As of today, United Way Worldwide accepts *bitcoin* through a new partnership with Coinbase. In terms of donations received, the United Way Worldwide is the largest privately held nonprofit organization, raising over $5 billion per year. "The bitcoin system allows the United Way a new âmicro-donationâ channel, > allowing the organization to accept donations of $1. Using the current > system, micro-donations are often discouraged because the price of > processing the payments is often larger than the donation amount." - JB

Software patents are crumbling, thanks to the Supreme Court
Vox posted a very interesting article on the âcrumbling of software patentsâ
"The Supreme Courtâs June ruling on the patentability of software its first in 33 years â raised as many questions as it answered. One specific software patent went down in flames in the case of Alice v. CLS Bank, but the abstract reasoning of the decision didnât provide much clarity on which other patents might be in danger."

How to Post
Tumblr allows you to send posts by email. Â This is a quick and efficient way to get an idea out without any hassle, signing in, formatting, etc. Â It takes a couple of minutes to set up, after that itâs as easy as emailing your mom.
First, write an email to [email protected] (or click here)
Add a title in the subject. In the body, add text, links, images, etc.
Add some #tags to the bottom of your email (#instructions, #first post. #post to tumblr)
Sign your name (First and Last please!)
Press send.
Your content will now be published on the blog!
Please note that formatting is limited. Â The goal is to be able to quickly share a post with the group between your professorâs sentences (pay attention in class kids).
Most importantly all links must be full URLâs - no hyperlinks!
(For example, https://www.google.com not google)
(images are also finicky.. keep it simple!)
Finally, add that long email to your address book
In gmail, hover over the original long email address. Click on "Contact Info" on the bottom left corner.
Change the name of the contact to something like *Post to BLS Advocate*
Now you are all set!
(In Outlook, click on Contacts, Add Contact)
See your post
Go to blsadvocate.tumblr.com
How did it go?  Were you able to post? Email us at [email protected] and weâll be happy to troubleshoot!
