Warning: Read at your own risk because idk what to warn about o.0 other than blood.
You were perched in the branches of a tall tree, legs dangling over the edge, enjoying your lunch, when fresh blood hit your nose.
You could tell it was coming from behind the school.
Curious, in one smooth motion, you dropped from the tree, landing silently, and followed the scent.
As you got closer, a chorus of giggles drifted from the back of the school.
"Are you sure you're not just a sheep hybrid in disguise?" one voice sneered, followed by mocking laughter.
"How long are you planning on staying there crying, huh?" another voice chimed in.
A group of ram hybrids stood in a loose, lazy circle, blocking your view of who they were picking on. You leaned against the brick wall nearby, arms crossed, voice cool.
"Whatโve you got there?"
They froze. At the sound of your voice, they turned and hesitantly backed away, revealing their victim like a curtain being pulled back.
At the center, a small, trembling hornless ram hybrid curled in the dirt, knees tucked to his chest. His wool was caked with mud and streaked with blood. A cut just above his brow trickled crimson, staining his pale face.
You didnโt move at first. Just stared.
Then, without a word as he stared at you like youโd come for him you started walking toward them.
You were laughing, watching him climbing the tree you always had lunch on.
"Almost there," you had called out with a smirk as he gripped the trunk with shaky arms and wobbled like jelly onto the thickest branch.
"You look like a baby goat trying to walk for the first time."
He stuck his tongue out at you. "Shut up!"
And then, just as he got close enough to reach you, you grinned, stood, and leaped off the branch, landing perfectly on the ground.
You looked up at him with a smug smile. "You gonna stay up there all day? It's pretty high. You might fall."
He pouted. "You're mean."
"C'mon," you teased. "If you climbed up, you can get down. Just jump."
You leapt again, this time to catch him. You broke his fall, both of you hitting the ground with a loud thud.
He landed on top of you, breathless, eyes wide.
"I was kidding, dummy," you groaned, shoving him off. "You couldโve broken your neck."
His fingers curled into your shirt, and he looked at you likeโฆ
He sat between your legs, resting against your chest as if it was the safest place in the world.
"Do you love me?" he asked, voice small, pressed into the side of your neck.
You smirked, resting your chin on his head. "Maybe."
"Maybe?" He looked up at you with those eyesโฆ "But I love you... so, so much."
"Yeah?" you said, amused. "You sound like youโd die if I said no," you said as you leaned down and kissed him softly.
You were in a mall now. Or a cafรฉ. Or a sidewalk. The setting changed every time you blinked.
But the feeling stayed the same. Eyes on you. Whispers.
You remember not liking going out with him because you were a predator. A panther with a delicate, hornless ram clinging to your arm. Naturally, passerby stared and whispered about forcing him to date you.
But really, it was him clinging to you and insisting on holding hands, dragging you along like an excited child.
"Letโs go on a date," heโd say, bouncing with joy. "Like couples do!"
You couldโnt denied him anything and always gave in.
How could you say no to those of his eyes? He looked at you like you hung the moon and lit up the stars.
You blinked, and the world shifted.
Blood everywhere. On the walls, floor, and air.
Just that one second, everything was fine. You were just kissing him, and the next, you saw red.
It smelled sweet. Too sweet.
And then you saw him, with one hand pressed desperately to his face. As blood spilled through his fingers.
"It hurts," he whispered, blinking up at you through pain-blurred eyes.
And then you saw it...his eye.
Your claws, covered in blood. His face.
"I didnโt mean- I-Iโm sorry," you choked.
"It's okay" he said as his hand reached toward you...shaking, bloody, still wanting you and wanting to be in your arms.
"Donโt leave me!", you heard a gut-wrenching scream.
But you never looked back.
You jolted awake, gasping, soaked in sweat. Your chest heaved as you looked around your room. It was just the same nightmare youโd been having for years.
It felt like a loop. A punishment you couldnโt escape.
No matter how hard you tried to forget him, he haunted you every night.
His eyes. His voice. His smile. His tears. His blood.
The last time you saw him, he was on the ground, crying your name, begging you not to leave him.
