I’m personally of the opinion that non violence has, historically, never worked. The test case given in its favour is Indian independence but I’m Indian and it only takes a few months of critically studying India to realise that world war 2 (violence) played a far bigger role than whatever dharna Gandhi did, the reason his tactics worked to the extent that they did because his dying threatened the British with violence, we got totally screwed over in the process of independence, and the whole thing resulted in massive, large spread violence that lasts to this day.

Non violence? For whom? The Indian elite that were tight with the English and just inherited their role and did not bring any meaningful to the power structures?
