This was like his only real respite.  This was also why he never really played around people, they tend to make him second guess himself and that just started a whole shame sprial. He hadn’t meant the offer, no one who was decent would ask him to shut up, surely. But sure enough, this girl did.

He’d have understood if she freaked out, most people did when they saw him use the scarab. But he was trying to help her at the moment. As the scarab came to rest on his spine again, phasing into what looked like a tattoo peeking out from his shirt. “More like a partner, calling it a pet is a bit, let’s go with degrading. It’s a long long story, but I kinda figured in a place full of super people, this wouldn’t be too odd.”

“No, it’s not a fuckin gim-” he paused, rubbing the bridge of his nose. [Preparing combative measures.] He sighed, communicating there was no need.  “Though, you do realize, while looking like a feverish, twisted artist’s depiction of an angry monkey, you have the audacity to give me shit, right?” he said with a shot chuckle. “Well, we all can’t dress like Beelzebub.”

Jaime: Particle cannon?

Khaji Da: It rips apart the target on a molecular level and proceeds to fry the remains using the energy from the broken molecular bonds.

Jaime:... Bit excessive, isn't it?

Khaji Da: He kicked you in the face.

Jaime couldn’t help but let out a soft hum as he felt her hand on his back. Since being bonded to the scarab,  Jaime’s back was rather sensitive. He did feel better, and he was sure Babs didn’t know about his back. Even the light pat on the back, felt like a big jolt to his system
