who didn't really get to see her being a carefree kid because his wife, her mother, died shortly after he got home. Her health had been failing for a while, but jack is sure she saw it as his fault because of how ardently she rejected his presence after she died. ive had so many ideas with Dennis and trinity working odd jobs after i found out first year residents in Pittsburgh make about 65-71 k, second year would push that up to 79K, which yes would be firmly middle class

but most doctors have about 250 k dollars in med school debt and a standard payment plan would have them to pay around 40k a year. which would place them around the poverty line in actual spendable money.

and i looked on appartments.com, the cheapest 2-bedroom apartment i found in Pittsburgh is 1,750/ m without utilities, so they are spending at least 21 K on just housing alone each year. again, not including electricity or water or any repairs they need. ( i feel like there would be some since that's what Trinty used as an excuse to why she asked Dennis to move in) and the average groceries for a household of two adults is like 5,300 a year.

so if we are taking all of these values at face value, trinity would be spending 65K a year on necessities, which could very well have been the entity of her pay. but we have to remember that she still has taxes, and payments towards a 401k and social security, which might have put her into debt.

which makes trinity's offer for him to live with her without rent or anything even kinder, we don't know what, if any, savings she had, and she didn't even have her first doctor paycheck yet. like she knew she would've already been living paycheck to paycheck and decided to add someone else, a dependent, to her life.

It also makes me see fics where they are going out all the time in a completely different light. It makes me realize ppl done fully understand the realities they'd be living under. like after Dennis becomes a doctor, maybe, but not in around season one.

and with the price of gas and groceries ever-increasing they would likely want to make some extra money.

Dennis who joins Robby and abbots' relationship because they seem so idealistic, they've been with each other for decades and supported each other through everything. they trust each other, the know each other better than they know themselves and are the reason the other is still alive.

but he slowly feels like his presence in their relationship is causing a rift, and has his worst fear, that he was just something to spice up their marriage affirmed. They use him to make the other jealous, he has to settle any arguments they get into, neutrality i not an option, they say hurtful things to each other and come to him for comfort after their fights.

He wouldn't know if they would fight like that before he entered the picture, but he feels like if this was a regular occurrence they would've gotten divorced ages ago. so, it must be because of him.

but they have always been like this, this is just the first time someone has gotten close enough to to see them like this. they are used to this; in a way they find comfort in it. they know no matter how bad their fight gets they won't break up. why would they? who else would they be with if not each other?

they are secure in their relationship, what they aren't secure in is their new relationship to Dennis. so, they start a fight, like they do with each other, except Dennis doesn't fight back, he just says they should break up. He felt like they must have gotten sick of him, before they would argue with each other and try and goad him onto their sides.

they had never, not once ever, raised their voice towards him. But he figures it couldn't have lasted forever anyways to its better to end now because the longer he stays and tries to make it work the more it's going to hurt when they break up with him
