Confessions on the brink of death a character accepts out of kindness because it won’t matter soon anyway, but then the other person doesn’t die, the other person expects them to carry through on their promise to love them and gets angry when they try to back out. Blackmail held over someone’s head just to force them to flirt and make romantic advances on another person, so it looks like they wanted this relationship. Talks about marriage and happily ever afters together as a threat. “I love you, I love you, I love you” as a violation that you’re expected to smile at and be grateful for, because you’re supposed to want to be loved. noncon romance.

adding to this: feeling love against your will. love forced on you by some power beyond you. love that you know you wouldn’t feel if you weren’t blessed (cursed) by it. love that you don’t want and is ruining you and that everyone keeps praising you for feeling. love that everyone around you gets mad at you for rejecting anyway. love that’s made so overpowering that it wipes out any semblance of “you” that there is to make way for a thing that will love someone back.

Whumpers who casually manhandle the whumpees, as if doing so is completely natural. They don't even think twice about it. Whumpee is trying to crawl away? Oh, just grab them by the ankle and pull them back. Whumpee's head is pointed in a suspicious direction, as if looking for an escape? Pull them by the hair so their eyes are forced away. Just wanted to bring to your attention that the term whump was actually coined by the Stargate fandom specifically to describe making this guy suffer. He is the original Mr. Whump (no that's not his actual name). That's how torturable this guy is.

Everyone say mean things about him.

because captivity isn’t just being held in a place it’s so much more. it’s a microcosm of death. you are forcibly removed from the people who love you and the life that you live (by dying or by being trapped somewhere you do not want to be). you become an object (because you’re a corpse or because you’re no longer treated as human). losing all control and having your life being dictated by someone or something else. you don’t even have to be physically unable to leave a place. a marriage can be a form of captivity. blackmail is a form of captivity. it is isolation and claustrophobia and stagnation. repeating the same day over and over and over again, unable to create new experiences, like a timeloop, cycles upon cycles.

and the scars. the way that once you get out the only thing you can think is “I’m never going back, ever again.” and it lingers. you can be the safest person in the world and you’ll always be scared of going back. you’ll do anything to never go back. the worst suffering you choose will always be better than being trapped.

• the “oh shit, i’m gonna faint/nevermind i’m good” face (and aborted grab for nearest solid object or person)

• a character losing their footing for a moment on rough terrain. someone reaching out to grab them so they don’t fall and they both hold on for a hot second

• closing their eyes and leaning into a gentle touch

• shaky hands, shaky voice

• falling asleep at their desk at work/tucked away in an odd place

• doing things that are out of character & having others start to notice: losing their cool, being extra chipper or extra quiet, jumpy

• zoning out

• someone getting between them and whoever they’re having a heated exchange with, gently pushing them back with a hand against their chest or shoulder

• slipping out of sight from the others to lean against a wall, tip their head back and close their eyes

sometimes I think about.

wrapping duct tape all around a captive’s face to cover their mouth like. Maybe even gagging them first with a bit or a cloth and then wrapping that shit over it like a muzzle… like… tape face 🙂 It’s so restrictive. It’s so humiliating. It would hurt so much to peel off.

just, use half a roll of duct tape on his face 💘

Maybe it even covers the nose, and the captive has to beg wordlessly with their eyes for air, for whumper to hold them still with a grip in their hair and stick the knife up into their nostrils a bit. Carefully, just enough to pierce the tape a little. The captive is shaking but knows they’ll get sliced if they move. Finally, the knife punctures a tiny hole and the captive sucks in air like a man dying of thirst given a sip of blessed water. Only if he had to drink it through a tiny straw.

The victim shakes, but holds still in their captor’s grasp as the knife punctures the second hole and they breathe in blessed air. Their breathing capacity is still at about 20%, virtually two tiny straws to the dehydrated soul, but they inhale desperately through their nose, quivering in simultaneous panic and relief.

Just…the choking, the clawing hands, the suffocated begging. and whumper leaning in too close for comfort. the terror, the sudden shot of panic in whumpee’s veins and the floor-dropping sensation of being trapped. when they feel more like an insect pinned to the wall than a human with whumper’s eyes studying them as if they were under a microscope. just…caught. not even like an animal in snare, just caught off guard and disoriented and wide eyed.
