This is the templete I used. The reason that I used this was because I suck at human antomy.
Just thinking about how emotions get amplified for vampires so the fact that v!scott never felt anything shows just how deep his emotional repression was. Also how overwhelming it must have been to feel vampirically amplified grief as your first emotion in hundreds of years.

Scott goes to visit the only thing he has left of Avid. Squishy. Though as he does, he reflects on the past, and the arrangement he had made with Abolish.
Or Scott visits Squishy and, talks with Abolish about how he can some how still keep Squishy alive and living near New York without endagering innocent citizens, with a pet that only eats human flesh.

Hi, second post, so in the first post I forgot to say that I wrote the fic, and I'll say it here for this one, where I did write this as well.
Though, at the time Scott hated the idea, and thought that bringing an unpredictable creature back to Oakhurst was a bad idea. Now, however, he wished that he had allowed Avid to take the toothy beast home, if only to give the young vampire a greater chance at living and making it out of Oakhurst in a semi-alive state.
Or; Scott goes insearch for Squishy all the while he's still deeply mouring the loss of the first person who shown him unconditional love.

miscellaneous ramblings under cut!!
the college is, of course, called oakhurst university
apo and pyro are upper classmen, studying architecture and history
pyro and shelby are TAs for professor goldsmith, who teaches history
abolish is the RA of a floor full of party students. he is dead inside.
avid and drift are freshmen rooming together, studying chemistry and criminology respectively
scott (aka professor goldsmith) and shelby are neighbors (not roommates) who live in an apartment complex right off-campus. scott is just living in an apartment temporarily while his house is under renovation
dr legs is an adjunct professor who teaches human disease
professor sausage teaches english and literature, and he will make you buy his novels as class materials
ren is an older guy who didn't get the chance to go to college when he was younger, but he's HERE NOW. DONTCHA KNOW.
martyn only really went to college cause his parents made him, but he's actually pretty invested in it now. business major.
owen's a campus security guard. he hates his job with a fervent passion.
i realize i didnt give abolish a major earlier. and to be completely honest despite watching his pov i have no idea what major he'd have so im shoving him in business as well.
...abolish definitely got a very fancy scholarship though
pearl's a varsity athlete studying psychology and cleo's double majoring biology and history. they're both in their last year of undergraduate school: cleo is SO ready to be out of here and pearl is looking for any excuse to stay around a bit longer

oh and truffle is a guinea pig. obviously. that's the whole point of this post
the story there is that apo and pyro were out shopping early-on in the semester and ended up going to a pet store (pyro wanted to look at the cats. because cats.)
truffle was there

abolish was not happy when he discovered truffle. truffle goes against the building's no-pets policy.
apo and pyro manage to out-stubborn abolish on this matter. truffle stays.
avid has on multiple occasions caused chemical spills dangerous enough that the entire building had to be evacuated
OH AND SHELBY STUDIES LITERATURE. she wanted to get a degree in mythology but the college didnt offer one... she is firmly convinced that like 90% of myths are real
scott tends to go on long tangents in the middle of lectures where he starts with "well back in MY day" and then start talking about something from the victorian era. everyone has just learned to not question it at this point.
the initial shock that scott felt when pyro admitted to murdering avid was full of so many emotions but the particular one i want to talk about comes after the initial slap of learning that avid is truly dead and will never come back.
the irritation, the fury scott must feel after learning that his first fledgling and owen, who he's put his trust in over and over, have ONCE AGAIN gone rogue went behind his back and decided to do something that jeopardizes his mission. i couldn't imagine it.
learning that avid is truly gone must have been a stab to the heart and the knowledge that it was owen and pyro must've felt like a hand pushing the stake deeper and deeper into his chest. imagine all the things running through his head in that moment.
how many times has pyro taken something from scott? how many times has his overconfidence cost the coven? how many times has scott gone out of his way to try to build rapport with the humans only for owen to run in and terrorize the town immediately after. how many times has scott, or any other vampire of the coven, needed assistance and owen was nowhere to be found? all of that and they still have the gall to go around thinking they can decide who and who isn’t coven?
the coven is one built out of necessity and scott has been very, very charitable to pyro and owen because of that, but this final transgression has used up the last of it.
