I Choose
- I choose to live by choice, not by chance.
- I choose to make changes, not excuses.
- I choose to be motivated, not manipulated.
- I choose to be useful, not used.
- I choose to excel, not to compete.
- I choose self-esteem, not self-pity.
- I choose to listen to my inner voice, not the random opinions of others.

Feeling a lot more grounded, and mindful of meâ¨
got my first vaccine dose today. they said they were out of needles or something so they had me suck it out of bill gatesâ cock instead. was a little confused by that. but itâs nice of him to help out with distribution I guess
guess I slopped him so good heâs leaving his wife a week later. could at least pay me something for it billy boy
all women who wear glasses are gay. why are you wearing glasses, huh? to see other women?
precisely.
I love how atheists like to think they're making some big stand, but they never actually do anything??
They could be defending the people of Palestine from the IDF, they could be fighting ISIS, they could be busting up paedophile rings, they could be helping people get out of scientology and other cults - if they sincerely believed the things they say about religion, there is a lot they could be doing to counteract it the negative aspects associated with it
But instead they just post memes about how confident they are that their ethics, and philosophy are the right ones, and that everyone else is stupid and bad for thinking otherwise..
Once a little boy went to school. One morning The teacher said: âToday we are going to make a picture.â âGood!â thought the little boy. He liked to make all kinds; Lions and tigers, Chickens and cows, Trains and boats; And he took out his box of crayons And began to draw.
But the teacher said, âWait!â âIt is not time to begin!â And she waited until everyone looked ready. âNow,â said the teacher, âWe are going to make flowers.â âGood!â thought the little boy, He liked to make beautiful ones With his pink and orange and blue crayons. But the teacher said âWait!â âAnd I will show you how.â And it was red, with a green stem. âThere,â said the teacher, âNow you may begin.â
The little boy looked at his teacherâs flower Then he looked at his own flower. He liked his flower better than the teacherâs But he did not say this. He just turned his paper over, And made a flower like the teacherâs. It was red, with a green stem.
On another day The teacher said: âToday we are going to make something with clay.â âGood!â thought the little boy; He liked clay. He could make all kinds of things with clay: Snakes and snowmen, Elephants and mice, Cars and trucks And he began to pull and pinch His ball of clay.
But the teacher said, âWait!â âIt is not time to begin!â And she waited until everyone looked ready. âNow,â said the teacher, âWe are going to make a dish.â âGood!â thought the little boy, He liked to make dishes. And he began to make some That were all shapes and sizes.
But the teacher said âWait!â âAnd I will show you how.â And she showed everyone how to make One deep dish. âThere,â said the teacher, âNow you may begin.â
The little boy looked at the teacherâs dish; Then he looked at his own. He liked his better than the teacherâs But he did not say this. He just rolled his clay into a big ball again And made a dish like the teacherâs. It was a deep dish.
And pretty soon The little boy learned to wait, And to watch And to make things just like the teacher. And pretty soon He didnât make things of his own anymore.
Then it happened That the little boy and his family Moved to another house, In another city, And the little boy Had to go to another school.
The teacher said: âToday we are going to make a picture.â âGood!â thought the little boy. And he waited for the teacher To tell what to do. But the teacher didnât say anything. She just walked around the room.
When she came to the little boy She asked, âDonât you want to make a picture?â âYes,â said the little boy. âWhat are we going to make?â âI donât know until you make it,â said the teacher. âHow shall I make it?â asked the little boy. âWhy, anyway you like,â said the teacher. âAnd any color?â asked the little boy. âAny color,â said the teacher. And he began to make a red flower with a green stem.

I hate that I hesitated to reblog this just because I expect people to think itâs pretentious or melodramatic when itâs seriously real as fuck and Iâve witnessed it
This is what happened to me. I was young, first grade.Â
All the other kids have one teacher, while I had two, though I was in the same class. I took recess by myself. When the otherâs took recess, I was constantly quizzed by my second teacher and shown how to color properly because âYou donât want your pictures to look like theirs, do you?â I just wanted to color.Â
When I was allowed to participate with the rest of the class, I felt odd. âHow fast does the earth move?â The main teacher asked. â100 miles an hour!â âOne bajillion miles a hour!â I raised my hand. âYes?â I swallowed and smiled. âI think itâs closer to 100,000 kilometers per hour.â I didnât guess, I stated a fact. I was happy. And proud. Because I knew the answer. But somehow, when the teacher said âThatâs correctâ, it was with a large amount of disappointment and odd looks from the other kids. What had I done wrong? I didnât answer questions anymore.
When I was in the class with my second teacher, we did reading flash cards. âWhat does this say?â âGovernment.â She frowned. âAnd just how do you know that?â I answered as simply as I could. âIt doesnât sound like itâs spelled. It has âGovernâ like the governor, and it has âmentâ that rhymes vent which is whatâs above us! Government!â âThatâs not how you learn words, you need to remember how to spell them. Try the next one.â Why did it matter? I remembered and could read it. So I had to learn the âcorrectâ way to spell and read.
So on and so on until 5th grade, when I was falling behind all the other students and was told to try harder and pay attention. âShow your work or it counts against you.â But I didnât have any work to show⌠45 X 3 just is 135. What work was I supposed to show when something was a fact? So I had to relearn math so my teacher didnât flunk me out.
This has followed me into adulthood. âThink outside the box.â I canât. There is a small area outside the box I am allowed and no further. That is what I have been taught. When someone wants something from you in this way, they want to know where it came from and for it to match their ideals⌠not something they canât understand or want to consider. And there is always a right answer, even if you are just coming up with ideas.
âDo you have any ideas on this matter?â My boss asks. I shrug. âItâs not something for me weigh in on, thatâs beyond my area.â
You broke me. You broke thousands of kids who could have been the new Tesla, Curie, or Einstein. And you wonder why new ideas arenât new? Because you told us, at a very early age, that a new idea must already conform to what you understand and are comfortable with.Â
Letâs think about how much more advanced we would be as a society if our school systems didnât break kids.
Once again a reminder: In the modern US school system, this is a feature, not a bug. THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT IT WANTS TO DO TO CHILDREN. IF IT DOESNâT GO THIS WAY SOMETIMES, ITâS BECAUSE OF TEACHERS WHO GO AGAINST ESTABLISHED PROTOCOLS, AND THEY OFTEN SUFFER FOR IT IF THEY DO SO.
Also, not only does the school environment break healthy kids with no underlying conditions or disorders, it destroys kids with mental health conditions who PHYSICALLY CANNOT do homework, or do certain assignments, or follow indirect instructions. Kids with ADHD, ADD, autism, etc. are forced to use an environment that is completely useless and emotionally damaging to them. As someone with ADHD, I sometimes find it physically impossible for me to do an assignment. I know this is a similar problem for others with this condition, and it often gets brushed off by people as laziness and isnât accepted as a valid excuse due to misinformation. The current school system doesnât take disorders like this seriously and often just brush it off as laziness and punish the student, which is incredibly damaging and harmful, and often leads to anxiety and depression in these students. On that note, the school system is downright torturous for students with depression and anxiety. Schools do next to nothing for this continually growing issue. I know that schools canât account for every mental disorder, but would it be that hard to try? My time in US public school has mentally destroyed me, and even though Iâm in an international school system now, its still influenced by some US standards, such as copious amounts of homework(which the school is trying to cut down on to be more like its international alikes), etc. The US school system is entirely bullshit, and I propose that as gen z grows and gradually takes power, we try to change our damaging school structure and create a better learning environment for students. If youâre going to be a teacher, I have the strong mindset of, âBe the teacher that you always wanted to have.â Weâre the next step. Be the change you want to see in the world.
I was a teacher for five years. I actually liked my job a lot but I left because they werenât taking any COVID precautions in my state and I didnât want to be part of spreading illness around. This post is pretty accurate but I think itâs missing a piece of the puzzle.
Schools are designed to squash childrenâs spirits but theyâre designed that way at a governmental level. I know a LOT of teachers who really try to encourage individuality, critical thinking, and creativity. I know administrators who try to foster this as well. A ton of people working in schools really are doing their best. And Iâm not just saying that. Iâm talking about my teacher friends on Facebook stating the upside of getting COVID 19 at work was that while staying home sick, they had time to finish a puzzle for the first time in years. Iâm talking about people staying two and three and four hours after school ends to prepare for and help their students. This time is NOT paid. Those teachers were doing it for free.
The sad thing about this is that theyâre killing themselves it doesnât fix the ultimate problem. No amount of teacher dedication gets rid of the high stakes testing that drives schools to do this kind of shit. No amount of department head work fixes bad curriculum the county purchased because it was cheap. No amount of administrator effort allows them to hire enough teachers to give kids the individualized focus they need to encourage growth and creativity.
These big picture problems can only be fixed by voting. If millennials and gen z want to change schools for the better, we need to get out there and vote for better school funding, better curriculum, and the end to high stakes tests. You want to make our school systems a good place for kids? VOTE.
This reminds me of a discussion I had in my high school economics class, which was taught by the best teacher Iâve ever had.
Heâd held an activity where he gave all of us slips of paper with a sentence or two of information on them, and a worksheet to fill out using the information. Then he sat back and did not teach for the rest of the period; the way we distributed the slips and filled in the sheet was completely up to us as a class.
He used this as an opportunity to talk about different economic models based on what we chose to do (our class had a model similar to communism, where we all read our slips aloud and discussed as a class where they should go on the worksheet). But then, he asked us to write a list of the skills we had practiced in organizing this self-lead model.
We listed things like patience, communication, and team work. He asked if we felt those were important skills to have in life and in the workplace, and we all agreed they were.
âSo, if those skills are so important,â he asked, âwhy are none of your classes taught this way?â
We theorized about efficiency and correctness of information, but throughout the discussion we realized that none of those things could really outweigh the importance of the skills weâd practiced. So really, we asked, why arenât we taught to do this in school?
And my teacher said, âDo you think that if everyone had these skills, they would find it easier to work without supervision or guidance?â We all nodded. âSo, if that were the case, what would become of managers and executives? If every worker learned and practiced these skills as children, if every worker were able to effectively communicate and organize and work things out together, there would be no need to have anyone in charge. And no one in charge wants that.â
I have honestly never been the same since that class.
Education is for subjugation
And teachers are active conscious participants in that
I feel sorry for the old man, but it was stealing. There is no apparently about it. Water is not free, itâs not a right to have it, and people pay must pay for it. If a government gives a thing to you like utilities, its still not free because they take it from somewhere else, like in taxes. Â
my friend visiting my house: hey iâm thirsty can i get a glass of water
