Hey all, figured I'd finally post about my Yami Seto AU publically! Essentially, this boils down to "what if Kaiba had the Rod instead of Marik?". I also extended it to "what if the Priest was based on Sobek instead of Set?"
Below are some thoughts I made about 2 months ago. Beyond the cut is mature content, and while nothing explicit is shown, I highly discourage minors from engaging with this post.
CW for implied vore/cannibalism and eating disorder. Mind control as well, but this is Yugioh after all.
Here are my original notes, plus a micro story laced in. The final paragraph is a direct copy of a spell from Unas's tomb.
And then here, I went through the Wikipedia article for Sobek and highlighted some key points (due to the 10 image limit, I left some minor things out).
I've poked fun at myself for this, but one could easily say this is like a "Hannibal meets The Mask" AU. I wanted Seto's Yami to be almost the exact opposite of him. Even down to clothing. While Seto normally wears long sleeves and tight-fitting clothes, Miso (both having come from a hot climate and not being ashamed of his body) absolutely hates these and wears more exposing clothing. He used to tear and rip up Seto's clothes, but eventually learned to respect his descendant's odd fashion choices.
As for his design? I have a mostly concrete idea for it. This is the most recent sketch I've done. Dated March 25, 2026.
What I attempted here was Miso's design and what he would actually look like (for those unaware, the Yamis only have a different visual design for the audience. In universe, they look exactly the same as the host).
This is all still a big work-in-progress. I have gotten a few suggestions to write this as a fic, but I struggle to figure out how to do that exactly. I kinda thought about taking my original micro story and expanding it more. Maybe include backstory as to how Seto acquired the Rod (which I have a plan for).
