sometimes you remember that dazai knew ango was a traitor from the moment ango showed them his bag. he asked for those pictures knowing they would likely never meet up with this same simpleness ever again. dazai asked ango if he really needed to leave so soon, knowing their friendship was at its end. and then you just have to live with that apparently ?
Am I the only one who realized that *Chuuya* knew as soon as the Dragon's Head Conflict? He states it in Dead Apple. And that he was pissed off but not to the point of killing Ango, because he realized Ango was just a low-ranking government agent back then. It was just one more reason to be angry at the government.
But if Chuuya knew that early, Dazai also had to know. It's just that last night in Lupin's when he realized the wheels were finally coming off. He'd spent a while trying to save what he could. But he didn't realize that he was going to lose Oda as well.
He'd more or less forgiven Ango by the time the Guild came around. There's a little bit that didn't make it into the anime when he grabs Ango's gun.
That says to me, Dazai was expected to act bitchy.
i think chuuya only found out after ango was revealed to be a traitor during the dark era arc. otherwise, why would he not have confronted ango before dead apple? it was clear that ango was surprised by chuuya letting him go. it wouldn't make sense for him to be surprised if chuuya had already confronted him about his friends. chuuya was only reflecting on ango's rank retroactively. it's never really implied that chuuya knew beforehand, and it is made clear to us that dazai only had real proof that made him accept the connection during the first lupin scene in dark era.
ango expected dazai to act bitchy because of his role in oda's death. i don't see how that specifically would mean anything about dazai possibly having known about his status as a double agent earlier?
Chuuya probably didn't think it worth killing more people over the Quilin incident. Especially when Ango still had a position as Mori's direct subordinate (remember, neither Chuuya nor Dazai were executives/underbosses yet).
We've joked before about how Ango managed to survive pissing off both sides of Double Black. At least some of that seems to stem from Chuuya staying out of his way (and why do fic writers never consider this as why Chuuya stayed out of Lupin's, rather than jealousy?). And Dazai really tried to let it slip, until it was obvious Ango was a triple agent. Once Gidé directly threatened Oda, no really once the black ops showed up, he couldn't pretend Ango wasn't involved anymore.
Dazai knew the second time they met (after Oda extracted Ango then was drugged by the black ops) that he was a triple agent. Oda works it out as well. Then Dazai states the whole web step by step while in Mori's office.
Sorry is the reply is disorganized. It's very late for me,
the thing is...none of this is proof or even implies that chuuya knew earlier.
if chuuya had no interest in killing ango, he could have easily confronted him because what does that hurt? where ango had omly just gained his position by being forced into service after crossing the port mafia, chuuya was a loyal sub-executive.
it makes no sense for chuuya to be jealous of ango or oda. Chuuya was always surrounded by people, if anything he would be slightly glad for dazai, even if it's not something he says. The reason he didn't go into lupin (that we saw) is that it's not his place. Why would he go impose himself on dazai's friend group, as if the port mafia isn't filled with his own friends that he would want to spend time with instead.
you kind of just narrated the series of events and then inserted your headcanons amongst them but I don't see what your reasoning is at all.
