I guess I should make an introduction.

I am a naturalist living up in the San Juan Islands, a small and still somewhat obscure corner of Washington State. While my naturalist work is taking a back seat this year, I still consider myself as one and am always looking for ways to use my skills to continue promoting environmental education. I especially like trees, birds, and whales.

I have been a political activist since the time of Obama’s presidency, and I have grown from a center-left moderate to a socialist leftist in the last fifteen years. I believe utopia is possible when reparations are made to marginalized peoples, when education is properly funded and supported, when food is not wasted and is made available to all without reservation or commodification (miss me with your gold-leaf truffle Wagyu burgers with black garlic, diamond-encrusted fries), when housing and healthcare is a right, and when we live as a part of nature and not lording over nature.

I was a part of the Dragon Age fandom on here when Inquisition came out, but left when the major content censoring came down in 2016(?) and rendered my page inaccessible to the rest of the website. I am back because I need to get off of Meta - and this is the best tool so far to keep me specifically off Instagram. My old fanfics prominently featured Alistair, Fenris, Cullen, and if I were to write Veilguard fanfic now, Davrin (what can I say? I love a soft warrior boyfriend). Tumblr was a huge part of unlearning a lot of my biases and of radicalizing my personal politics (radicalizing in the traditional sense of becoming a more left-leaning person), and I am excited to be back here, to learn and grow as I did then, and to maybe even get back into writing fanfic…

Hope this all goes well, and that the corporate overlord-wannabes leave this site alone…

And I am just as burnt out and depressed and miserable as when I was killing myself working at the Home Depot. All of that labor is tainted with the knowledge that if I hadn't done it I wouldn't have been able to eat. Or live indoors. Or support my partner. I just reread my Sea Wolf AU where my Cousland isn’t a Warden and instead takes up her mother’s ship, and FUCK I am rewriting that. Between that and knitting myself a sweater, I am set for winter projects now.

there is this really specific thing that very Online women of a certain age (mostly older millennials and younger gen x in my experience) who are married to a man will do where they will refer to their husbands as "Mr. (Part of My Username)"

so like if the username is something like "dancingwithbears" they'll refer to their husband as "Mr. Bears"

AMERICANS!!! DO NOT DO THIS TO FLOCK 'SECURITY' CAMERAS. REPOST AND SPREAD THE WORD

do not get IR blocking fabric or thick wool to cover your nose and mouth

do not get IR blocking sunglasses since facial recognition has moved up to targeting and identifying the upper face

do not avoid having your phone or any bluetooth devices around these cameras as they can detect and track those signals

do not buy cheap green lasers 1 milliwatt or above from etsy or walmart or amazon (i will not try and find a link if you ask)

do not use them to fry those fuckers from a distance damage the delicate inner sensors by pointing the beam in the lenses

AND unless you want to cost Flock more money in repairs, do not buy a small circle saw or a reciprocating saw and cut down the pole

OR do not climb said poles, spray paint on the solar panels, cover the lens with paint or a sticker, then use bolt cutters to sever the wires

when doing all these things, DO NOT avoid using latex gloves as fingerprints can leak through

DO NOT USE DEFLOCK TO FIND FLOCK SURVEILLANCE CAMERAS NEAR YOU

remember, flock is for YOUR safety :) even though crime rates have not gone down since they were implemented, they're being abused to track down exes and s/os, and many face pools or houses or schools or gymnasiums! Where there are no liscence plates to be found!

DO NOT DO THESE THINGS and enjoy a life under surveillance!

dr ryland grace immediately pitching "turn the spaceship into a giant centrifuge to generate gravity" and then not balancing his actual centrifuge later on

the entire "life is reason" scene really

grace forgetting to open the mystery alien container in a fume hood AND immediately sticking his nose in it. if we did this in chemistry lab we were executed on the spot

academia drama being one of the cornerstones of grace's character

Tess Shepard would not have a photo of Kaidan on her desk during ME2, btw. She is first and foremost still mad that he implied that she is a traitor, she is secondly a spacer kid and she is still learning how to have long-term relationships that allow for such sentimentalities, and she is thirdly too fucking embarrassed to be caught with a photo of her situationship on her desk by anyone, but especially anyone who knew her from the SR1.

She instead contents herself with brooding and sulking in her cabin while they travel to the Omega-4 relay, wishing she had answered his email to tell him that she is sorry really hoping she gets to see him again to properly hash it all out.
