Goddamn right, you should be scared of me
Trans women arenât creeps, jokes, objects to be fucked and discarded or sad things to be pitied, nor are we monsters to destroy and kill.
Weâre vibrant, beautiful, interesting people and we have a lot to offer. If everyone else canât grasp that, weâll keep our talents for each other, thanks.
Twitter users slam Eddie Redmayne for trans rights comment
British actor and The Danish Girl star Eddie Redmayne just basically gave himself the worldâs loudest pat on the back for âintroducingâ the world to the struggles of the trans community â and Twitter, predictably, is having none of it. Many railed against the comments, while others took issue with a bigger Redmayne/Danish Girl problem.
(sarcasm) oh wow thank you for saving my life you the greatest ally now transphobia and transmisogyny donât exist no more and down with hate (/sarcasm)
down with fucking cis ugh
Geez maybe we should have been producing media and trying to get our voices out there for the last 40 years
OH WAIT
Ppl: "why'd you make that character trans?" Me: because it's my character and I can do whatever I want??? I don't need a reason?? Why'd JK Rowling give Harry black hair???
but they donât bat an eye at people assuming characters are cis all the time ÂŻ\_(ă)_/ÂŻ
98% of all âtransgenderâ violence was perpetrated specifically against people in the male-to-female spectrum[1]; of the 38 murders of transgender people reported internationally in 2003, 70% were women of color.[2]
Transgender Equality: A Handbook For Activists And Policymakers by Paisley Currah and Shannon Minter, published by the National LGBTQ Task Force.
Note that the share of violence visited on AFAB transgender people is so small that there isnât even room in the graphâs scale to divide that by race, but if the statistics for AMAB transgender people are any indication, the lionâs share is directed at transgender people of color there as well.
This is why it is disingenuous and damaging for AFAB transgender people, especially AFAB white transgender men, to act like their experiences are anything like trans womensâ experiences, especially the experiences of trans women of color.

Every time I post something about Norman Reedus and it gets reblogged you fangirls just gotta swoon and add your own cutesy caption. Nothing against fangirls but hereâs a challenge. Swoon over this! Good luck.
Thatâs fucking hot as hell.Â
LOL. Thatâs not the one to pick for no swooning.
YOU DONâT KNOW US AND OUR LIVES. WE HAVE FANGIRLED OVER ROADKILL FOR HIM.
SOMEONE JUST NEEDS TO HITCH THAT SKIRT UP AND BITE HIS INNER THIGHS AND THEN SUCK HIM UNTIL HEâS SOBBING, UNTIL HIS PRETTY EYESHADOW RUNS DOWN HIS FACE.
OP, it is clear that you have a fundamental misunderstanding of one or more of the following:
âfangirlsâ
âswooningâ
âchallengeâ
I mean we could probably use this as a really interesting launching point for the fundamental disconnect between âwhat people actually find hotâ and âwhat society/patriarchy presumes is hotâ and how the assignations of gender roles and sexuality fuck with that. Like the presumption that the female gaze doesnât even exist, or if it does that women-intersted-in-men find the same things about men sexy that men-interested-in-women presume they do/should.
I mean, how many âporn for straight womenâ magazines have tried to launch and asked a bunch of straight women what they wanted in porn -and gotten answers of âsmiling dudesâ âdudes giving bedroom eyesâ and âcockâ - only to then said âyeah no, weâre giving you tough,aloof-looking shirtless guys with power muscles and weapons instead (because regardless of what any of you say you want we know that the majority of you want tough looking guys with power muscles and weapons because thatâs what masculinity is because sexiness is feminine-coded. I mean obviously the only reason a man would display in a sexually-inviting way (as opposed to an aggressive way or a disinterested way) is if heâs trying to attract a man! Ergo anything in which a man is display in a sexually inviting or (gasp) submissive way is gay gay gay gay gay and thus the anti-masculine and no woman would ever want it. We know better than you what you like and want and find sexy) and then failed and blamed the failure on the totally legit and well known phenomenon that women just donât get off on visual stimuli theyâd rather read erotica.
But Iâm too busy getting off on images like the above.
Yeah, Iâm way into that.
I canât for a second imagine why thatâs NOT sexy.
Awesome commentary isâŠ
this is so beautiful â€ïžâ€ïžâ€ïž
I am trans and I am transphobic. I catch myself thinking that male is the âopposite genderâ to female. I sometimes assume youâre a girl if you use she/her pronouns. I forget that clothes arenât gendered and dresses arenât feminine. these are problems Iâm aware of and Iâm actively trying to change my mindset.
if you are cis you are transphobic. if you are trans you are transphobic.
everyone is unconsciously transphobic because thatâs how our cisnormative society has brainwashed us to think since we were born. donât pretend youâre not transphobic, but instead acknowledge the issue and put in effort to change and learn.

Nerdy Fact #1434: Wonder Woman was originally based on two women: the wife of creator William Marston and one of his former students that both he and his wife had sexual encounters with.Â
(Source.)
How about you actually name âem?
Elizabeth Holloway Marston and Olive Byrne were among a number of women who contributed to the original Wonder Woman, and theyâre fascinating people in their own right.
Elizabeth Holloway Marston was a brilliant woman. She earned three university degrees in psychology and law at a time when few women received any tertiary education. She was a successful career woman who assisted her husband with his work and was frequently the breadwinner of the family.
The main reason she was able to continue working after having children? Olive Byrne, who was not simply a casual âsexual encounterâ, but the Marstonsâ lover and life partner. To enable Elizabeth to work, Olive stayed at home and raised both her and Elizabethâs children. She also wrote for Family Circle and contributed to Marstonâs research.
Elizabeth is credited with pushing her husband to create a female superhero, and after his death she worked hard to preserve his vision for the character, urging DC to employ her as the comicâs editor (she was ignored).
Wonder Womanâs braceletâs are Oliveâs bracelets: Olive was known for wearing a pair of wide silver bracelets, and Marston had these in mind when he envisioned Dianaâs bullet-deflecting accessories.
Marston died in 1947, but Elizabeth and Olive continued to live together until the end of their lives.
Wait. Clarification please. Are you telling me that the creator of Wonder WOMAN WAS IN A POLY-AMOROUS RELATIONSHIP?
Yep! They were in a poly relationship and had four children together, two by Elizabeth and two by Olive.
(And for those whoâve asked about sources, the Marstonsâ story is covered in detail in The Secret History of Wonder Woman by Jill Lepore and Wonder Woman: The Complete History by Les Daniels)
Wonder Woman was inspired and shaped by not only a man who was incredibly progressive and awesome by todays standards let alone the standards of the day he lived in but also by a fierce, intelligent and awesome bisexual woman
This is one of the many reasons why the ways DC has ruined Wonder Woman in their pursuit of making the book as backwards and heteronormative as possible pisses me offâŠ
Not a fierce and intelligent and awesome bisexual woman.
Two fierce and intelligent and awesome bisexual women.Â
You are correct :D
Imagine growing up in that house
âMom wants to see you.â
âPsychology mom or bracelet mom?â
âBracelet mom.â
Iâd be so fricking happy growing up in a home like thatâŠtwo hella awesome moms to go to for advice and comfort and wisdom and a dad who is a cool and lovely dadâŠ
True
I would have had someone to talk to about stuff when I was small and needed it really badly it would have been amazing <3
Dude, I am way more interested in âPolyamorous breadwinner psychologist and the girlfriend who helped raise her kidsâ than âthe artistâs wife and the female student he coerced into a three-wayâ.
Is that the version of their life story you heard?
yeah no that is NOT what happened at allâŠthey were a loving polyamorous relationship who raised a family together and there was no âcoercionâ involved
Defying age with a sword: Meenakshi Gurrukkal, Keralaâs grand old Kalaripayattu dameÂ
âMeenakshi Gurukkal crouched low, sword poised; her eyes unblinking as she faced her opponent in the mud-paved âkalariâ or arena. From the tree tops, a mynahâs call resonated in the silence. In a flash she moved to attack, twirling her sword; metal clashing loudly as it made contact with a shield.
At 74, she is possibly the oldest woman exponent of Kalaripayattu, the ancient martial arts from Kerala. She has been practising Kalaripayattu for no less than sixty-eight years - training and teaching.
Around 150 students learn Kalaripayattu in her school Kadathanadan Kalari Sangam, in a tiny hamlet in Vadakara, near Calicut, Kerala. From June to September every year, classes are held thrice a day teaching the Northern style of Kalaripayattu, including âuzhichilâ or massages for aches and pains. Techniques have been passed down through generations, written in a palm âbookletâ, grey and delicate with age. When school term is over, Meenakshi takes part in performances. âNowadays, apart from teaching, I practise only when I have a show,â she says nonchalantly. This, from someone who on an average performs in 60 shows a yearâŠâ
