Dismissed by Joffrey throughout the year until suddenly he decided to play the gentleman.
Had to deal with her father being arrested and her sister up and disappearing.
Forced to beg for her father’s life and was promised he was allowed to live by her future husband only for her so called love of her life to order his execution right in front of her.
Dealing with daily tortures and beatings from Joffrey.
Forced to watch her father’s head and everybody else from Winterfell who came with them rot in spikes.
Told Joffrey Robb would fucking destroy him.
Considered going over the edge with Joffrey a great sane idea.
So frightened out of her mind by Joffrey that one wrong word would be the beating of her but still managed to trick his arse to save Ser Dontos.
Continued to put up with daily beatings everytime Robb won a victory.
Managed to make a friend in Shae.
Dealt with Cersei’s constant digs just as much as Joffrey’s beatings.
Nearly raped by a mob of folk and left to her fate by Joffrey, only just being saved by the hound.
So terrified of Joffrey finding out she was “fit” to have his children that she tried to burn evidence of her having her period.
Continued to put on a brave face and saying she is loyal to her beloved Joffrey despite everything.
Had to deal with Cersei’s drunken ass and the idea of being raped, not saved as Stannis’ army approached.
Also dealt with the hound in her own room and bravely made the smart decision in staying behind.
Faced the idea of being Joffrey’s chew boy with even less value after he shoved her aside for Margaery.
Made some powerful allies with Olenna, Margaery and Loras and entertained the idea of actually marrying Loras so she could finally be free in Highgarden and away from the hell that is Kings Landing.
So worried about Margaery’s safety that she told the truth about Joffrey.
Actually gave her potential marriage with Loras a HUGE shot.
So much so that she refuses Littlefinger’s idea to escape.
But the troubling news of Tyrion marrying her instead hits her like a ton of bricks.
And Littlefinger’s opportunity to escape is no longer open.
Faces the possibility of losing her virginity to a man not suitable for her.
Pretty much marries Tyrion and is humiliated throughout the day by what is happening but continues to soldier on.
Tells a cold truth to Tyrion that she may never want him in her bed even though he could rape her if he wanted to.
But despite that does try to make things pleasant with him. Best out of a bad bunch and all that.
News of Catelyn and Robb’s death hits her. She has no true chance of escaping Kings Landing that she knows of now.
Mourned the deaths of her entire family and sunk in so much depression.
No longer even finding comfort in prayers.
Continued to deal with the likes of Joffrey mocking Robb’s death.
Fished out of Kings Landing in a way that makes her look completely guilty in killing Joffrey.
Shae also betrays her and drags her name through the mud.
And Ser Dontos wasn’t even in it to save her because she saved him; only for the money.
Taken to the Vale where her crazy aunt Lysa is completely and utterly jealous of her relationship with Littlefinger.
Deals with Robin who is completely disrespectful and fucks up her escape from reality via the snow castle of Winterfell.
Is constantly abused by Lysa.
And Littlefinger continues to make creepy advances towards her.
Which eventually causes Lysa to snap and try to kill her, only to be killed by Petyr.
Sansa then has to cover up the murder so she can have some agency through Petyr as the father figure of the Lord of the vale and not face the Unknown.
Refuses Brienne’s help because (logically) she saw her bow to Joffrey despite supposably being Catelyn’s knight.
Agrees to go along with marrying the son of a man who killed her brother in order to get her family home back as well as the fact she doesn’t even have a choice in the matter. This IS Littlefinger we are talking about here, the matter was already decided and she knew that.
Has to deal with her childhood home being so corrupted.
Has to deal with a shady ass jealous lover of Ramsay’s following her arse.
Comes face to face with Theon, the man who supposably killed Bran and Rickon.
Deals with Ramsay’s parade of showing Theon about and has to dine with the man who killed her brother and betrayed her mother.
Eventually marries Ramsay at sacred ground and is raped by him in her bedroom.
Locked in that chamber for supposably months if Fat Walda’s pregnancy is to go by being constantly abused and raped by Ramsay.
Chance at breaking out is betrayed by Theon, and as a result the woman who tried to help her also dies.
Breaks out only to see Stannis once again fail to save her.
Is so done with her life that she is ready to accept death at the hands of Myranda.
With no other option, Sansa grabs Theon’s hand and jumps off a FUCKING TOWER with no certainly if they are going to make it as the alternative is just too horrific to imagine.
Survives her fall and is forced to run into the absolute freezing cold.
And even BRAVES her way through a lake.
And is nearly dragged back to Winterfell only to be saved by Brienne.
But isn’t ready to give up Winterfell just yet as she knows there is nowhere for her or Jon to go without forever having to flee. And they need to set up a sanctuary for Bran, Rickon and Arya to go to if they are still alive. She is already gearing up to face the monster who made her life hell.
And that couldn’t be more clearer after he sends Jon the letter demanding he give her over or she will be raped and killed alongside their little brother Rickon.
So vulnerable after everything that she cannot trust Jon enough after placing her trust in so many people to be let down time after time after time.
And she doesn’t even have the respect from the Northmen for actions she wasn’t in control of (marrying Tyrion and Ramsay); she’s more free than she has been for a long time but she still doesn’t have agency.
Accepts the likely possibility Rickon is going to die and prepares to kill herself if Ramsay wins and Jon dies.
So hardened and scarred by everything, that she watches Ramsay die with utter delight at the hands of his own hounds.
And even though she got Winterfell back alongside Jon; she isn’t recognised in her struggles and journey to get the home back by the North.
Now tell me this ain’t the most strongest character out there? She keeps on going on after taking hit after hit. I’m not so happy with some of the story deviations they made from the book, but Sansa Stark without a doubt remains the strongest and most fearless character out there after everything she’s been through.
Give the girl a medal. Shit, give her the heads of all her enemies so she can live the rest of her life in peace.
