bad. That's a pretty nice career to do that many roles. "Just because a actor isn't the headliner doesn't mean they are nameless. Most great actors are the ones people tend to overlook". I'm still in shock to a degree cause Mr. Lewis and Mr. Best pasted away within 24 hours of each other. I just received a few months back a signed photo from James Best.

MAG Dragster Part 1

For the upcoming model build coming up in March I decided to build the More American Graffiti Dragster.  This is a fun build but also a headache.  First off the kit came out in 1979 and has never been reissued. If you can find this unicorn it’ll cost $ 80 to $100 bucks.  I’m not that lucky, and have to go the other route. I have to do a custom build or replica. 

After  many hours of searching 60′s/70′s dragster model kits that look close to this kit. I finally found a break on a old forum someone mentioned a kit called Jawbreaker. Turns out Jawbreaker is the kit that the MAG dragster was modeled after.  The only difference other than box art, is the MAG dragster came with another body, gas tanks, exhaust,  Moroso heads, and decals. The kit gave you the option to build  MAG or Jawbreaker. 

 I ended up buying a Jawbreaker kit to get the ball rolling on this. I found a site that sells replica bodys, and decals. The decals from the site is not 100% mainly it’s the sponsor mini decal names and Ray's Automotive.  The decals are like the original kit flames, cover, and lines.. There’s another site that has replica decals that are spot on like the original.  I was lucky with this kit I bought on Ebay the original MAG dragster box and instructions.  The Jawbreaker instructions are the same as the MAG ones. The only difference in the book was the drawing were same but had a few extra parts drawn in the photo’s. 

The model  body needs some trimming since it is resin.  There are some rough spots, and need to cut out the hole at the back for the push bar. You have to punch out the spots for the axle, and on the door for some linkage.  I have been studying this dragster looking at other kit builds, and staring at photos.  

I have found out on this dragster the body has a 40 to 45 degree angle on it body. The colors in the flames is a dark yellow, blue, red, dark purple/black.  The flames are outlined in white, There is pinstriping in the name cover, and towards the back of the flames. The parachute is colored blue  with a orange line wrapping around it. The parachute has a red flower with a orange center.  The dragster has to different sets of flames on it. The left and right flames are not the same. The differ from both sides. The line along the body starts under the motor and runs around the point, and all down the body. It crawls under the backside to the other side. This line is blue and orange and runs down the bottom to almost under the parachute. In the cover that reads John Milner there is a hint of airbrushed black in the corners.  Plug wires are yellow, caps are red ,and plug into the back of motor. So you don’t need Jawbreakers/MAG distributor .

Model Contest

When I went to  Rider’s Hobby Shop in December, I seen they had a flyer for their annual modeling building contest. Normally I don’t join in these, well I don’t feel like my build are all that great. 

Let’s go back to beginning when I was a kid my dad use to build models. He was pretty good at it, and all that detail stuff. He started building back in the 70′s. He was the type he would build, and if he needed room he would blow up the old kits. Anyway, when I was a kid I would watch my dad build a few kits. My dad noticed I was interested in the hobby. My dad let me pick out my first kit, the Batmobile from the movie Batman. True, my did most of the work, but he showed and taught me about detailing models. Then it was Cole Trickle's nascar car, Dale Earnhardt, A Harley Motorcycle, snap together ZZ top, and a few others. Like most kids I got into the hobby but lost interest. 

Few years ago I was up at Riders seen a Wing Zero HG gundam. I remembered the gundam from the show and loved it. I bought it and built my first Gundam. I got into building models, just a different form of kits. I have learned a lot from the Gundam builders tips and tricks as well as how to fix broken stuff. Yeah, you tend to break parts a lot on these or loose fingers.  It’s good to learn the pin trick, and what glues work where. I have built over 10 Gundams to date. 

I still have a few kits I never finished and need to. One of these kits is a model of SnakeBite from over 15 years ago. I started it with being a dumbass I glued the motor together without painting it. My dad did start the body paint job and some of the detailing on the body.  Since I decided to jump into the contest I have 3 months or till March 19th to get it built. It’s getting close to being done. I’m using all those detailing tricks my dad taught me. Even the ones I have learned over the years with building Gundams. SnakeBite is my first monster truck build. It’s been a long time since I built a vehicle of any sorts. It’s all coming back to me at times what all I have learned.  

I’m also working on a Jawbreaker kit which I’m turning into John Milners Dragster from More American Graffiti.  I want to build a 3rd model but don’t know if I have the time for  another model to  build.  I’m mainly proving to myself that I still have it and I can vehicle builds.  Plus I want to show off what a girl can do, build, and bring some different kits to the table.

How I’m going to build a More American Graffiti Dragster Model.

Yep you heard it from me I’m going to build a replica model of the old More American Graffiti model from 1979. The main reason this is a kit that is so hard to find it’s like hunting down a unicorn. If you find one still complete you are looking at 80 to 100 bucks for the vintage model. I found out from looking up the instructions and from forums that the kit was based off another kit called Jawbreaker.  The old MAG book has the option to use the dragster body or Jawbreakers body. So to make this kit you need Jawbreak model, a Resin body of Milner’s Dragster (someone makes them), and Decals (someone makes these as well).  If my theory is correct I should be able to make a identical replica of the model from 1979. The thing that still gets me is How come AMT re released the Coupe and not the Dragster?  Instead they went with the Coupe and the Thunderbird. The 2003 Deuce Coupe is hard to come by where as the Thunderbird(aka Booster from Jingle All The Way) is everywhere.

What is a Screen Capper?

I was asked that when a friend asked me about it. “What’s a Capper” She asked. I gave her the benefit of the doubt, since she was older then me. Remember kiddies respect your elders. I just said “I’m a person that takes screenshots of movies, videos, and tv shows.” This got me to thinking about the subject, and how long I have been doing this. 

Anyway. I don’t mind being called a Capper, it’s something I mainly do as a hobby. I started taking stills from horror movies and turning them into wallpapers on my computer. I loved it. It was something I could do, and it was a form of art. I really got into taking stills few years ago. I joined up with a few groups and boards. They were always asking if anyone had any caps from movies,  and tv shows. I had a few movies and stuff I could do up and I did. I even had some sent to me to take stills of and sent back to the owners. I found out there are alot of old movies and shows that actors/actresses were in. Some of which the fans don’t own or never have seen. Plus it was nice to help out other fans. I don’t know if celebrities get pissed at people like me taking stills. I don’t get paid for what I do. If a friend asks about a certain video, movie, and says what they want. I try to get the shot for them to use on their page. I mean in the end we are all fans of something. 

The sad thing is over the past many years fansites and fans boards are slowly disappearing. The old film stills are getting more of a pain to find. On the stuff I screenshot I always try to take a few caps and post them for anyone to find on Facebook or Pinterest. The stuff I cap mainly is because I’m a fan of so many. I like to share some of the stuff I have captured. Most of the old photo’s I have done up have disappeared with the sites they were on. I been finding  some of the ones I saved and sharing them from my old files for anyone who wants to check them out. Again I’m just a fan, who does this free of charge, and I like the challenge as well.

Wow!  Going thru some of my old screen caps and I found all the Oliver Reed stuff I capped for a site. The cool thing about these was I got Evil Spirits: The Life of Oliver Reed sent to me. I never wanted anything for screen caps, but the guy sent me the book. I was looking for a copy of it anyway. BTW Great book.

My guitar!  Dwight Trash Epiphone.  This is my very first guitar, and yes I’m taking lessons with it. This guitar was bought brand new and was a trailer queened. No one played it, at all so it had everything with it. I have caught some heat from the Yoakam fans about it. Most have told me I am devaluing the guitar by playing it. I believe what good is something if you don’t play or drive it.
