Best advice I can give is to keep this site open when you start to play. This, alongside with errata and official Pilot.NET discord helped with many situations.

Actually, 230 km/h isn't even their top speed.

A Nelson's perpetual momentum drive is based on spooling technology used in the nearlight leashes for starfighters. It can dump a .000001 light-second charge into the mobility system with the flick of a switch. Honestly, the hardest part was keeping the sudden acceleration from killing the pilot.

And that's not even getting into what happens if you can hit endless momentum.

Still, glad you made it through and found yourself another Everest. It's a good frame, especially if you're getting kicked off mountains.

Apologies for my outburst, I have been volatile, of late.

I think it is just becoming real to me that I cannot go home. I spent so long trying to go back after I was exiled, to become myself again, to see my home and my family, and now I know that any condition where I return is one where I will return a noble who had abdicated her position once, and so not one I will be allowed to maintain. Most likely I take the fall for the disaster in the Orbit and I am quietly shut away again, home but caged.

I miss it. I miss the flowers, the breeze, the heat of the star and the sound of the birds. I miss my mother. I miss her so much, I recommended that movie yesterday and saw her face on the cover and became inconsolable, I spent the night in Postlimniae just to feel a familiar touch, of someone who knows that world. I was in there most of the day today.

Saleh has made me eat something today. I feel better, I guess, but there's just a yawning pain in my memory now. It feels odd, mourning a person and a world that is not dead, but simply dead to me.

Not kids though. I was swapping from Big Sal to my flesh-suit in a spot I thought was discreet, and as I'm sealing the bottom of it's face in place and calibrating my eyes to the daylight, I hear this chorus of little gasps, and I look over to see this group of kids with a box of chalk.

They stare a moment as I work the lower jaw into place, and then they all start clamoring about how cool my body is.

I spent thirty minutes answering all their questions. One little girl absolutely LOVED seeing the transparent patches on my braincasing.

Kids, man.

Sic Semper spent even longer there answering questions and supervising, fwiw. He's always been a bit of a worrywart. Especially with kids.

What would you be doing if you weren't a pilot? Know it's a weird question, but grunts who do this as a day job tend to have more interesting inner worlds than most "ace" types. Especially of y'all's era.

All of the graceful engineering that marks the rest of this ship makes the hydroponics bay look like a mess in comparison.

I've tasked myself to fixing this. It is funny; botany is considered a noble art, but it is one I am only getting the opportunity to put into practice now.

The first task is actually making the setup make sense for each of the things being grown here. The choice so far seems eclectic and mostly based on what is most simple and not what is most ideal, and almost everything is fed off of the same nutrient wash. This can be made better. I do need to figure out what kind of flowers half of these are, though. They bear resemblance to a species of some concern, but I've concluded that they're perfectly legal, just unfamiliar to me.

This will take some time.

In general, yes. GALCOMM is a subsidiary of IPS-N. We recruit all over the Arm, and most NGC personnel train on the Honest Truth way back in Argo Navis.

In specific, perhaps not. The Dawnline Shore is pretty isolated, that's part of the problem. Since the Shore is slowly catching fire and we can't count on outside reinforcements, I think they're hoping to train some people here instead.

GALCOMM pilots are almost exclusively trained for naval engagements. Barring exceptional circumstances, we don't do ground stuff. While there is some training for ship attack, most of what we do is boarding.

Boarding is incredibly brutal. You can expect to see a third of your people come back on stretchers or in bags, and that's if things go well. While you might think this is where having some cannon fodder might be helpful to go in first and soak up bullets, that's not how it works.

Teamwork is critical to getting through a boarding action alive. If someone pulls a stupid stunt that gets them killed, it's probably going to get the rest of their team killed too. And the squad of marines they're supposed to be supporting. And potentially other teams too, because now they need to pick up the slack left by the first team.

At least when it comes to boarding, bad help is worse than no help at all.
