I hope it's ok if I ask u this I saw this topic going around in Twitter and so I'm asking other what they think of this but do u see oscar as a person of color iv seen a few fans talk about this ,iv been wondering what oscar race maybe caz rave are never talk about in show u can only tell some race maybe how they dress or last name
Hello anon-chan. Hmmm, well speaking for myself mostly here, if anything this squiggle meister has always pegged Oscar as a boy of colour since compared to other light-skinned characters like Jaune, Nora and even Ruby, the little prince certainly isn't light-skinned.Â
Oscar Pine is more of a peanut butter cup or more fittingly, a chocolate chip cookie than a milky marshmallow XD
 On the RWBY Wiki page, Oscarâs skin is classed as being âtannedâ. So like I said, heâs not âwhiteâ or rather light-skinned. However Oscar's complexion is relatively much lighter compared to other characters sharing that tanned skin tone such as Hazel Rainart and Arthur Watts.Â
With that in mind, if I had to get more specific, I'd say Oscar is probably more biracial or mixed as I'd say in my country. It wouldn't surprise me if one of Oscar's parents is the common tanned complexion as weâve seen from other RWBY character while the other parent is light-skinned. For me, I like the concept of Oscar being of mixed race but thatâs just me. Â
But if weâre talking âraceâ in respect to the lore and word-building of RWBY, there are only two known races in Remnant---Humans and Faunus. Three if you count the Silver Eyed Warriors who seemed to be a unique race of their own but since Silver Eyes can be either human or Faunus as we saw recently from the events of V8, it that just takes it back to the main two.
By Remnant terms, Oscarâs race is human since heâs neither a Faunus nor does he seem to share any kind of Faunus heritage as far as the audience is aware of. I always liked the idea of classifying the characters based on the kingdoms they grew up in.
For example, Iâd classed Oscar as a Mistrali human boy from the Anima countryside since while weâre not exactly clear on which part of Anima Oscar grew up in, what we do know from the events of V4 is that Oscar lives not too far from the City of Mistral so technically I would classify his neck of the woods as being under Mistralâs jurisdiction, if that makes sense.
So thatâs how I see it anon-chan. Bottom-line, in Remnant terms, Oscar is a Mistrali human boy but if weâre talking mostly skin tone, itâs safe to say that Oscar is definitely POC. Heâs not as dark-skinned as Emerald or as tanned as Hazel but he definitely is darker in complexion compared to Ruby whoâs got skin like whole milk.Â
So the little prince is a beautiful baby boy of colour. At least in this squiggly Pineheadâs opinion.
