OK SAY HELLO TO PAWNIE. theyre so Strange i love them LORE DUMP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
they were originally created to just be a silly oc design because i never make object ocs anymore and i'd never made one for a specific show, but i gave her more of a story than i intended so here's a little summary
she's from the "real world" and is a steve cobs fangirl to a worrying extent. like. kpop stan level LOL (affectionate), she's totally fascinated by him
she sought out a job at meeple for that exact reason, and wormed her way up to a high enough position that she would Maybe see cobs like once a week if she was lucky---and she ended up being on mephone4's ship when melife was deactivated in the s2 finale (even though she was probably not supposed to LIKE GIRL GO HOME YOUR SHIFT ENDED AN HOUR AGO)
they didn't find their way to the society until like a week-ish after cobs died, and was TOTALLY distraught about it, and was even more distraught by the idea that Nobody Else Fucking Liked That Guy Like?????? pawnie was really heavily disliked by a lot of people on the island for a while because she WOULD NOT stop defending cobs. like babe he literally tried to kill all of us we do not care that he gave you dental insurance. taco hates her and they will NOT make up
ANYWAY eventually they realized exactly zero people liked cobs and they slowly adjust to life in the society. theyre kind of weird about it like "ok lets agree to disagree!" when confronted with the many reasons why cobs sucks but it's Okay i Guess because they Live Here Now So We Have To Deal With It.
and at least they're getting BETTER and TRYING. they join the safety squad too... they're a nice person if you ignore the whole cobs thing. and also The Other Thing
The Other Thing (genuinely unrelated to cobs/poppy i just think its an interesting side effect of their personality) is that pawnie is like. really really mean to robots
they've worked at meeple and watched all of cobs' stupid tech expos since they were like 15, and have formed a really unempathetic attitude towards his inventions & robots in general, which is where a LOT of the conflict between pawnie and the other islanders arises. she sees them solely as tools, or as simply inconveniences when they're not being useful.
so for a long time, pawnie has literally zero sympathy for mepad's death ("cant u just buy another one LOL??" girl shut UP), they dgaf about the mephones, and they're just MEAN to metag AND bot oh my GOD. like they will kick those robots like rocks if theyre in her way girl wtf is wrong with youuuugghhhh
anyway this is quietly a problem for a while, but MOSTLY pawnie has adjusted pretty well to life on the island as long as you dont bring up those 2 things. great everythings going great right
ANYWAY anyway, THEN poppy shows up and pawnie gets like 50x worse about cobs
and even though i guess she's technically the main character of her own story, she's very antagonistic for a while in general---she thinks poppy is like the second coming of cobs, and while the rest of the island is trying to make sure that poppy ISN'T like cobs, pawnie is kind of trying to make sure that poppy IS??? or at least, she's trying to convince poppy that cobs wasn't as bad as everyone says, and is REALLY clinging to the belief that poppy is in any way similar to cobs
i say that their relationship with poppy is much more platonically obsessive than romantic for a long while, because for a while, pawnie only sees poppy as an extension of her idol---she shoves herself into poppy's life (and shoves metag & bot aside while doing so, which is becoming a bigger and bigger problem. she literally stole her bandana from bot's head kjsdhksjhg like ACTUALLY STOPPP)
the whole point of their dynamic is pawnie's character growth: poppy teaches her to be more empathetic and open to personal reflection. slowly (VERY SLOWLY BC PAWNIES LOWKEY ANNOYING), pawnie learns to listen & understand why the islanders hate/fear cobs so much, treat bot & metag with respect, and view poppy as their own person
i wouldn't say either of them truly 'love' each other until pawnie's character growth nears its end, and she can actually see poppy as their own person who is completely separate & different from cobs, and still worthy of a deeper, genuine kind of love. personal growth woo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
anyway its a sweet story in the end but for 90% of it pawnie is genuinely an Issue for Everybody on this Goddamn Island its so funny i love her ajshdfgdsfkjgh

Thoughts below
Bomb: I imagine Bomb lived a long time, personally I view him as one of the stronger contestants (and he’s very smart when you look into his few scenes in the show). As long as his fuse isn’t lit he’d be good. Here he’d get infected by either being clawed at until he was ripped open or by getting a chunk bit out of him… I imagine the infection would act very fast since he’s already extremely weak from losing his arm and a fourth of his body. First his legs grow stronger and longer, then eyes start forming in the pit of the infection visible in him, and over time the fuse grows and contorts until it becomes a very strong claw. Unless the infection is flammable, you would not be able to light him anymore. He’s very fast, pays attention, and is strong- extremely dangerous. The fuse is also very long, so he can reach far distances. He is one of the infected who can still speak, and he keeps his stutter when he tries, but of course his vocabulary isn’t very expansive, just like the others. Bomb is also very expressive (for what it’s worth), but mostly just smiles.
I wanted to have the eyes extend from Bomb and stick out, moving around and twisting weird and grossly. Kinda looking like a lighthouse? But I didn’t wanna do too much
Nickel:
Instead of his body changing, things started growing out of him. The legs grew out of missing pieces of him and cracks which the infection caused from the inside out. The right one would come out of where he was already chipped, the other hole is entirely caused by the infection growing. The arms out of his mouth are very weak and rarely move, he never had arms and even infected he doesn’t seem to know what to do with them much. They’re mostly useless to him, except for pushing branches out of the way considering the fact he’s EXTREMELY tall. He sounds like he is constantly choking, and his footsteps are very loud. Also, his original legs aren’t affected at all! They dangle helplessly, but move a lot more than the infected limbs, usually flailing about and “freaking out” from instinctually thinking he’s gonna fall since he’s not touching the ground with them. Nickel’s expression never changes, always staring at the ground looking traumatized, and he has no eyes grown from him so it’s very easy to avoid him as long as you make little sound and don’t go directly in front of him. The grown legs are very strong, and are his main way of attacking, but due to colliding with the rest of his body it’s really difficult for him to pull off. Overall not a big threat, just scary. If he were to see Baseball I’d imagine his actual legs would reach out for him, and his eyes would move slightly to look at him, but his infected arms would just go limp and infected legs walk towards him a bit slowly (they’re always pretty slow tbh.) Maybe his infected arms would try to pick him up and observe him, might be a silly thing to add!
I was gonna make Nickel blind in his left eye, as in the cracks continuing to there to be the opposite of Baseball, but again decided against adding too much.
Hopefully this is good!! I like it and I’m happy to show my two fav object show characters ever (aside from Baseball) some love…if you can call this that

our kid is asking me for help to learn how to draw eyes. i started putting a 'short tutorial' together for him and its now nine pages long and im not even done everything i wanted to say yet.
ive never really made a tutorial before, do you guys have anything more you think i could show him how to do? im planning on getting into eyebrows, eye expressions, and maybe the proportions of the eye in the human face...?
