@jimtitkirk
reading star trek strangers from the sky and are u kidding me????😭😭😭
First time reading this Spirky excerpt. Thought I'd share it in case any of my followers hadn't seen it before
I dont cry easily usually but if i think about how far away the voyager 1 probe is i will start bawling my eyes out for some reason. This may be why im the only person alive that enjoys star trek the motion picture, but alas
TOS eyes.
Couldn't resist drawing some suuuper close ups. I mean, there's not a single person on the enterprise that doesn't have beautiful eyes.
At this point, having wonderful eyes was probably among the requisites to be a Starfleet officer.IDK
Four to bead beam down, Mr Scott!
This is is possibly the coolest Star Trek TOS fan art I’ve ever seen!
STAR TREK III: THE SEARCH FOR SPOCK (1984) dir. Leonard Nimoy
#yeah that about sums up Sarek's perception of Kirk#everyone else thinks Kirk made logical spock crazier#but Sarek is like no no you did not know teenage spock#Kirk has tamed him#this is what spock looks like when he's tamed <---prev
"Vulcans do not lie" is my favourite fact about Vulcans that Vulcans made up
In context too
the more i watch star trek tos, the more it becomes abundantly clear that the reason why modern trek doesnt get kirk at all is because they dont utilise mccoy nearly as much anymore
in modern trek, they always present the idea of logic vs emotion, with spock being logic and kirk being emotion, but thats not how tos has it. in tos, the logic vs emption debate is spock vs mccoy. kirk is supposed to be the mediator between the two, sometimes siding with one side over the other, sometimes finding a middle ground between the two. thats why hes the captain, hes able to see all angles and pick the best course
when you make kirk the emotional one, it completely breaks the format, because 9 time out of 10, it means kirk has to be correct. theres no more balance
mccoy is just as important to tos as spock is, and while i do understand why spock is as popular as he is, without mccoy, the show doesnt work. you need them both. kirk spock and mccoy are the three leads of the show, and removing one requires you to change the others, which is whats happened to kirk
That post about 1960s housewives watching Amok Time and opening their eyes and this passage from one of the Searoad stories by Ursula K Le Guin (noted author and 1960s housewife)
“Truly, hopelessly, forever.” GIRL?
[STAR TREK ANIME TITLECARD SEQUENCE]
I’ve been watching more old sci fi anime, so I wanted to make a little spoof of what it would look like if Star Trek had gotten one! For now my energy only lasted long enough to make a little titlecard, but if I ever find it again I wanna make some screenshots ✨
vulcans and klingons both have very intense emotions and are both physically much stronger than most other species but where vulcans have created a culture largely based around tempering their emotions and restraining themselves, klingons have instead developed a culture of revelling in the intensity and passion and cultivating those aspects of themselves.
i don’t have a point here i just think vulcans and klingons are two sides of the same coin and their most major differences are pretty much entirely down to cultural elements and learned traits.
And they both slap
Star Trek conventions are so funny. After I got an autograph from somebody, I went to an empty table nearby so I could set my stuff down for a second while I put my autograph in a protective sleeve, and I hear somebody yell at Ethan Peck (whose table is across from the empty table) "HEY HOT SPOCK!" and I turn around because I want to know who the fuck just said that. And it was Jonathan Frakes.
My friend was getting an autograph from Frakes and chatting with him about Adventure Time when I noticed some guy had pushed in front of them and started trying to get him to sign something else first.
That some guy was Robert Picardo.
Apparently he was explaining that they're all signing this ship model for charity, and Shatner had signed it too.
Frakes leaned back in his chair thoughtfully and said "Shatner.... I keep hearing that name, was he on Star Trek?"
And then all three of them got to explore their theories on who this Shatner guy could possibly be.
