The movie is literally about a gay shy boy being pushed to violence and then to put on a "gangster" persona because of the homophobic nature of his upbinging ??? And yeah, obviously the reason he acts this way is due to the expectations put on black boyhood/manhood but my god, the queerness is intrisic into how Chiron is treated in his youth like the movie is about being GAY + BLACK

My favorite thing about reading The ClassicsTM is that, they are propped up as being these super hard books to get through and unaccesible but a lot of them are funny as hell dude, like why was I laughing my ass off at Cien Años de Soledad, The Name of The Rose, a lot of theocracy but also Ado/Williams Benoit Blanc shenanigans, like, we need to remembers that these where people's movies so they had to be entertaining, also, Emma messy bitch, Mr Knightley #1 FRank Churchill Hater, I love seeing how humans have always been messy and funny and serious and sad
