Survive for 10 Minutes with a Werewolf.
In a Fight.
Guys. What if the Tsaritsa was like “The Harbingers need to be a team at all costs, so I order all of you to some team-building excercises” and forces her Harbinger-children to choose some activities they want (”want”) to do together
….and after much arguing and attempts from Childe to talk them into weekly sparring-matches, they decide on playing DnD together. With the Tsaritsa herself being the DM
(pls dnd-side of tumblr, be nice to me- all of my dnd-knowledge comes from watching dnd youtube and listening to my dnd-playing friends-)
The first few sessions are an absolute nightmare cause all of the Harbingers are still in the mindset of “This is stupid, how does playing this…. childish board-game help us steal the gnoses and overthrow celestia?!” ….but after two months or so, the Tsaritsa is very pleased to see no one cancelling their weekly sessions anymore and showing up with all their character sheets and their own dice
Not because they’re having fun, of course! That would be immature…. no, they’re only doing this for her Majesty and her noble cause….! Uh, anyways….
Just…. imagine. A table full of the Eleven Fatui Harbingers, her Majesty the Cryo-Archon herself, surrounded by character-sheets, minis, dice and junkfood. And the DnD-sessions get INTENSE-
You’ve got:
-Childe, playing a Barbarian/Fighter multiclass (even though they don’t mix well- boy saw two battle-focused classes and wasn’t interested in anything else). Being the theatre-loving dork he is, he’s VERY into the whole roleplaying-aspect. He says “But it’s what my character would do” around 50 times every single session, maybe he even starts showing up in cosplay just to REALLY get into the mindset of a barbarian fighter. ….maybe his background is that of a humble fisherman who’s searching for his lost family, being the family-man he is
-Scaramouche with a Rogue, cause he was vERY drawn to the whole stealth and trickery-thing…. the Tsaritsa was overjoyed, seeing her Sixth choose a class that he felt a connection to and was looking forward to how he’d use stealth and his own intelligence to overcome obstacles… only problem, it’s Scaramouche. So he didn’t put any points into stealth, instead only intimidation and charisma. Y’all know that iconic “YOU DO NOT SEE GROG!!”-tumblr post? Yeah, that’s Scaramouche. Every time he’s asked to do a stealth-check, he just yells out “YOU DO NOT SEE SCARAMOUCHE” or some shit like that.
Tsaritsa: The guards have caught up to you, leaving you with no option to slip away. What do you do?
Scara: I turn into a tree.
Tsaritsa: …..what? You don’t know any shapeshifting.
Scara: Well, can I convince them that I’m just a humble tree?
Tsaritsa, pinching the bridge of her nose: Roll for it
Scara, rolling a Nat20:
Tsaritsa, deep sigh: The guards throw a glimpse in your direction, mumbling amongst themselves how much brighter the room looks with the addition of the new tree.
-Dottore, playing a Cleric, aka the party-healer. Every Harbinger wasn’t impressed at the thought of the batshit insane doctor being their healer. And boy…. Dottore did NOT disappoint: His character doesn’t know a single healing spell or anything of that sort. Instead, they’re a dropout that only knows necromancy. Meaning if anyone in the party gets hurt, no matter how tiny of a injury it is, Dottore’s character will straight-up unalive them and resurrect them. He’s the embodiment of “I didn’t get my medical license revoked for nothing”
-La Signora plays a Scorcerer. She’s pretty much the only player who takes the game serious, even her character’s like the handbook-version of a Scorcerer. ….asides from fireball. Every time she casts fireball, her character just throws a molotov cocktail. If any Harbinger dares to look at her funny, she just shrugs like “You expect me to use fire-magic? After what happened last time? Not gonna happen, sunshine.”
Every puzzle the Tsaritsa throws at them doesn’t involve any locked doors. The reason why? The first and last time she did, she had to sit there and listen to Scaramouche intimidate the door into opening itself.
Dottore probably built himself a pair of dice with ruin guard-parts, or some funky shit like this. they were banned, of course. not because they’re rigged, but because they had a tiny built-in laser that would just go off randomly. When asked why he would create something like this, Dottore just shrugged like “Well, I just thought it’d be nice to keep us alert.”
Pantalone just constantly tries to get rich, and he’s resorted to constantly opening like, the Tavern-version of a fast food chain everywhere they go. He managed to get the party so fuckin rich that the Tsaritsa had to incorporate inflation into her campaign to keep it balanced.
Pierro probably plays a bard or so, and the Tsaritsa was afraid he’d turn into the horny bard she’s read so much about while preparing for this whole project. But he’s Pierro, the Jester, the first Fatuus…. being just a horny bard is way too basic. He’s still constantly seducing everything in order for the party to get their way, but he’s doing it, like… classy. Like when a grandma calls her grandson handsome for doing her gardenwork or something like that.
Tsaritsa: ….My First… did you…. did you just…. tell the Mind Flayer, the vile creature who has trapped you in its lair for the past week, seperating your group with the goal to devour your brains…. that it’s “glowing”?
Pierro: Yes. Their youthful glow and well-groomed tentacles just strike respect and deep admiration into my heart.
Tsaritsa: ….*sigh* The Mind Flayer blushes, twirling its tentacles like a school girl might twirl her hair.
EDIT: The Harbingers have all been revealed now and in addition to this post…
-Pulchinella’s character is a chicken. Just a regular Chicken. It only has one attack that consists of flicking a single pebble with its beak… but the chicken is also the party monk and thus the pebble-flick does the most damage out of all of their characters. I just find the mental image hilarious of this short guy with round glasses and a beard, looking like some kinda elf-npc playing a chicken and watching with a shit-eating grin as said Chicken absolutely destroys mobs that Childe’s character is struggling with. Pulchinella, the fifth harbinger, the Rooster, hard-carrying his party with a ridiculously powerful chicken
-The Tsaritsa was starting to regret allowing Pulchinella to play a Chicken after having spent 20 minutes listening to her sixth and her fifth arguing about whether or not the chicken has to wear pants when the party was invited to a noble party. Pulchinella insisted that while it’s just a chicken, it does have proper manners (unlike a certain fighter/barbarian….) and wears a tiny pair of fitted pants, paid for by Pantalone’s tavern-business. Scaramouche on the other hand argued back that it’s just a fucking chicken, so a tiny lil bowtie around its neck is enough.
-Yes, these are two grown-ass men arguing about whether or not a chicken has to wear pants to attend a fancy party. These are her Harbingers, handpicked for the job, powerful individuals having been gifted godlike authority. Arguing over chickens.

greetings Miss Bun,
one of my best friends rts your account on twitter often and from what i have seen i have come to the conclusion Bun is somewhat of a Tartaglia analysis expert.
therefore i was wondering if you knew or had a guess about Tartaglia's loyalty to The Tsaritsa.
Do you think part of the reason Tartaglia is so loyal is because he believes it's what's best for his family, that the Tsarista does know best? or does he love the Tsaritsa & is loyal for a separate reason regardless of family? If Tartaglia had to make a choice to stay loyal to the Tsarista at the cost of his family getting hurt, do you think Tartaglia would make that choice? Is Tartaglia's family getting hurt worth making the Tsaritsa's vision come to fruition?
i understand if this is too heavy a question or if there simply not enough information to make a guess, just curious as to what Bun thinks as a fellow lover of Childe.
Thank you for taking the time to read this, hope you have a wonderful day
(^-^)
Thank you for asking! It's true that we don't have much solid information on this, but I'll do my best to answer your question based on the current info and my own personal interpretation.
Judging by what we've learned thus far, Childe's loyalty to the Tsaritsa is partially due to being granted a purpose.
There are three separate instances in which purpose/motivation is mentioned in regard to or by Childe, making it a recurring and significant theme for his character.
Childe's Collected Miscellany. In this video, Dainsleif says, "Since becoming a Fatui Harbinger, fighting for the Tsaritsa is his new motivation as a warrior." This statement raises the question of what his motivation had been prior to the Tsaritsa, or whether he even had a motivation at all. My personal theory is that he did not have one.
Labyrinth Warriors (Limited Event). "All those who stalk the battlefield yearn for meaning and value." This quote comes from Childe himself.
Childe's Act I Story Quest. The quote from this requires the full context, so I'll expand on this below.
In Childe's story quest, Teucer gets the opportunity to see Childe fight for the first time. After the fight, he says to Childe, "I wanna learn to fight too. I wanna be cool like you!" to which Childe responds, "...Fighting isn't about looking cool. You can only continue to get stronger if you know the reason why you're fighting. I can teach you. But think carefully, first. Why do you want to fight?"
Teucer briefly ponders Childe question. Soon, he replies, "I want to protect sister Tonia."
This dialogue between the two of them is crucial in understanding Childe's own individual purpose for fighting. Later in the quest, outside of the abandoned ruin guard factory, Childe references Teucer's response when speaking to Paimon, after she asks if he is concerned for his little brother's safety. His words are as follows:
"Of course I am...but no matter what the danger is, I will parry it. Isn't that what any older brother would do?" followed by, "Even Teucer understands that, now that he knows what he's fighting for...It's the very same reason that's been nestled in my own heart for so many years."
This means that, much like how Teucer concluded that he wished to protect Tonia, Childe wishes to protect their entire family.
According to the description of the Funerary Mask obtained from Signora, the Fatui's primary goal is to go against the Heavenly Principles, against Celestia. It reads, "...Only those who possess an obsession close to or exceeding the level of delusion might be willing to join this group that so rebels against the Heavenly Principles..."
This is to say that the Fatui possess a wealth of information and knowledge beyond the average citizen in Teyvat. They have knowledge about Khaenri'ah and Khaenri'ahn technology, the Abyss, Irminsul, the truth of the world—and Childe, a Fatui Harbinger with firsthand knowledge of the Abyss, who traveled deeper than any other living human being, is not exempt from this. He is aware of the stakes, and of the war they'll have to wage to defeat the Heavenly Principles. He knows what will happen if they lose.
With that being said, to sum it up, we can assume that his loyalty is in part due to 1) gratitude for being given a purpose and 2) to ensure a safer world and future for his younger siblings and the rest of his family.
As for whether Childe loves the Tsaritsa or not, that remains to be seen. Since the Tsaritsa is implied to be the god of love, this could serve as one of the numerous plot points for the future main archon quest of Snezhnaya in 2025. What does true love mean to a god, especially to the god of love herself?
The question also reminds me of a past discussion between myself and a good friend of mine, as to whether worship and love can be equated. Is love a result of worship, or vice versa? Is it possible to worship without love? Can it even be deemed worship without it? And how would these complexities influence Childe's path? How would this internal dilemma affect his relationship with his family? Who would he choose if it came down to that?
Personally I believe that, because Childe's devotion to his family is such an integral part of his character, it is unlikely for his loyalty to his god to surpass that, in the event that his family would come to harm. In fact, it is my personal belief that this is the one line that can never be crossed. It would be his tipping point. Not only are they an inextricable part of his life, but I have reason to suspect that their role goes even farther beyond what we've been shown or told. I believe that his responsibility to his family, as well as the love of his younger siblings, is the very thing that has allowed him to maintain his humanity.
(But this is already way too long. I cannot get into that. Lmao)
In Labyrinth Warriors, ran in version 2.2, we learn about Childe's sense of dehumanization—self-dehumanization, as it is self-imposed and reinforced by himself (though it was undoubtedly cultivated by the Fatui). The event's story contained strong parallels between Shiki Taishou—a shikigami in search of his master—and Childe. Both perceived themselves as weapons, and Shiki Taishou says an interesting line: "If I am able, I wish to retain the kindness in my heart until the very end. But a weapon cannot betray its master's will. If he was able to create me, then he is able to control me."
This evolves into a harrowing conflict when applied to the context of Childe's own individual story, especially with the addition of Xinyan's perspective on Shiki Taishou's dilemma.
"All you gotta do is find the thing that was most important and righteous to you."
In other words, my personal prediction for the course of Childe's journey as a character is this: Caught between multiple worlds, there will come a time when Childe is forced to make his own decision. Will he carry out the Tsaritsa's orders, or will he save his family from harm? Should a situation arise in which his family is in danger, I believe he will ultimately choose to protect them, even if it means going against the deity he loyally serves.
In a nation ruled by a god of love, a character choosing love above all else would be extremely impactful, a perfect fit for the narrative and a profound moment for Childe's own story and development. After all, I think that is the entire point of his character—someone who, against all odds, retains his kindness, even if he himself is not entirely aware of it.
I hope I was able to answer all of your questions! I apologize for how lengthy this response is, but I'm just always very excited to discuss him. If you ever have more questions, you're always welcome to ask! I promise not ALL of my responses will be this long lol
Well I guess me slowly decreasing the amount of time I spent on Twitter was a great choice but still kinda sad to see another billionaire not think through their poorly made, very stupid money decisions

Got asked for some writing advice
How did you improve your writing specifically beyond 'just writing more'?
The first thing is to read different things from different genres. Read an old book, and see how that is written. Read a genre you normally don't read. Read some poetry. Go to the library and walk to a random book, open it in the middle and read. Read on paper, and out loud. And then read some more. And when you read, try to think about why you don't like or likes something. Is it boring? Why? Is it hard to understand? Why? What is it in the words you like? Does it feel good to read out loud? If it doesn't, why not?
A tip is to take a book you think is interesting. Take a paragraph from the middle at random, and write it down in a word document. Pay attention to how it feels to write. How are the sentences? Do they feel different from your own? Close the book and continue to write a few paragraphs. Does your style change? What is the difference between your paragraphs and the one above? Sentence length? Comma use? Does it make it better or worse
Another tip is to write down a bit of dialogue from a tv show or movie you like. There might be transcripts online even. Take that dialogue and write a scene with it. Especially if you find dialogue hard to sound natural this might be freeing. Or, you might even find that what sounded good on the screen looks terrible on paper when it's not said by a charismatic actor.
A third is to write fanfiction and try to make it as good as you can. Try to make it real, as if it might have been from the original source. Think about what it was you liked about it, and then try to imitate that and make your own story. Fanfiction gets a bad rep, but it is a great way to experiment with writing without having to come up with characters and a world. That way you can just focus on the language.
Would you have any tips regarding writing interesting characters? Mine are always very flat and bland OR 'mary sues'
First of all, there is nothing wrong with a "mary sue". The way this is used these days, it might as well mean "protagonist". If Batman or James Bond can get away with their shit, your protagonist certainly can too. And your characters will be flat at the start because a story consists of so many parts. You have your language, your plot, your world, your story rhythm. And when you are starting out, there's simply too many things to focus on. You won't get depth in all of them, and the characters are what you spot being flat first, because that's usually what attracts us to a story in the first place.
My characters were terribly flat when I started out, but I wrote short story horror so it didn't matter. Nobody read that for the characters.
A trick I have to try to get my characters to feel alive is to write arguments. Take two characters you have trouble with and let them talk. Argue about something. Be stuck in an awkward situation together. Don't bother writing anything but dialogue, never mind the actual scene. Just write them talking, and after a while you might get a feel for how they feel different from one another. Maybe they start talking about things about them that you didn't even know. Explore. Have fun. Have them say something weird. Something hurtful. Write reactions. Don't bother thinking if it's usable or not. I've written pages of dialogue just to get a feel for how people talk.
I usually build characters by combining archetypes. I start with one people will know immediately, then add another, and a third. They will be uncovered one at a time, adding depth. Let's take Ricardo Ortega for example. The first archetype is "the sexy leading man/hero". Then, we get to know what I fondly call "the himbo". And finally, we discover "the clever, sneaky asshole". I didn't need to bring in all those things at once, as long as I got writing the first archetype, people would be interested and intrigued when they learned about the new facets.
Would you have any tips on writing humor/banter? You're pretty dang good at it but I could never figure out how to be funny lmao all the jokes I write are Extremely Cringe.
Oh I wish. I honestly have no idea. I was terrible writing characters and dialogue. I think something clicked when I wrote massive amounts of DA2 fanfic, because that was a game which consisted of nothing but banter, so I tried to mimic it the best I could. I have never liked comedies or really understood humor, so I never try to be funny. It's the one part of my writing I truly does not understand, some of my characters are just like that.
What's your plot planning process like, if you have a consistent one? I can only figure out the very generic broad strokes but it falls apart as soon as I try to come up with details.
All plots are generic broad strokes. Rebirth is basically just emo protagonist monologues a lot, meets up with some old friends and proceeds to beat them up. That's it. All plots will look flat and boring in your head, because what makes a plot cool and interesting is that you don't know what's going to happen. You do. You're the author. So of course it will look flat and uninteresting in your head. The hardest thing is trying to ignore this.
My workaround to this is only knowing the barest of broad strokes. I know where I want to go, who the opposition is, some basic scenes that needs to be there (not in detail) and then I write and discover things as I go along. That is the only way for me to remain interested in the plot, if I had planned it in detail I'd get bored. And oh, sure, there's a lot of foreshadowing and hidden things in my writing, but that's only because I know some big things that's going to happen. It's not like I have sat down and detail planned every chapter, what things I need to plant there, and so on. A lot of the times I forget things, and have to go back and add them, and so on. I would say focus on the characters before the plot. If you manage to figure out how to write fun characters first, nobody will care if the plot is bland.
