angry noises pertaining to my inability to write this school au the way i want. school is so boring. kids don't walk home together anymore. hus rides are loud and chaotic and everyone's on their phones. i would love to see the main characters walk home together and buy snacks at the corner store during breaks and take naps in quiet corners together during the lunch hour but this is distinctly College Life and not High School Life grrrrrr growlll

Wait shit is "ofc" actually "of fucking course" and not just "of course"?????? I have so many people I should apologize to

i see many people argue that ofc is simply "of course" and does not employ any cursing, but i MUST point out that ofc as "of course" directly goes against the concept of abbreviation.

there are many precedents to the "f" meaning fuck: wtf, tf, lmfao, omfg, stfu, etc. even a shorthand like mofo is consistent in its two-letter format. even if "of" is only two letters long, using it in full and abbreviating "course" is trying to force a format that no other shorthand uses. i'm sorry but "oc is too common" is not a good enough reason to break all the rules

My therapist, who specializes in adults with ADHD, recently told me that all of her clients need a three day crash period after a big life change. Finish the semester? Crash. Change jobs? Crash. Go on a really cool, really relaxing vacation? Crash the moment you get home.

It's true of literally all of her clients. She works with a lot of them to put systems in place so that their crashes are only three days. This includes the high-powered execs who travel regularly for work. It does not matter how successful or high functioning they are - they have ADHD, and crashing is just part of the process of living with it.

I'm sharing this with all you ADHD friends out there, just in case you (like me) start shaming yourself if your crash lasts more than one day. It turns out three days is kind of the best case scenario. Be kind to yourselves!

Any tips for maintaining motivation/getting motivation? Me and my Executive Dysfunction and CFS fucking impressed and terrified at the amount of Things you can do in a day

I think building a routine is the key to drawing regularly, even when you lack motivation. But I am a big believer in building that routine in a way that works for you! For example, start by drawing something so easy that you would think it’s SILLY if you don’t finish drawing it. Something like sketching a head. Now that the head is done, maybe you feel motivated to sketch the body? If not, that’s okay, you’re done for now. But maybe tomorrow, you’ll sketch out the body! And then, step by step, at your own pace, you’ll have something finished. I also try to intentionally find some kind of motivation in whatever I’m doing. In my freelance work, there’s usually something I really like about the project and that'll drive me to work on it. In my personal projects, I usually have a playlist or pinterest board that puts me in the mindset for the project. It's also totally okay to not have a high output all the time, I don't think it's realistic for any artist to be super productive every day of the year! Last year I drew basically nothing October through December.

I don't need to tell you this but I just want to make sure this is out there: if you have CFS please be careful!! Assess your limits so that you don’t have post exertion symptoms that will significantly impact you. Also find ways to draw that might feel more comfortable for you, like on the couch or on the bed.
