Outside of writing, I'm a translator and language teacher. I'm also a student of Chinese and a lover of indoor plants, especially my carnivorous ones.

hey so. don’t do this.

“coming from a place of respect” there is nothing respectful about a comment like this. this is exactly why I say witch hunt, speculations and accusations harm the writing community as much as ai does, if not more.

I am not saying “you’re an asshole if you think a fic is ai”. I have come across fics that I believe were ai-generated. but instead of asking (accusing) the authors, I make my own decisions whether I’ll continue reading for the benefit of the doubt or quietly exit the fics and look for something else to read.

because with every accusation like this, there’s always a chance of a genuine, innocent writer getting wrongly accused.

last but not least, fanfic writers do NOT owe you anything. they write for themselves and their own enjoyment. their ao3 accounts are their houses and they were kind enough to let you in their houses. for free. (you get to read things for free.) you don’t go into other people’s houses and tell them “actually I think the way you decorate your room is sus. did you actually do it yourself or did you ask a robot to do it for you?”. THEY 👏🏻 DON’T 👏🏻 OWE 👏🏻 YOU 👏🏻 ANYTHING. and I say this as someone who is not a fan of ai fics. if you don’t like what you’re seeing, quietly leave.

*the following is not about the fic in this specific post. in general, I still strongly believe people who let ai write for them should tag their works as ai accordingly. but if we want more people to be honest about it, we’ll have to stop shaming and harassing people who actually tag their ai-generated fics accordingly. harassment is never justified. not to mention, it will only make “ai writers” refrain from tagging their ai-generated works as such. and then there’s no way for anyone to know for absolute certainty if it’s ai. therefore the raise of witch hunt.

In an Omegaverse world, Tighnari is still the usual epitome of logic and composure he has always being no matter the setting. However, in this wold, his fennec hybrid nature ties him deeply to his most primal, biological side. As a fennechybrid, he is inherently territorial of his partner; as an Alpha, those instincts are amplified to a...bigger degree.

​And that is exactly where the trouble begins. Because you aren't an Alpha or an Omega. You are a Beta.

​And as someone who prides himself on his restraint, managing his instincts around you is an exhausting daily battle. He wants to cover your body with his scent, have your senses recognizing his smell, hold you until you're completely enveloped by him, and constantly lend you his clothes. He does whatever it takes to keep his rosemusk scent on your skin, even though, as a Beta, your body naturally sheds it far too quickly. Yet, against all biological odds, he manages. He is calm and comfortable with that.

​The real crisis arrives when his biology urges him to bond. His inner Alpha keeps asking him to sink his teeth into your neck, to claim you so the whole world knows you two are bonded. However, reality tells him a Beta cannot be marked the way an omega could. A mating bite on you will never form a biological bond; it will only heal into a regular scar.

​So, Tighnari improvises:

He leaves small, deliberate bites along your jawline and the base of your neck whenever he can. They are never deep enough to truly hurt, but noticeable enough for anyone else to see them. For a long time, he firmly believes that this temporary marking is enough.

​Until it isn't.

​The illusion shatters the moment another Alpha, who is unable to smell a permanent bond on you, steps into your space and attempts to court you, because, to the rest of the world, you still smell unclaimed. It is in that single, agonizing second, where Tighnari watches someone else try to touch what his instincts consider his to love, that the logical Forest Watcher he has always been completely vanishes.

​And Tighnari...he believes he has never felt closer to madness than then.

Tighnari has always considered himself a pragmatic man. He prides himself on staying calm under pressure and on always trusting his own intellect and the support of those around him to handle whatever challenges come his, or their, way.

​Except that, when it comes to you, all of that changes form.

​With you, his carefully guarded composure dissolves before his mind can even process it and he finds himself giving in to little instinctive habits he never shares –or feels, really– with anyone else: his tail unconsciously curls around your legs whenever you are close, his ears perk up and tilt in your direction the second you enter a room or speak about something you love, and his nose always seeks the crown of your head during a hug, regulating himself with your scent.

​So, it is really no surprise that when a sudden ambush by Treasure Hoarders nearly leaves you hurt, he snaps. The threat is neutralized swiftly, with something fierce and protective tightening his chest that he has never felt before.

The moment the danger passes, he pulls you against his chest, immediately burying his face in your hair to breathe you in, desperately seeking the silent reassurance that you are here with him, whole and safe.

​As he holds you, his hands tremble slightly against your back, and the fur along his tail remains faintly bristled from the adrenaline. He has long since accepted that he loves you, but it's moments like this that remind him how much his instincts amplify every emotion he might feel. His heart refuses to slow its frantic pace, his senses completely locked onto you as he searches your scent, needing to be absolutely certain you haven't been harmed.

Okay, very useless yap incoming but this is the coolest and most terrifying thing I have seen in my entire life

The first thing I want to point out is how everyone including aether looks so terrifying, the traveler looks so beat up but paimon... Paimon looks so... Normal? She doesn't have the same lighting even, she's bright... As if that's not ominous at all

Mondstadt: somehow the one I found the least terrifying mainly cuz it only keeps getting worse, but the whole "he sowes discord around tevyat" is sooo fjbdhakwk like especially in consideration to how fontaine and natlan work, how many people were punished by "justice" because of him? How many "wars" do you think he started?

Liyue: the one I have the least to say about since I think "the cruelest archon of them all" says everything (also the idea of adepti being debt collectors is kinda funny in my head)

Inazuma: I don't think I've ever seen anything more terrifying than that desing, not even in my nightmares 🥲🥲 what is that, why is that, why is it stiched together 😭😭🙏 I love how much it scared me. Also, the whole pulls the corpses/half-dead? Bodies through the cities by tugging on the threads of their veins to stimulate a populance? Fhjdjdkwmd terrifying, how did you come up with that op 😭😭

Sumeru: first things first, rukkhadevata's hair?? Or is that straight up her head speared on the tree?? The symbolism of her design is sooo hfhdhkwl like she still has alta on her hands (her hands being red) which symbolises devinity and purity but the eyes... The eyes would tell you otherwise. She has Shiva's eye of destruction, a crown of skulls surounded by rotten leaves... I don't know how much of the religious symbolism in the design was intentional but it's so gooddd. Also the offering people forbidden knowledge in exchange of her release? Hchhdqo

Fontaine: neuvi's eye... It's so pretty also how do have you managed to make an oceanid look that scary 😭😭 furina's design caught me off guard, I thought she was straight up a meca doll at first but after reading I realised that no, it is not that simple. Of course not that would be too tame, it's meca joints and parts fused with her flesh, thus the blood dripping from the joints and stuff 😃😃 also the whole "fontaine lives for the spectical of the court" times 2799 horror edition 😃😄😃 focalor being the first archon corrupted?? Furina being forced to watch the "trials"? the way the mentions of liberalism, fraternity etc gave me french revolution flashbacks since that was kinda what introduced those ideas to Europe and the rest of the world in the first place

Natlan: the people being so consumed by war and bloodshed that not only do they not know what the war was for, when or why it began or who it's against, they don't even know the name of their land (or atleast that's what I thought the blacked out name meant) probably one of the, of not the most horrifying situation of the lands people, maybe second to Inazuma. Also the whole idea of "mavuika's fingers" made my skin crawl

And I don't wanna say anything abt nod krai... I don't want any of the negative energy those designs are very much giving 🥲🥲

Many of the stories Nicole envisions begin with a phrase as old as stories themselves: "Long, long ago..."

Perhaps, for some authors, "long ago" is less the threshold of a tale than a refuge from all further questioning. For once a story is consigned to unreachable distance, all the people and events bound up within it may as well have faded into obscurity, leaving no path by which the present might truly follow them back.

And yet, in Nicole's thoughts, those stories of "long ago" endure still.

Long ago, the lights of many nations filigreed the earth in gleaming gold. Long ago, the daughters of heaven wandered in carefree grace betwixt divine courts and mortal cities. Long ago, the sovereign of ages past, who had descended into deepest darkness, had not yet brought disaster back to his homeland. Long ago, the three radiant moons that hung aloft in the night heavens were still three...

The years brook no pause, the wheel spinning onward all the same. Within a cycle emptied of hope, the spark of paradise perished alongside the lives annihilated. Servitors once loyal to their ruler turned traitor for the sake of the lives that had been fashioned. The black dragonlord returned from beyond the stars. The moonlit chariot of the heavens shattered like crystal...

The story had not reached its end. Rather, it was those who had once read it, and those who had once listened to its telling, who had long since taken their leave. The angel who once longed to write laughter into the world lost all that had once made laughter possible. In the end, she even lost the voice with which she laughed, and could speak no more.

Thus, it seemed that the story Nicole kept within her would never properly find its beginning. She could only go on cradling her many "long agos," roaming the world and watching as all things passed, changed, and were remade by time.

That remained so until the day she met a tiny mage in an enormous hat, its extravagant brim tipped up with such pride it seemed almost ready to brush the sky. Compared with the hat she wears now, however, it was still a fair few sizes smaller.

The little witch tucked herself down at Nicole's side and listened intently as one story after another unfolded, not stirring until she had finished her drink and emptied her bag of biscuits.

"So you really are an angel? And all those stories were real, too?"

"Then yay, that works! I'm a mage, and you're an angel, so we match perfectly."

The merry little mage stretched out a hand to the angel who had come so far, all the way from those distant "long agos," and warmly invited her along.

"Want to join my Hexenzirkel? I only just came up with the name, but it has a real ring to it, don't you think?"

"It's going to be the funnest, awesomest, best club in all of Teyvat — I promise!"

"..."

No answer came from the angel. None could. But the little mage did not wait for one. She caught the angel's hand in both of her own and slipped the last piece of candy into her palm.

"There. Now our mages' pact is made."

Nicole had no thought of joining then, nor could she have guessed what this little gathering called the "Hexenzirkel" would one day grow into.

But at the very least...

It did sound like a place with happiness enough to spare.
