The Department of Extraordinary Lobsters is putting on their Giant Lobster Claws to celebrate the discovery of this magical moon lobster, recently caught by fisherman off the coast of Maine. The pearlescent lobster, whose enchanting coloring is most likely the result of leucism, was thrown back into the sea after the fisherman discovered she was a lady lobster.

i have a question about ur post here: post/139121153514/can-i-tell-you-a-secret-you-dont-have-to-be-in-a -- i mean, im sorry to bother you, and i understand the whole point, but it's like..what if uve never been in a relationship and ur 22 yrs old and just. dont u think its a little natural to...look for something? someone? when everyone else has had that taste of how it feels like to be with someone, have ur own person?
sometimes our people, and i mean this very much, shouldn’t be in a relationship with us romantically.
sometimes your person is the girl you met back in gradeschool and you still talk to at 24, and she is your person because when you say ughhhh she knows which tub of ice cream to reach for. she is your person because she knows how to run you off your legs when you need running and she is your person because she also knows you like silence, sometimes, when nobody is looking. you might kiss her at parties but she will never, ever be your partner romantically - she is still your partner in crime, but what’s important is that you’re both going to be eighty and on a porch together, roasting each other calmly.
sometimes your person is people, one person for talking about the inky blackness with and one person for talking about the ink under your skin and the d&d fanfic you’re writing without blushing and one person to talk about the chemical properties of ink with - and these people are your support system and they are your people because they each hold a little part of you. if they guard it, if they give you a little piece back, if the exchange is mutual: they become a little tower around you, taking you up, and up, to taste the clouds.
sometimes your person is a dog or a cat. sometimes your person needs to be an animal because you’re taking a break from people right now even if that break lasts forever.
sometimes your person is a hobby. my person has always been writing and while i beg her every morning for a kiss i’ve got to say she’s quite the fickle mistress. just yesterday she waited until midnight before biting me on the lips.
i think often we’re seduced by seduction and how could we not be. it’s told like the backbone of every fairytale. but some of us - we’re drawn to the parts around it, to the adventure, to the transformation, to the world of girlfish or dragons or the great outdoors. we think that the romance has to come as part of it because otherwise our story would remain unfinished; there’s never a happy ending without a wedding, i mean, really, shakespeare, what were you thinking. our parents fret we won’t reproduce (quelle horreur!!) and that, without children, our life will snuff out without importance. our friends marry and we watch them in churches thinking: will i ever be that dizzyingly happy without this? isn’t this the formula they gave us?
but i’ve found there are plenty of people living alone in the mountains, happy enough for a band of thieves. i’ve found people who never marry and tell me it’s the secret to long living. and i’ve found people who waited until their 60′s, or who reassure me that 30 is the only time that you really know everything and not to squander my youth on loving. i’ve heard a lot of advice on why i should or should not sell or guard my heart and i think it comes down to this: if it doesn’t make you happy, don’t do it. the people we find more often find us. keep an open heart, of course, if that’s what you want. but if you’re searching because it’s been told to you that you must search, you’re not following your heart.
your people won’t be hard. yes, sometimes you’ve got to look a little bit - we all have such odd ways of meeting the right fit - but they’ll slide into your life like a puzzle piece. and sometimes your people is just you, finding yourself, and realizing: hey, i like being friends with me.
there is no one path to love. if it feels right, keep going.

Researchers have discovered a species of extinct dolphin off the coast of South Carolina.
The species, named Inermorostrum xenops, lived during the same period as Coronodon havensteini, a species of ancient whale announced recently by investigators at New York Institute of Technology College of Osteopathic Medicine and College of Charleston in Current Biology.
The skull of Inermorostrum was discovered by a diver in the Wando River in Charleston, just miles from the location where Coronodon’s remains were found, and presents the first clear evidence of suction feeding in echolocating sea mammals. The researchers estimate that the dolphin grew to be only four feet long, smaller than its closest relatives, and significantly smaller than today’s bottlenose dolphins, which measure seven to twelve feet in length.
Look at this newly discovered cutie! This tiny little dolphin shows clear evidence of being capable of echolocation, while also possessing a toothless skull with “a series of deep channels and holes for arteries on the snout [indicating] the presence of extensive soft tissues, likely enlarged lips, and also perhaps even whiskers.”
This little guy could echolocate along the sea floor, then stick its sensitive rostrum into the sand and suck up little fish and critters. What a cool discovery!

I love it!
