there's an among us show???? in 2026???? at first i assumed it was another goncharov thing but no. it's real. this confuses me greatly.

Yeah! It was finished as early as 2024 but for some reason Paramount decided not to release it until this year. Stupid execs being stupid as usual.

The show is unironically really good. The first half of the show was so charming and delightful, and in the second half I actually got so invested in the murder mystery and the relationships between these silly little bean creatures. It helps that both Owen Dennis (Infinity Train creator) and Brian David Gilbert are somehow involved in writing it.

There are also so many visual gags that had me pausing the show to laugh out loud. Episodes are only 15 minutes long, maximum, so it's a fairly quick watch and I really recommend it.

Probably helps that I was really into the game during and after the pandemic. Despite the brainrot it's generated it really is a fun little game, and you can tell the team behind both the show and the game loves it a lot. I might actually get back into the game at some point - though I've heard the recommended experience is to find a discord server for playing it, since public lobbies are horrible.

malevolent part 49 thoughts… this was a REALLY fun episode. yeah somehow i’m not shocked about gerard getting murked :P arthur why would u leave him alone like that… yaaaaay there was a secret passageway and then a secret underground cavern :D love it when there are things like that… i’m easy to please. very well timed poetry recitation on john’s part. also i still don’t trust evrard. going with him seems like the best bet for now but i still think there’s something up with him…

John's poetry reading thing felt so fake I'm glad Arthur called him out immediately for it lol. Still a really heartwarming moment though, and it seemed to help Arthur get the motivation to power onwards. Also the creepy underground forest and giant creature were both fun.

You're almost at the end of s5!! Next few episodes have some moments I really like.

The Among Us show was actually fire. Well, that's to be expected since it was created by Owen Dennis, but they took a memed-out, basically dead game and made it into an interesting TV series that actually cares about its characters and has a lot of emotional scenes and social commentary. It could have been a "LOL so quirky" type of show but they made it dramatic and heartfelt without getting too pretentious.

The characters are all well-done; from Yellow and Brown's sweet bond, to Red and Purple's messy history, to Lime being the crazy guy who no one believed until it was too late, it's all so great.

I think we know why Paramount sat on this....because they're basically MIRA Corporation

so much fiction is made by fundamentally knowledgeless people. Fantasy whose authress knows nothing of history, biology, or anthropology, only other fantasy. Cyberpunk writress with no understanding of political theory, sociology, or technology.

We increasingly live in a world without primary sources, or even secondary sources as the average creative is increasingly uncultured, only tertiary; ideas laundered until any context is sanded away. The median artist a dog that's never eaten food, only other dogs' vomit, some only their own vomit as franchises stumble through decades of self-referential undeath.

So much vitriol against AI art is that it is the previous norm at its most efficient: a mechanical dog that can imagine other dogs' vomit and conjure her own without first heaving.

I've got to stop listening to digital horror video essays while working on Pale projects because (1) my roommate is away so I'm alone in my room (2) nearly everyone else in the building is gone for summer break, (3) I usually work on art around midnight, and (4) I keep getting too creeped out to sleep.

Anyway can't wait to keep reading Pale when these are done and see more of the wonders/horrors of technomancy when Zed or Mr Rad Ray Sunshine visits Kennet <3
