Abigael sitting on the horn of a very large Triceratops.
"Ah yes, the half blue-half yellow hermaphrodite known for their strange, philosophically profound dialogue with a complicated relationship involving a sentient celestial body that perpetually floats above the earth."
Rex Sketches. Swinging from a vine, walking and throwing a dinosaur over his shoulder.
Diane's version of Bi-Panic is jumping really high into the air like a startled cat.
Happy Pride Month!
Rex Doodle.
Solaire of Astora in the Polynesian inspired style I did last time for the Elite Knight Set.
Speaking of, there's also a sketch of said Elite Knight facing off against a bell Gargoyle, this time with a crest of coral on it's head while sporting tiki-plate and a Koa Axe at the end of it's tail.
Lots of square and rectangular patterns with Solaire here, aside from the sun. I wanted to make the smiles look more happy and kind then the fearsome ones you tend to see on actual tiki totems and statues, he is the original sun bro after all.
PRAISE THE SUN!!!
(In a really posh rich person voice)
"Hmm yes, the Dark Souls formula is sequestered by numerous occasions of longitude caused by a deep and fathomless nausea originating from the behest of one's own endocrine system, supplanted, subpoenaed and... dare I say- Sasquatched by the blephremphatiglasbique arithmetic of nihilistic nostalgia."
(Takes sip of grape juice because alcohol is bad for you.)
The classic and iconic Dark Souls 1 Elite Knight Set, in a Polynesian inspired style. Feathered Hawai'ian helmet crest, some Tiki faces on a few of the armor bits, and Kiribati style woven rope-mail. Also a shark tooth sword for good measure.
A stitched together fella. A resurrected chimera of flesh. A Frankenstein's monster. A guy with a big forehead. A dude with a screw loose. A male with a screw in his neck. A boy goated with the sauce.
A werewolf.
Or it could be a normal wolf. Didn't draw the rest of the body, so who's to say?
Me. Me's to say. It's a werewolf.
Vampire Doodle. He's going to zuck your blooOOoood!
Lord Yupa Sketch from Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind.
Abigael with some wargear. Epoccipitals are those bumps along the rim of a ceratopsian dinosaur's frill.
The front view of a ceratopsian was the inspiration for the Epoccipital shield. The frill makes the widest part of the shield, with the rond and grip (on the reverse side) located where the snout would be. At the bottom there's a spike which sort of matches the dinosaur's beak. The shield is held with the spike pointing with the fist, allowing for some gnarly punches. Hopefully those bumps along the rim would help with parrying?
I like the Ikakalaka sword shape because it has 'Africa Vibes' and also for the cool ways that tip could be used. Thrusts could be like the chopping of an axe, and the hooks could be used to drag armored opponents and their weapons, or to bore thru the hides of tougher creatures.
I was looking at some of those big fighting coats that I think were used by the Mali Cavalry? Thick quilted armor that was both protective and colorful. I really like how different it is from European plate armor, but I still want to evoke some of those shapes so Abigael's Knight / protective-mom-friend-character-class is easy to recognize. I though about how having wooden plate instead of metal would help make it feel more magical and prehistoric, but how I want to blend or stack that plate on top of the actual African-style armor is still a puzzle for me.
I'm digging the hanging square plates, it makes her feel both tanky and flexible. Her hair being a bunch of tubes with lots of volume along with these dangling plates will add a lot more dynamics to her movement. Also- there's a helmet that's like a Torosaurus version of Malenia's helmet from Elden Ring. I like it a lot too.
Rex in a different outfit. Nice light garments with some coral prayer beads.
Abigael with some large headwear plumed with exotic feathers.
Rex on a public transport of some kind, traveling through a dry mesa. Are they in an airship, or on the back of a large sauropod?
Special talismans overhead protect from mean spirits. A child chases his pet musk rat while his brother sits close to their carnotaurus protector. A woman rests with a caged creature in her lap. A smoking warrior reads some parchment. Another warrior listens to the ramblings of a beak-masked fellow. Rex sits in the middle, patiently meditating through the ride, hands together and feet clasped.
Diane Dark and a baby protoceratops about to dig in to some taquitos. I've loved taquitos ever since I was very little. Soft or crunchy, with just enough spice and that smokey meat flavor. Just thinking about it makes my mouth water.
I feel weird drawing this Latina character of mine all happy and goofy while real people like her are getting snatched off the streets and ripped away from their families. The giddy excitement and sadism of the people in power and those who put them there is baffling. I didn't think this stuff would happen again. All the stories from school and old people about concentration camps and genocides seemed so mythical and far from modern reality. But it's real. It was always real and it was always just a few gnashing, frothing-at-the-mouth humans to nudge us back to it.
It's all so evil. Please look out for each other, even people you don't know.
