“Huh, you know, that actually sounds like a smart thing to do.. feed us plenty and then ship us of to our dorms.” Sam replied as he slowly removed his hand from Blaine’s forehead, after letting it linger there for far to long probably but it had felt really nice to feel the warmth of Blaine’s skin against his fingers. “Very sneaky of them,” he added with a chuckle.
He loaded up his plate with way more food then he would ever eat but he at least planned to have a little bit of everything. “Would you mind if I join you for that walk? Not really in the mood to go back to the dorms just yet. And from the looks of it it’s nice out.” Sam pointed up to the ceiling where there was no cloud in sight and you could see a lot of stars on display.
“It’d probably be a good idea, as the first years tend to be anxious. And tiny. My Gosh, were we ever that small?” Blaine said, glancing over to the cluster of new students, who were all wide eyed and, fo once, less jumpy than the more experienced students. Blaine was pretty sure most of the older kids like Sam and himself probably had some form of PTSD, not that it would be diagnosed in the wizarding world.
When Sam offered to take a walk with him, he nodded. “I’d like that, Sam. We can finish catching up.” Even though they talked often, it was good to see each other in person again. Frankly, Blaine occasionally had nightmares about the final battle, nightmares he didn’t really want to talk about and being able to see Sam’s face was reassuiring. Taking a bite of turkey, he licked a drip of gravy off of his thumb and said, “I’ve missed the food here.”
