POV: After you finally experienced a glimpse of hope, you're trapped back into your cage by reminders of who you truly are, who you never asked to be, will you be able to navigate your emotions around Zuko and find your own purpose and duty... but not before you question your father.
You quickly shoved the note behind your back, and walked towards the group, faking the best smile, Katara and Aang held hands as they walked through the lit streets under the crowded night, this city was always buzzing with life, markets still open, groups of friends laughing together, you walked alongside Zuko, you could tell he was matching your pace, you looked towards the other groups of friends, and then to Aang and Katara, is this what you all looked like together? A normal group of friends.. at least as normal as a friend group with the avatar could be. You grasped at every memory your father had created of republic city, how the benders killed innocent children and stole from them. How the people were being robbed by benders who would harm them for the mere thought of retaliation.
'Raika. Is everything ok?' Zuko asked.
You never realised how long you'd been spacing out for. You looked at Zuko. His features softened under the dim lights from the city lamps, his eyes still fierce and glowing with passion. Brighter than the light from the lamps. You didn't know what to tell him. He would never accept you when he found out you were the assassin who tried to kill him. Who plotted against his friends he held dearly. You scrambled your brain in search for a response,
'yeah, I'm just not feeling well, I think I need to go to a toilet somewhere, I'll meet up with you all in front of the restaurant later' you said. You couldn't keep the questions stirring in your head, leaving your mind a mess. You'd finally confront your father, and find out for yourself what you truly wanted.
'I'll come with you' Zuko answered awkwardly, blush colouring his cheeks as he realised what he'd asked. You held back a laugh, even at a moment like this he made your you feel warmer, feel alive.
'No thanks Zuko I don't need you to hold my hand to the toilet' You grinned, all the while bile rose at your throat at the thought of you seeing your father soon. You looked at Zuko who had nothing more to say. Good,
'I'll see you there then,' You waved off, he waved back, and stood there watching your back till you became a spec in the crowds of the street.
You walked further down the maze of alleyways, you felt again the same assassin presence. No. Chills ran through your spine. This was not the same presence. It was much colder now. More meticulous. More menacing. You stood in your tracks. Moonlight illuminating the dingy alleyway, the hustle and bustle of the city had silenced at the sight of your father. Your legs felt weak. This is what happens when you hadn't seen your father for a few weeks? You never realised how frightened you were of him, you clearly too desensitised before to ever realise. This was the man who promised peace to non benders? You stayed strong, forcing yourself to bow at your father. You had to find an excuse on why it took you this long to kill Zuko, you had to make sure your father would never suspect a thing. You would lie like your life depended on it.
Because it did.
'Rise' Your father ordered. He came close to you then and placed his hand on your chin. 'How has your time with Firelord Zuko been? Renzu has told me of how close the two of you have become.' he smiled eerily.
You knew that was a question on whether you had actually gotten close to Zuko.
'No father, the mission is going smooth, I have successfully gained the trust of the Firelord' you spoke like a puppet, the control your father had on you was terrifying. Just as you thought you were in the clear however, your fathers hands grasped your neck painfully and he lifted you up against the alley wall, you stood on your toes in an attempt to release yourself from his grasp but it wouldn't work. You choked and writhed under his hold. He looked you dead in the eyes, with a cold glare,
'Renzu had told you you'd gained much more than that. Apparently honour was among one of the things you gained during your mission, saving the arena from my bomb attack'
Renzu. When you finally got your hands on him, you would definitely kill him. But you had to find an excuse first before your father killed you. You fought at his arm hard, hoping he'd let go eyes pricking with tears at the pain. You couldn't wait any longer or you would choke to death, your eyes flashed to Zuko and his friends, the warmth you felt around them. The warmth you felt around him. The promise you made to come back. You would. With all the remaining strength you reached to stab your fathers arm. Before he let you go, and you fell to the pavement, coughing and spluttering, breathing in as much air as your lungs could hold while tears ran down your cheek. Uncontrollably. You needed to ask that man one more question before you went with your final decision. But you had to give him an excuse first.
'I was with his friend Katara, I couldn't compromise my identity.' You spluttered still grasping for air. Also I do have information.' You knew you were going to regret this. ' The president is surprising the Avatar with a statue, to commemorate the peace of the city. It is in a week.' Regret twisted through your chest, worry weighing it down.
Your father smiled, that same spine chilling grin. You looked up and glared at him.
'Are you crying?' He laughed now, loud and harsh, the noise grated against your ears like hell. That same disgusting laugh you heard as a child every time you cried in front of your father. He lavished in your misfortune.
'I have a single question.' You started. 'Once I kill the firelord. How will you bring peace to non benders and the bendes alike.'
'The benders? Peace to the people who killed your mother?' he spat. 'No. They will all die. With the technology your peers have built, We will create a new order, one where bending no longer rules, we will control the benders, use them at our will, to atone for their sins, and the pain they ravaged' anger rose in his voice each time, he began to sound more animal than man. That was exactly what you needed.
Your father was nothing but a spiteful man. He used your mother as an excuse. He didn't care about the non benders. He just wanted power. Although it took you long to realise, You were glad you finally had. You were done being his slave. You would live. You would try your hardest to live with Zuko and his friends with what little time you had, because once your father found out you were going to thwart his plans once again, he would definitely kill you.
'Of course father. We'll put an end to this.' You promised.
He left with that. Sinking into the shadows. But you knew you'd see him again, and you know it might be your last.
You rushed back through the maze towards the restaurant. You made your way through the bustling streets, walking down the same cobbled path that you came, you looked towards the restaurant to your true destination. Zuko. You saw him outside the restaurant, waiting, staring at the moon, lost in thought, playing with a glinting object in his hand. As you closed distance, you realised what it was. Your mothers necklace... Your mind went immediately back to the fight in his apartment. it must have fell while he attacked you that night. You breathed in deep, attempting to steady your uneasy heart rate, as you got closer to him it seemed too hard a task to steady it again.
'I'm back, did you guys finish eating?' you sighed, you couldn't even think of food right now.
'The others did.' he said, 'I wasn't in the mood' you caught him then staring at the swelling that was forming along your neck. His brows furrowed with something you'd only saw between others. Worry? You quickly lifted the collar of your tunic so that it would be covered. Feeling awkward under his gaze. You had to change the topic. Quick.
'Well, where are the others,' you asked.
He sighed as if exhausted. 'They left. Katara mentioned something about some well needed alone time? What did you two speak about when she left?'
About how you like me. Is what you wanted to say. But you didn't have the capacity to process those emotions right now. 'She mentioned how you also lost something to the fire nation' you mumbled absentmindedly not realising you were reaching towards his scar, you pulled back an inch before he grabbed your hand and placed it on the scar, placing his much larger hand over yours, leaning into your touch. He had your every attention, your every breath.
'This was nothing compared to what I actually lost in the war, I lost my mother. To my father. ' your breath faltered for a second then and you pulled your hand back. You were shocked. Your father had told you that his mother had died.
'She died?' You asked carefully, you'd never inquired into anyone's past other than to find out more about an enemy.
'No, but she left when I was very young, she left my father, i'm glad she did. Because I've never seen her happier.' He smiled, but you could tell there was pain beneath those eyes. You knew because you felt the same pain losing your mother. You admired how he became someone who let go of his painful past. Someone who could be so warm despite the lack of he received during his own life. You wanted to redeem yourself. You knew for certain. You wanted to become a person who could live normally, be allowed to feel normally. You wanted to feel freely for Zuko. You finally realised you were more than your fathers purpose.

TW: idk mentions of death ANGSTY? BUT NOT TOO MUCH PROMISE
POV: After sudden attacks and uncomfortable emotions surface you and Katara are now set to find what's really going on in this arena and you have a feeling that your father would go to disgusting feats to get the avatars attention.
You and Katara walked through the corridors of the arena you looked around for any of the other assassins to show up and you secretly hoped you'd find renzu so you could completely defeat him. You wouldn't let that fool beat you a second time, You were so caught in thought you didn't even hear Katara calling your name,
'Yeah? Sorry I couldn't hear you for a second there' you sighed. 'What was it that you wanted?'
'Nothing,' she smiled, 'Just that Zuko clearly likes you' she said casually. Liked you? She clearly meant in a friendly way but you couldn't help get awkward around that. That by itself went against everything you were here to do. Kill the Firelord. Find out information about his friends. It was simple yet you were losing your composure at the thought of Zuko liking you. Your father would have your head for any betrayal. Yet you didn't know if you could go through with killing them after how he had helped you twice, not only that Katara and Aang both seemed... normal especially considering her past with the fire nation....
'Katara, how are you so close with Firelord Zuko, considering his people...'
Her brows rose at that curved with suspicion,
'Aren't you fire nation yourself' she laughed.
You tried to think of a response but felt a presence in the shadows, you looked back but couldn't see anything,
'Ah It was just... I also dealt with something similar, my mother was also killed, even though I'm fire nation myself we ended up being killed mercilessly by the soldiers, they didn't care... they just wanted blood' you paused. Painful memories rushed in from the burn on your arm, as if burnt anew by the heat of the pain. Your father hadn't done anything. He listened to the firelord all throughout his time as an official, but the one time he made a mistake, he was made an example of. 'My mother was killed mercilessly by them as well, so I just wanted to know'
'Zuko was also hurt by the fire nation' she sighed ' the scar on his eye, he didn't just get that scar in a fight... His father gave it to him,'
your father, clearly missed out some information when he briefed you about Zuko. It was laughable. You really had known barely anything about who you were sent to kill, you felt like a brainless soldier being sent into war.
' Ah I never knew that... I thought' Just then you felt something move in the shadows again, you shot three knives into the distance, and the sneaking shadow revealed itself, Renzu. This time you wouldn't let him get away, you knew you would beat him with the help of Katara but as you watched him. You realised something eerie about his smile,
' Raika, what a nice surprise...' he jeered menacingly,
'How do you know my name' You lied through your teeth. You felt sick, Katara was right there and wouldn't hesitate to mention to Zuko about your alliances. You rushed another knife to his face while katara charged water his way he dodged both attacks and brought out a familiar weapon. A bomb.
You recognised the technology and knew it was enough to have half of the arena blown up. That was how your father was planning to get the avatars attention? For once in your life you felt your eyes were opened clear to your fathers cruelty. There were non-benders in there. Children.
'Let's see if you can stop this' he threw the bomb in your direction and ran out to escape. Of course he wouldn't fight head on. He was always a coward. You looked at the bomb more carefully... You knew if katara could get you out of the Arena you could diffuse the bomb without risking the lives of civilians. You had to act fast. It was laugable really. Suddenly you wanted to completely thwart your fathers deranged scheme, you felt a voice creeping in telling you that what you were doing was right. For once in your life you wanted to follow your instinct.
'Katara, there's not much time, but is there a way you could knock the outside of the hall to get us to the outside of the arena I think I can diffuse the bomb.'
She nodded and water bended smashing a way out of the concrete. You placed it on the ground, opening it up, Katara created a barrier with the surrounding water. You realised she was protecting the people inside the arena, you went to work figuring through the wires and connections of the bomb. You had to save them. Images of the children laughing with treats in the arena, fire bending, earth bending men alike cheering alongside one another. Zuko. ZUKO?? You kicked the image out of your head and continued looking through the wires, there was only one possible wire it could be, the red. You remembered back to the gruelling hours of training your father forced you through with all the various equipments he would use to bring peace. Peace? While killing non-benders, even harmless benders? You pulled the red wire forcefully, anger seeping through your thoughts you felt the large water splash down as rain, and you were soaked in water, you looked at Katara who smiled and rushed to you.
'We did it,' she smiled 'I knew Zuko liked you for a good reason.' you let a smile out then, the same warmth you felt when Zuko held you. Your heart began speeding up, at the proximity again... this was becoming all too much now. The mission. Your resolve was waning, and you were beginning to realise there was more to your fathers plans. Katara drained the water from your clothes and looked up to see Aang coming to embrace her.
'Aang' She shouted happily as she embraced him 'Did you find any of the other assassins, she said as he held her close.
'No, any assassins on your end' he continued hand stroking her face, You looked away awkwardly to find Zuko waiting, sheepishly running his hand through his hair.
'So....' he started. You cursed your speeding pulse right now. 'You didn't end up getting hurt. Great.' he said awkwardly. You smiled.
'Yeah, You also, seem to be fine. Nice.' you were unfamiliar with this kind of talk. You'd never felt the comfort of knowing someone you like is safe? Like? you were getting friendly with your target. your brain was getting too confused now and muddled with thoughts of duty and your new attachment to your target.
You heard Aang and Katara snickering in the background.
'What are you both laughing at?' Zuko snapped.
And before you even knew it you felt a laugh bubbling up from your own throat. It had been ages since you'd felt this way. Had this been the most at peace you've been? was this what benders were actually like... You caught Zuko smiling at your laugh and you smiled back, you wished then that you were comrades, and not enemies,
Just as you and Zuko were walking toward Aang and Katara, someone nudged into the right of your shoulder. What was it with this damn shoulder. Pushing you into Zuko's side, he steadied you.
'Is everything okay ?' he asked thoughtfully. You scrambled away from his touch.
'Yeah it's nothing Firelord Zuko.' you said abruptly. Hands sweating. He turned his face away awkwardly as you both walked towards Aang and Katara.
'You can call me Zuko, If you're comfortable that is...' you stared at him surprised at the sudden request.
'It's just easier of course since we're together a lot of the time' Katara and Aang burst out laughing at the situation while Zuko went back to snapping at them, Your mind however was elsewhere.
A note in your hand from when the person nudged into you, you turned around quickly to read the note.
'Your father will meet you at the republic theatre alleyway at midnight.'
The colour drained from your face..... you turned over to the others. Carefree, laughing at snapping at eachother, that happiness seemed like something a lifetime away now. Tears pricked your eyes threatening to leave. You clearly had become soft the past week. Your father would notice that.

tropes : slow burn romance REMEMBER SLOWBURN!!!, assassinxfirelord (lol) grumpy x grumpy TWO IDIOTS DONT EVEN KNOW THEYRE FALLING IN LOVE - This all takes place after the movie loll
POV: After the defeat of last night you com e back to the meeting as if nothing had happened. You are assigned suspiciously as Zukos liaison, and must accompany him all day? what was the reason for this sudden closeness, you must be sure to keep aware not to reveal your identity to him.
The meeting started and continued with the festivities of Republic city. It seemed all these people did was celebrate despite the injustices faced by the poor and the weak. The president would be hosting in 2 weeks, the unveiling of the avatars statue, a symbol of the peace and hope achieved through the avatars duties. Peace? You thought about the non benders facing injustice and pain through the benders, you thought of the children orphaned through this search for peace. You thought of the fire nation. How they took your mother. You scoffed at their false peace. As soon as you realised what you'd done you felt icy glares boring holes through your head you coughed pretending as though you had a bad throat.
Firelord Zuko stared at you for a second with what looked like suspicion. But the expression left as soon as it had come and he continued on with the briefing. You made a mental note to not scoff at the Firelords words again. At least not in his presence.
After the meeting ended Firelord Zuko had left the room. And the other officials along with you all followed suit. You walked through the hallway of the city hall and were met by the Firelord himself.
'Raika, I need to talk to you.' he sounded serious, You smiled gracefully.
'Yes firelord is there anything you would like.' He eyed you for a second before putting his hand to his face sighing.
'Yes actually, I need you to become my liaison,' he ordered.
You wondered then why he would pick you to be his liaison your mind raced, had he caught you already? He couldn't have possibly, all the other officials would step over each other and take any measures necessary to upgrade to the position of liaison, you clearly had to be more careful. You thought for a second. If there was any suspicion this would be the perfect opportunity to remove it. You set your mind to it.
'Yes Firelord Zuko it would be my honour' You set yourself into a bow before he pressed on your shoulder lightly bringing you up from the bow You winced from the pressure and moved his hands off instantly, untrusting. You grabbed onto your shoulder. You would definitely have to get a new ointment. You looked up and caught him staring absentmindedly.
'Ah my shoulder I bumped into a person on my way here. Nothing serious. ' that was the best you could think of.
'Ah... yes of course.' he said thoughtfully, ' Also I hired you as my liaison because it gets me away from those old officials', and you smiled thinking how you both weren't too different. Not that it mattered of course.
'Ah also we'll be heading out now to our first task for the day, and then later on tonight we'll be attending a new pro bending tour, the final tournament will be watched over by myself and the Avatar.' You felt something then, a piece of important information.... you ignored it for now, as you had to get ready to follow around Firelord Zuko, or rather Zuko for the entire day.
The days tasks drudged along, court hearings that had to be attended to, companies creating new inventions to meet, and then finally you arrived at the arena, the arena was bustling with all kinds of people benders and non benders, it turns out strong benders beating each other in an arena was creating some real harmony. Everyone was screaming and jeering loudly. The Arena was electric. You walked behind Firelord Zuko through the crowd and made your way to his friend the Avatar, he greeted you kindly,
'Zuko, you managed to come, Whose that is she your date!' Aang asked bluntly, and a water bender nudged his side. While Zuko stood shocked.
He cleared his throat awkwardly, 'No this is my liaison. Raika.'
'Oh so you finally got rid of the boring Liaison from before.' Aang smiled. 'Nice to meet you Raika'
'Good to finally meet you too.' you nodded back trying to hold back any malice in your tone. After all the 100 years of the fire nation ravaging the lands, killing everyone, you found it hard to pretend to like the avatar. Although his efforts were admirable, the world would be better without him. With other benders under control allowing non benders to live peacefully without fear. That's what your father had told you. You remembered now. It had come back to you. The pro bending competition is where the other assassins would come take out the pro bending tournament and disrupt it as a sign to the avatar that they were going to take him down without bending. The announcers took you from your trail of thought and the rounds began, the crowds started jeering loudly, Zuko watched silently as Aang chattered his ear off while Katara cheered for the match. You looked around for any sign of your comrades, and spotted a suspicious man handing drinks out to the crowds, you both made eye contact and you knew then. Renzu, Your fathers right hand man, you were both the same age and he was annoyingly better than you at everything your father taught, he winked at you signalling to the door, and you got the signal. Did he have to wink though? Gross. you thought. You looked over to your right to see Zuko staring right at you, again with those guarded eyes. How long had he been looking? Your heart thumped against your chest, had he seen the exchange between you and Renzu? You didn't know what to do so you smiled at him graciously and turned your attention towards the thrashing happening on the stage. If he had anything to say it was clearly wiped away by you smiling at him.
'I need to go to get some air' you told him as he watched the match. He leaned towards you to get a closer ear, the proximity made you uncomfortable and you couldn't tell why, an uncomfortable feeling bubbling as he turned toward you hazel eyes scanning your face. Your heart stuttered for a beat and you continues louder this time. 'I'm GOING TO GET AIR I'LL BE BACK.' He nodded in dismissal and you made your way out of the deafening crowd.
You found your way through the quieter hall where Renzu was leaning against the wall playing with a knife. Out in public. Did this idiot have no spatial awareness,
' What's going on why haven't you started the mission' you asked.
'What? Can't I speak with an old friend?' he teased. You scoffed. All throughout your childhood he was nothing but a nuisance. Always going too far to beat you in training. All to make your father proud leaving you a disappointment to him.
'Just start the mission you idiot or father will have your head' You smiled tauntingly. You walked over and grabbed the knife out of his hand and he placed your arm behind you in a lock.
'What the hell are you doing' you spat.
'You have a secret admirer stalking you' he grinned nodding towards the end of the hallway. For a few beats silence, and then Zuko came out of the corner and dashed towards you both with frightening speed, Renzu laughed and threw you into Zuko leaving your shoulder in even more pain than before. What was it with everyone trying to dislocate the same shoulder. You winced in pain not even noticing the firelord was holding you towards him. You scanned him, he seemed to have gotten no damage from the exchange, he held you so firm.
'He's gone now' you sighed awkwardly. To that he scrambled at his feet and pushed you off himself. You also looked away awkwardly. You felt his gaze on you as he spoke.
'Did you know him? ' he asked. You were in too much pain for questions right now.
'No I have no idea who he was,' you lied hoping he wouldn't notice, he walked over then and scanned your shoulder, wait here, Katara will heal your shoulder' silence hung over you both. The awkward feeling was unbearable, you remembered how he held you tightly towards his firm chest, you felt safe… warm as how maybe someone else would feel if they were embraced. But it was not an embrace. He was not a person you knew, and to top it all off you had to kill him. You didn't have much time, and your resolve was weakening each time he saved you or let you go.
Katara came in shocked, 'What happened Zuko' she questioned, as she bended the water toward your shoulder, you calmed beneath the healing as you watched her carefully… She seemed kind, motherly almost. 'Well? are either of you going to answer? what's with the awkward silence…' She asked looking between you both, your eyes found Zuko's and the contact felt electric, there was something unreadable in his gaze. Like he knew something. You looked away awkwardly under the heat of his gaze, and he quickly followed suit. What was that all about?
'Someone came and attacked her, I think the assassins are still around the perimeter so we should hurry up and find them' Zuko returned. You felt the pain slipping from your shoulder as Katara bended. Were all benders this kind? No. The benders who took away your mother, the benders who oppressed the other non benders, you knew they weren't good, they were cruel, or was your father only telling you that so you would follow his orders? The thought felt like a strike along the face.
'Raika…' Zuko called out, ' Stay with Katara and search the arena from the inside, I'll inform Aang and we'll search the outside, we need to make sure the civilians are safe. You hadn't even thought about it, there were civilians here, non benders… surely your father wasn't planning to kill them too, you wouldn't let him. 'Yes Firelord Zuko we'll make sure the civilians aren't hurt.' you agreed. ' Good and make sure you defend yourself properly' he said bluntly. As if he cared. Katara looked uncomfortably between you, while Zuko cleared his throat, 'My liaison can't keep getting hurt' he replied stiffly to which he walked off leaving you and Katara to search around the maze of the arena.
Part 2 completee I LOVE ME A SLOWBURN IN CHAPTER 3 AND 4 IT STARTS PICKING UP THE ACTUAL FUN ROMANCE STUFF HAHAHAHAHA YESSSSS zuko is so angsty and awkward #iloveit
tropes : slow burn romance REMEMBER SLOWBURN!!!, assassinxfirelord (lol) grumpy x grumpy - This all takes place after the movie loll
POV: As part of the secret group of assassins you've been ordered by your father to infiltrate republic city's celebration after the Aang and his friends defeated the Taga. You must kill the fire lord and his allies due to his affiliation with the avatar and bring a new order to the world without the avatar. However things don't all go to plan as you navigate your ways through republic city disguised as one of Zuko's council, will you kill him... or will useless emotions get in your way of revenge.
You knew what you had to do. You also knew that a month wasn't enough time to gain the trust of the Firelord. However your scheming father had already figured a way for you get close enough to the fire lord as one of his government officials, even going as far to give you a fake family and alias; Raika. You walked through the bustling streets, new automobiles, were bumping through the cobble stone streets. You crossed the road, the sound of your heels tapping was drowned out by the hustle and bustle of The lit streets. Although it was late at night, celebrations were taking place with stalls selling warm goods. Fire bending kids running along with earth benders.
Republic city.
The city that held the false dreams of an equal nation, city which forgot about the struggle that the non benders faced against the benders. Where wwas this great harmony when the avatar wasn't here? There wasn't. You knew first hand as your mother was killed by the fire nation. Good. A reminder of why you were sent here in the first place.
Your Father wanted to bring real freedom to the those who couldn't bend, through ending the rule of the avatar, you weren't allowed a say in him sending you here. You sighed as you made it to the building, you had to seem somewhat likeable to Zuko and his comrades, you'd give him grace when you killed him since it was a night of celebration. You walked into the council building. You looked to find the other fire nation officials representing the fire nation. Ahh. Old men. You'd have to be around these stinky rags.
You scanned the room trying to find Zuko, he didn't look like he was the Firelord Ozai, from what you'd heard he seemed to be fair. Not that it mattered to you. His father was why your mother was dead, you kept looking until you found him. His hair was in a neat bun, he laughed brightly with what was unmistakeably the avatar. He looked kind almost as he laughed, nose wrinkled, eyes dancing with humour. It's too bad he had to die. Just in that moment you caught eyes with him, you quickly smiled, politely, malice unidentifiable between your wide smile. He took a moment to look at you before nodding calmly. Least he could do was smile you thought. But you continued along your way, you'd spotted him now and that was enough for the night. You stayed throughout the speech of the avatar, impressed by his way with words. But after a while you decided to leave, tonight you would complete your first task.
You walked away calmly before you were stopped in your tracks, Zuko held your wrist firmly, you were ready to kick him in the shins.
'Raika was it?' A voice questioned calmly, you turned back to see the firelord, he let go as you bowed,
'Firelord. How are you doing this evening?' You asked your tone a bit too sweet.
'It's fine considering a day before I almost died twice' He deadpanned, laughing tiredly. Weariness hung on his brow, however it didn't take away from his looks. Objectively of course. You felt your father cursing at you. You were wasting time. you quickly thought of a distraction.
'Sorry Firelord, I have business to attend to, I'll see you tomorrow at the councillors meeting.' You bowed, moving rapidly to create distance,
'Wait- ' but you had already walked far enough, you left the council building and made your way swiftly to the nearest alley before you changed into dark grey commoner cloak and a mask. Hair tied neatly.
You rushed through the shadows and cracks of the beating heart of republic city before you found yourself at the Firelords apartment. Of course it had to be the highest one. You looked around catching only three soldiers pretending the north , south of the apartment which meant you could perfectly climb up through the blind spot, you climbed through the tower effortlessly, as an assassin your father had to train you from acrobatics, knife wielding to chi blocking, making you train for hours, and if you weren't up to standard, you were thrown into a cell for the night with no food until you did the next day. A great man. But not father. He was nothing like your mother... You almost slipped on the cobblestone of the roof below, you quickly grasped the rail and lifted yourself onto the apartment, you snuck into the house and looked around for any places to hide poison, anywhere you could hide to get him in his sleep, you kept looking around as well for any information on his comrades, as you looked through his draw the front door opened.
The firelord stood in the hallway, you both exchanged stares under silence.
'I didn't expect any guests' he smirked.
'I'm here to deliver something...' you said as you carefully took the knife at your back before throwing it at his face.
'What a lovely gift' he dodged, before he swiftly shot fire into your face, you dodged again as he kept going, reaching to block his chi, so he could stop stop shooting this stupid fire at you. Does he even know he's setting his own apartment on fire? This idiot.
'You idiot. You benders only know how to destroy don't you, Just like your father.' You spat not knowing where the sudden spike of emotions came from.
He then slammed you then against the wall face inches away from your own, his eyes truly were that of a fire bender, passionate and angry.
'Too busy talking in a fight, you must be the real idiot' he grinned.
You tried to escape but his heavy body taking the wind from your lungs, You tried to move out of his grasp but apparently the Firelords only skill wasn't to blast fire. He could fight. He reached for your mask, but you used that chance to swipe your knife across his face causing him to back away while you escaped the building.
That idiot almost burned his whole place down and got stabbed so easily, he's lucky you escaped in time or else he would have met his untimely end much sooner.
You shifted quietly into the shadows of republic city, as the remaining whispers of night fall dead with the sun rising.
-THE DAY AFTER-
You grabbed your arm, certain it was bruised from last night's failed task, remembering how the Firelord used his whole weight to slam you into the wall, you sighed as you walked into the city hall. A meeting after last night was just what you needed. You walked into the meeting room where all the other officials sat waiting. Waiting for the Firelord to arrive. Not long after you were seated he arrived, a fresh scar on his face, The other officials stood up, all of them gasping and bowing
' Firelord Zuko! We heard about what happened' the first offiical Kaizen said. Although he didn't seem to upset about it. You felt a tinge of humour from his tone almost. Seemed that the Firelord has many enemies. You smiled at that.
'Rakia? What's so amusing ' Firelord Zuko questioned bitterly.
'Nothing, Firelord,' you bowed graciously, you couldn't get caught. Not this early. 'We will find whoever did this to you immediately' You smiled.
'I'm sure you all will' he saidthoughtfully. ' We will now start the meeting, sit.' he ordered.

pov: Satoru(Fratjo), Satashi (Nerdjo) and you had been a trio since childhood, all throughout high school, but then came college and while Sato had become popular among all the other students, and while he became the popular kid you and Toru ended up hanging out without him as he became busier, with Satos frat party coming up, Toru invites you to join them so that he actually knows someone and as you both arrive old memories and feelings resurface and suddenly you're faced with an opportunity to rekindle your friendship with your childhood crush...
You and Satashi sat together in the cafeteria, while he blabbers on about a cool theory he learnt during his engineering class and usually you would have been all over it asking him questions being focused but you were too distracted by the group behind Satashi, all laughing giggling at a joke made by your former friend Satoru, you thought back to how it would have been you and Satashi laughing with him in the past, but for the past 6 months there has been radio silence from him you never even texted anymore , he just smiled at you and Satashi in the corridors and whenever he had a chance to speak with you and Satashi he was pulled away by his loud frat buddies, ugh you hated them. They were so pretentious, and so was Satoru but at least he was never this bad? or had I always ignored it just because i liked him....
'Hello, Hellooo?' Satashi waved his hand in your face, 'Did you even hear anything I said right now?' he sighed, he looked behind him to catch what you were looking at and turned back sighing, 'You getting upset at your boyfriend over there? I don't get why he hangs out with those snobs, but he says they're nice enough, I guess he has to bear with them anyway if he wants to get that ice hockey scholarship.' Satashi knew you've liked Satoru since high school, but you promised him not to say because you could not handle the idiot being cocky about you liking him. Not that it mattered now, you wish you could have even a chance to tell him how you felt.
'Still it wouldn't kill for him to hang out with us once in a while and my birthday's coming up in 2 weeks? He won't even hang out with us I bet like we used to.' you sighed placing your hand under your chin, Satashi sighed.
'I know and he wants me to go to his frat party, I don't want to be around those dumbasses.' Then suddenly an idea popped up in your head 'What if I come with you? At least we could chill together as a trio a bit and we could speak to him?' you asked hopefully.
'I don't know... I have to finish my project due in 2 weeks' he hesitated.
'2 weeks? You have plenty time, ' you asked 'The next time we study coffee's on me?' You hoped the bribe would work. He rolled his eyes.
'Fine' He sighed, 'but It's today so I'll pick you up at 10...Also make that coffee for a week.' He said annoyingly
-At the party-
You and Satashi finally arrived, You could hear the music booming from outside the frat house, you and Satashi looked at eachother both already dreading the sweaty loud atmosphere, but you went in regardless.
You stepped into the crowd of warm bodies, people filled from all corners, music deafening, dim lights flashing over the crowd. You scanned over the room while Satashi walked away mentioning something about getting some drinks, you smiled and said that you'd wait here. The music blared louder and you felt yourself being pushed forward by a crowd of guys behind you. You looked back cursing them in your head. The guy who bumped into you towered over you, biceps flexing as he put his hands through his hair,
'Sorry about that' he smirked. Satoru. His hair was ruffled under his cap, he looked tipsy, cheeks flushed to his ears,
' No way! What are you doing out here? ' he exclaimed loudly reaching in for a hug, he seemed excited to see you, you hugged him back dizzy from how good he smelled. Why did he have to be so fine.
'Hey satoru' you said not knowing how to start the convo,
'Satashi! you brought YN is she your date or something bro?' he joked, but you felt a sharp tone of jealousy
'sure' he smirked annoyingly looking over to you. was he trying to make Satoru jealous?
You looked to Satoru whose eyes slightly widened, If he was shocked though he wasn't giving anything away, you smiled as they argued like kids. It felt like old times.
As the party started filling even more songs began to play louder and Toru somehow became drunk after 3 drinks. You should have kept a better eye on him.
'I need to go to the toilet' he gagged, you and Satoru both laughed. Satoru was dragged back to play snooker with his friends but you caught his half lidded gaze on you, like a magnet, he never pulled away, you stared right back at him, making him smirk, smirk?? you wondered if there was a chance he liked you back, could he? Just then you were pulled away from your thoughts by a pair of hands sliding up your waist. You jerked away.
'wtf?' you glared at the pink haired man, tattoos curling around his bicep and arms.
'I just wanna dance,' '. So you wanna play hard to get?' he smirked.
You were about to slap him across his stupid face before Someone came wrapping their arm around your waist, the familliar scent and feel filled your senses, you looked up at Sato who glared the guy down. Turning to you.
'Who tf is this guy babe' he asked. You felt weak in the knees. But you played along so this creep would leave you alone.
'I don't know.' you said leaning into his warmth.
The pink haired guy walked away angrily cursing under his breath, Satoru held onto you though, his large hands splayed across your waist, you tried to leave his embrace but he held your arm firmly.
'Wait in my car, I'll get Satashi, im taking you guys home'. His voice was serious. You wanted to argue back and said you were fine, but you didn't mind leaving the slimy party after what just happened.
'Yeah okay' You said awkwardly.
In the car ride home you and Satoru sat awkwardly, while Satashi babbled until he snored silently in the car. You felt like a burden, you know Sato was probably having a good time with his friends, he parked at your place, and the silence then was deafening...
' About what happened back there, I didn't mean to get you involved like that you didn't have to pretend to be my boyfriend. Sorry.' You rambled awkwardly. He laughed. Now you felt even more awkward.
'What are you laughing at weirdo?' you huffed. 'I just gave you an apology'
'Since when do you apologise?' He laughed 'Also don't worry about it babe. Just give me a kiss on the cheek as a reward' he laughed pointing at his cheek. You weren't gonna let him just have all the fun,
'Sure' you said feigning nonchalance, as you kissed his cheek, you loved the shocked expression on his face.
'Thanks for tonight.' you said going to leave the car before he grabbed your hand and turned your face toward him with the other, he stared at you through lidded eyes in the car, he brought his face towards yours slowly and you closed your eyes, leaning into his touch, but then he let go, did he not like you back? for a second you thought he liked you back....
He sighed, and looked at you as if an idea came to mind ' You wanna return the favour?' He smirked and it sent flutters through your stomach.
'With what?'
'Some sorority chick I hooked up with won't go away, If my girlfriend was there though she might leave me alone.
You were shocked, he casually admitted to hooking up with a sorority chick and wanted you to keep up this act? You'd just get your feelings hurt, but on the other hand this was a chance to finally get close to him again...
'Sure' You said already regretting the decision.
That's the end of part 1, Fratjo is so fun to write hes so hot and omg nerdjo is such a cutie. Also i think im addicted to the fake dating trope.
Hide and seek with the princess H. Iwaizumi Part 2:
Part 1
Synopsis: A sudden confession from your childhood crush, and a masquerade ball to attend to as your father won't stop until you find a suitor, In pursuit of some sort of fun tonight at the ball you come up with a fantastic idea to ensure you and Iwaizumi both made the best of it.
You gazed into Iwaizumi's stormy eyes, shock eclipsing your thoughts. You looked into his eyes, the depths swirling with uncertainty. How could you not have noticed during all the times you walked along the park, reading together, laughing about nonsense, how had you not known he felt the same for you?
Tch. Now you felt as though you felt just as foolish as him. You brought you forced yourself out of your thoughts. Despite the stupidity of it, you knew now that you could finally confess to your childhood friend. You knew that some how the two of you would find a way to make it work.
'Iwaizumi I feel-' you heard hurried footsteps causing you to pause and so must have Iwaizumi because in one swift motion he lifted you both up to your feet and pushed you away as though seconds ago he didn't want to let go. what perfect timing for someone to waltz into the garden you thought irritably as you wiped your skirts.
'Princess? Where are you we must get you ready for the ball' she snapped. You looked at Iwaizumi who awkwardly looked at the maid with his arms crossed back to his stoic self. He sniffed and looked around avoiding eye contact with the maid. She had become like a mother to the both of you and made it a point to pick on Iwaizumi then for his suspiciousness.
'And you? What are you standing around here for like a rock? The both of you get into the castle and start getting ready if the daughters host of the ball is not ready on time he will have all our heads' she exhaled as she ushered you both out the garden, and into the castle to get ready.
You looked in the mirror, as your maid threaded your hair gently into the most beautiful bun, delicately weaved with baby's breaths. It agreed beautifully with the embroidered whispers of cream and gold thread of your gown. You played with the ribbon on your neck dreading the evening to come.
'Stupid ball. I do not want to go. Can't you tell father that I am not feeling very well? ' you complained. Fake coughing as though you had gotten down with something.
'Don't you even think of it young lady.' she Grumbled. 'You know your father wants you to find a suitor as soon as possible' at that you looked at Iwaizumi's reflection in the mirror. His eyes were already on you, his brows were furrowed slightly, it looked as though it pained him to be even in the same room as you. You looked away flustered from the eye contact, you could only hold it for so long. You drifted into your thoughts wishing he would be there at the ball not as a knight for once, but as the enchanting prince from her tales. He would kiss her hand and ask to dance, and they would dance so beautifully with his large hands gripping her waist tightly, a wordless vow to never let her go, swirling breathlessly along the floor as one. If only. Until you thought.
What if you snuck Iwaizumi into the ball? He would have been there anyway as your protector. But what if you snuck him instead as your prince… you looked at Iwaizumi again who was now gazing outside the window in a daze. You could definitely make this work. You just needed to go to fathers chamber to retrieve the right mask and steal one of his suits. You remembered a set of suits coming from a far away land beautifully embellished in exotic patterns being much too big for your father, clearly someone had been weaving grand tales about his stature. Anyway. You had to focus. You smiled at your maid as she showered you in compliments and took it as your chance to finally set your plan in motion.
'Thank you for your help I feel beautiful' You gushed at her. ' You don't have to worry now me and Iwaizumi will make our way downstairs now' turning to Iwaizumi ' Won't we?'
' Yes I shall see she is taken care off' he promised.
'Yes, yes you always do Iwaizumi' she waved him off 'I'll see you both tomorrow remember to find yourself a handsome young man? And Iwaizumi. Do remember to remind her of that.' she smiled. He nodded thoughtfully as she left, leaving you both in the damning silence of the room. But there was not a second to waste you would see to it that Iwaizumi went to the ball. So you made haste.
'Iwaizumi, we don't have much time but I need to quickly go to my parents chamber to retrieve my mask.'
' Would you like me to stay here?' he asked.
'If you would like - there are guards all over the castle today so it should not be an issue. I'll be back quickly' you said as he nodded.
'Oh and princess you look beautiful in your gown today' Iwaizumi smiled almost solemnly, the fool didn't even have your answer yet and he was acting as if he had already been rejected, but his compliment made you flush with heat did he think he was a rake all of a sudden.
'Thank you, I'll go get my mask now then,' you blurted awkwardly as you left the room, you sighed as soon as you left. Finally you could have some fun at the ball you thought as you went to retrieve the mask and his outfit for the masquerade, you quickly looked for something to match your dress from your mothers drawers and found a cream half face mask framed in gold and decorated with gold floral embellishments all throughout the mask, this would do you thought.
You then looked through your fathers closet and found the exotic suits stuffed in the same corner, as months before, you looked to find one tall and wide enough to fit Iwaizumi and found a black suit with silver embroidery winding along the suit like foliage, perfect you thought, a mysterious outfit for our mysterious stormy prince. You found a silver half mask from your fathers draw. You ran through the castle back to your room with suit and masks in hand, you smiled as your plan was coming together perfectly.
You walked into the room and found Iwaizumi lazing around in his Armor with his foot on your vanity. 'Get your stinky feet off' you joked as he moving them off at tortoise pace. 'Iwaizumi we do not have time for this hurry!' you exclaimed as you shoved the clothes and mask on to him. His eyebrows cocked in confusion.
' You do not mean for me to change into this do you' he scoffed. Holding the fabrics as if they were outlandish.
'Yes I do, of course I do' you insisted. 'And if you do not hurry we will be late, DO YOU WANT FATHER TO HAVE BOTH OUR HEADS?' you warned. 'But you cannot just hand me over a princes clothes and expect me to be a prince' he complained.
'You will because your fairy godmother said so' you explained,
'But I'm a knight? I can't do this' he reasoned.
'Yes you can, no one will expect other wise it's a masquerade ball for god's sake, and also I do not want to dance with all those silly princes who just drink and make ludicrously dull jokes. Please? If you do this one wish for me I'll make sure to do any wish that you would like too!' you grinned hopefully. You saw the deliberation furrowing his brows,
'Well are you going to stand there and watch me undress princess' he teased irritably, you immediately turned awkwardly faced the door and walked out cussing him under your breath. Waiting outside the door, and you didn't have to wait long as soon an arm grabbed you through pulling you back into the room. Where before you stood the most breath-taking prince. You stood shamelessly staring, as he messed with his hair awkwardly looking to the side. The suit fit so well as though it were made just for him, his broad shoulders confidently wound with the silver embroidery that wrapped around his arms.
'You should thank your fairy god princess, you look like a marvellous prince' you quipped trying to lighten the atmosphere, he chuckled.
'Does this mean the whole suit turn into rags at the final stroke of 12' he joked. Menacingly charming. You both laughed and you filled him on your amazing plan to sneak him into the ball.
'Alright? So do you remember our plan for tonight? thwart off any hideously boring suitors and make sure tonight is filled with as much masquerade mischief as possible. He nodded and you both got up, you were filled with excitement for tonight's ball for once. You couldn't believe you had not done this before.
'Princess… do make sure to remember one important thing, at 12, that is when I will take my wish.' he drawled.. gaze drawn to your lips like a magnet. Your eyes widened and he just slipped out the door just as planned and found his way to the masquerade ball. Leaving you again at a loss for words. You seriously had to get it together.
Part 2 whimsical masquerade ball done. Bridgerton season 4 masquerade was so flipping good lowkirkenuinely made me want to go to one too.
Hide and seek with the princess H. Iwaizumi part 3:
part 1 part 2
Synopsis: You both had finally done it. You successfully snuck into the ballroom, and what would await you both that night was mindless dancing , soft glances another game of hide and seek and a promise to be kept at midnight.
You and Iwaizumi tread as silently as possible through the dimly lit hallway, the merriment and music becoming louder. You looked at Iwaizumi and couldn't believe the sight. The muscles in his jaw tightened under the soft yellow light. Nervous no doubt.
'Are you scared of a ball?' You whispered mischievously.
He scoffed, 'I'm a knight don't be an idiot'
'No. Tonight your a handsome mysterious prince travelling to see the king. Also don't underestimate court- These royals can be quite fiendish if they'd like.' You warned. Maybe an overreaction, but they do throw quite a mean glare. He nodded eyes in the distance. Clearly not heeding your warning.
As you finally arrived you felt the heat warm your skin as a cacophony of senses overwhelmed you the thick perfume lingering in the hair, the loud music piercing through the throng of royalty who were chattering nonsense and lavishing in the chaos of merriment, there was barely enough space to walk through with the corners of the large ballroom packed with mysterious personalities in vibrant masks adding to their allure each kept its own secret tonight. Yours was standing right behind you. You led Iwaizumi through to a corner you saw in the distance which was less packed with foolish nobility.
You had both made it on time, just fast enough to be able to greet your father at his throne. You looked to find him so that you may greet him but he wasn't on his throne. You would find him later you thought. While you were focused on looking for your father a lady in a deep red mask spiralling with gold and silver, had approached Iwaizumi and curtsied, she looked beautiful. You felt a pang in your heart. But either way you mustn't let this opportunity to integrate Iwaizumi into the ball. You nudged him signalling him to go over to her.
'ASK HER TO DANCE YOU IDIOT, ITS WHAT PRINCES DO,' you whispered forcefully.
'Oh' Iwaizumi stuttered. 'Would you like to dance my lady?' he questioned hesitantly. You couldn't see her reply with Iwaizumi's broad back covering her, (yum) however you could tell it was a yes as soon as he held his hand into her much smaller one and led her to the floor to dance.
You smiled successfully as you still looked for your father. Also keeping an eye on Iwaizumi, in all truth you began only looking at Iwaizumi when a broad white suit blocked your view. You internally sighed. He wore a mask of white, blonde curls wound delicately above the masks silver lining.
'Princess would you allow me to-'
' To dance? Yes of course let us make it in time for this one.' You dragged him to the floor and stood in the row of masks. The music started. This way you could keep a closer eye on Iwaizumi you thought. You went through the movements of the dance with ease and so did Iwaizumi. Considering how you practiced swordplay with the idiot he should at least help you with learning to dance. You felt his gaze drawn to you, like a magnet you couldn't help but bring yourself to follow suit. The music softened as all that took your mind was the image of his eyes on yours as you danced with the mysterious man in white. As the steps slowed and you both bowed and curtsied you found yourself looking for Iwaizumi for the next dance.
You caught his eye and walked towards him, smiling knowing that you would finally be able to dance with Iwaizumi in somewhere other than under your tutors supervision but in a romantic masquerade ball such as this.
' Would you care to-' Iwaizumi started
'Yes, yes I would' you said with a wide grin.
'care to tell me where the refreshments are.. I'm thirsty after that dance.' he finished smirking. You rolled your eyes.
' Fine I'll get it for you myself you stay here.' You sighed irritated, right when a large calloused hand grabbed your wrist, you looked up at the prince smiling at you charmingly , eyes wrinkled in mischief.
' I was joking princess, would you please allow me this dance' he questioned adding a mock bow right after.
'Of course my prince' you giggled as you curtsied back.
You both joined the row of masks again, not bothering to hide your content as you smiled from ear to ear like a fool, and when you looked in front of you you saw the mirror of your joy in your fairy-tale prince.
The music begun wistfully, Iwaizumi's heavy hand lay rest on the small of your back, a slower dance. Your feet in sync as you both stepped and spun effortlessly, just as you had when you were children, he spun you delicately bringing you close into him, the proximity dizzying. You looked into his eyes, excitement setting your heart ablaze. You hoped he could tell just how elated you were, you only could hear the beat of the music as the rest of the ballroom disappeared softly, just you in Iwaizumi's arms as he watched you carefully. Held you delicately as though you were porcelain, until the music had ended and you both stood back bowing and curtsying smiling like drunk fools, despite the lack of drinks.
'Not too bad princess' Iwaizumi smirked seeming like he was finally loose of worry and burden.
'Of course I'm a princess of many skills' you agreed jokingly.
'Many skills indeed! Would you care to introduce yourself young man, you and my daughter seem to be having quite a time.' A powerful voice commanded. Father. You quickly held Iwaizumi's hands nudging him to speak.
'Yes my king, your daughter is an excellent dancer, and an even more enchanting character, I am having a more than pleasant time with her' Iwaizumi spoke with confidence, he looked at you adoringly, your prince. You felt the masquerade quieten as the nobility gathered knowledge for their next chatter, but it was cut short.
'Good.' Your father smiled. 'It's about time you met someone.' Your father teased.
'You actually look quite familiar young man. What kingdom do you hail from?' your father questioned, eyes focused.
'Yes, father thankyou.' you abruptly spoke, praying he wouldn't continue. Praying for a distraction, and luckily your father's servant came to him to remind him to greet very important guests. He turned with a nod of goodbye and you both curtsied and bowed to him. As soon as he left you took off to find a refreshment, you almost collapsed from shock when your father caught you with Iwaizumi. You never thought he would actually recognise him. In all fairness Iwaizumi had been in that castle as long as you could remember. You reached the refreshments and grabbed the fruit punch, drinking it immediately, as though it were first drink in days.
'Princess the night is almost over, how about one more game?' Iwaizumi invited, it felt as though the masquerade had brought out a little Spontaneity in him. You were glad at that.
'I would find you immediately.' You challenged gleefully.
'lets us see' He whispered teasingly.
'10 seconds is all you have' you smiled as Iwaizumi started disappearing into the crowd. You knew where he would be. You weaved yourself through the flock of masks, stepping into the hallway leading into the garden, heart pounding faster with each step. Until you reached the garden finally, the soft moonlight cascading into the garden bringing to life the night, You prince stood in a familiar spot, one from earlier today actually, he turned once he heard your footsteps, a genuine smile on his face, glowing under the moonlight his harsh brows softening at you, as he reached to grab your hands, you took now as your chance to give him your response.
'Iwaizumi I have to say something first. Earlier when you wanted to know whether a princess and a knight could fall in love. I wanted to tell you it was, because I already had.' you managed, awkwardly but nonetheless you finally confessed. The silence held you on edge as you waited for Iwaizumi's response. Waiting for what he would say. You were thrust out of your reverie as he leaned in and placed a soft kiss on your neck, gently moving to kiss your cheek, hands moving to your face slowly, as you both stared into one another,
'I love you too, you are the dearest thing to me, after all these years I wouldn't know what it would be like to be without your joy and light.' He continued hesitantly. 'Princess, for my wish. I wish to be with you, forever I wish for us to not hide our affections, I wish we-'
You placed a soft kiss on his lips. 'I promise we will find a way to grant this wish' you whispered as you held his face gently. He stroked your face and hugged you, embracing you under the moonlight, not as a knight or a princess but as two young lovers. Who would somehow find a way to fall in love.
ok part 3 final part lowkey sloppy but idc cuz i love this imagine with Iwaizumi as a knight YUMMY. yearning stoic knight like lidewally a dream.
icl i didnt even proof read this one so oops for grammar mistakes
Hide and seek with the princess H. Iwaizumi x Princess reader.
Posting this fic on a03 too probs eehheeheh
Synopsis: Iwaizumi is your royal guard who must accompany you at all times, keeping you from any dangers; well whatever dangers could possibly be lurking in a peaceful castle. You've known each other since you were little and have developed a strong bond for each other, a bond that may be love...
tropes: princess x knight, forbidden love, fluff.
The sun glazed over your face as your hair flew gently in the wind. Your bare feet kissed the cobbled stone as you ran through the labyrinth of flowers and growth, all while a certain grumpy knight counted impatiently to 10.
'1, 2, 6-' he shouted. Ever the impatient knight he was.
'HEY! NO SKIPPING NUMBERS IWAIZUMI' you smiled, as you walked carefully across the stream. to find refuge behind the willow tree you looked through the foliage to see metal gleaming under the heat. He must be boiling in all that armour.
You're mind ran absentmindedly, disrupted by the annoyed yell of Iwaizumi.
'Get ready princess it'll find you even quicker than the last time',
'We'll see about that' you grinned impishly.
But you knew Iwaizumi was good at always finding your hiding spot, after all you two had been playing hide and seek for years. Because of your fathers politics, there was never any trouble for Iwaizumi. So his days filled with boredom according to him, were spent playing hide and seek with you, drawing together, even wrestling, and sword fighting while you were still kids at least.
As you and Iwaizumi grew older despite you're closeness, it had definitely become much more awkward. With growing into a young woman and him growing into a Young man. A ridiculously dashing one at that too. Iwaizumi looked as if he was out of a tale, a short black crown of hair, his face tan after days spent training in the heat, his stern but full lips and his most beautiful feature his thunderous grey eyes which oozed control and quiet strength.
You sighed, holding on to the branch of the willow tree, you wondered if he knew realise how ridiculously in love with him you were, you only found out for certain you were head over heels for him when you were sixteen. You both stood in your chamber which had practically become a library.
' What would anyone need all these novels for' he grimaced.
'Some people actually enjoy enriching their minds' you chimed smugly.
Iwaizumi then picked up the book and read the title triumphantly, ' A collection of chivalric romances' you made eye contact with him and he grinned mischievously as he picked up another book titled ' The Nymph and the Cruel King, The tale of the-' you snatched it out of his hands and turned your back as your cheeks heated. ' Oh wise princess I hope to become as learned as you too one day', He cackled and leaned lazily across your vanity, looking outside the window across the large compounds of the castle.
As your cheeks cooled you reached for a book to distract yourself from the hindrance in the corner, but it was placed too high on the shelf, and you certainly weren't asking that dim-wit for help, so you grabbed a chair to step on and reached, you knew if you reached just a little further.... just a little more-
All of a sudden the chair tipped and in a swift movement Iwaizumi steadied the chair with his arm, while you landed bottom first onto the chair. The room was completely silent as you both stared into one another's souls, breaths raggedly intertwined, as the adrenaline coursed through your veins. His face was so close, he was towering over you, you could feel the breaths from his parted lips graze the fuzz on your cheeks, you stared deeply into one another, his eyes tracked its way down to your lips, and it was then you realised his other arm was gripped on your waist. You stayed like that for what felt like eons.
Bonk! A book slammed onto Iwaizumi's head. He cursed and moved to touch his head, you snorted and wheezed at his misfortune,
'What are you laughing at you brat!' He fumed.
'Nothing nothing it's just that you looked like such an idi-'
Bonk! How the roles had reversed, Iwaizumi cackled at you while you sheepishly stroked the top of your head too embarrassed to look him in the eye.
'what was that you were saying?' he chuckled. Tsk. What an idiot you thought. But you were glad for the refuge from just a moment ago between you and Iwaizumi. You hoped he hadn't noticed how flustered you were just then.....
Back to present day you stood picking leaves from the tree, being careful not to make a sound,
'Princess I bet I'm close' boasted, and although he was on your tail, you wouldn't give up so easily. You both had a rule to not change hiding spots as the gardens were so large. But what's the fun in losing this early on. You decided then. YOU RAN FOR IT.
You were doing well before you stepped on a branch which gave you away.
'I have you now idiot' Iwaizumi grinned almost as if he was having fun. He chased you through the trees. He knew he was close when he spotted your hair in the wind. She would have to reveal herself sooner or later in the open he thought. And just as he thought, you did.
Iwaizumi chased you through the stream as you eventually began losing speed. We ran through the gardens, distance closing, you looked back to check the distance. Iwaizumi took his chance, he grabbed your arm. He had finally caught her. Somehow though you managed to lose balance and we both tumbled to the floor, he grabbed onto your head with his hand and placed his other elbow into the ground to break the fall.
You were now on the open grass of the garden. Again in the same awkward position as you were 17. However this time it felt different. Iwaizumi stared at you with something a little more in his eyes, the storm within the dark grey of his eyes brewing. You looked down at his cheeks, sprinkled with pink. That same heavy tension weighed on you again. Until you couldn't bare it any longer.
'Iwaizumi?' you breathed. 'Are you all right?' his gaze stuck for a few seconds longer. ' Is your arm okay? That was quite the fall there' you chuckled awkwardly. He just stared. 'Princess... those tales you read of knights secretly courting beautiful princesses...' he trailed off as if struck by something.
'What about them?' you urged. 'Iwaizumi?' He lifted you both up, so that you were sitting between him. Face as close as before.
'It is an insolent idea forget I even begun to mention it' he muttered. You held his hands then and looked into his eyes, they widened slightly in shock.
'Iwaizumi please. Whatever it is you can tell-'
He grabbed your hand then and kissed your wrist ever so gently. Reverently. The contact made you're face heat and sent warmth through your heart.
'Do you think a princess and a knight can be in love?' he questioned. Eyes set upon you pleadingly.
okieee doneee gonna hopefully post part 2 soon but tell me what you guys think!
