Carrie points playfully to the cake on the counter, under a thin glass dome. It looked fluffy and pink, with little candy strawberries on the rim. "I made it this morning, hoping to share it with people who visit the bookshop."

She liked the busy days. Having something to do with her hands, a way to keep herself busy, was.. helpful. It was a balm to an anxious mind to keep herself far from idle.
