what happened to squad t-11 :skull:
I...
I happened.
We were just supposed to escort some cargo... it was no biggie. Routine. Hell my first deployment was an escort mission. But what we were escorting was experimental weapons, super high value shit, for our client anyway.
Worked like a charm, first few days we only got a little dinged up
Then we got ambushed in a choke point.
Three days we were shot at.
Three. Fucking days. Behind the same piece kf cover - chip made sure we couldn't be flushed out, bless, but... we were stuck.
Couldn't exactly leave, and even if we could, we couldn't get the cargo out quick enough. Our only real option was to go out on foot into the ruins - all this was going on in some colony world, you understand, urban environment - and salvage what we needed to make field repairs. One of us had to keep watch at all times as well; we had an early warning system set up, courtesy of salt. But that also needed to be continually operated, by hand, and a mech is a hell of a Faraday cage.
So there were at least half of us outside our mech at any given point.
That's... how we lost salt. Ey went out scavenging in er mech. Wasn't stealthy enough, got jumped by a pack of ronin.
We were gonna call it quits, ditch our pay and evac, when comms went down. A whole team of Wa.Zal red yokes, a witch, and some fuckshit reverse engineered from Salt's RCA. They knew our general vicinity, and knew we couldn't keep it up without communications.
Everyone else slept in their mechs from then on. Four more days of this shit. But I can't, sleeping while plugged into an amber phantom is a bad, bad idea. So I got the nightwatch.
That early warning system? It picked up some fast moving stuff. Didn't know what it was, didn't know what call to make, no IFF, no reason to believe it was anything other than a glitch it was far too big and fast and-
Had to-
Hic
Had to make a call. I wasn't ready, I wasn't meant to-
Couldn't--
Couldn't make a choice. Froze up. Turns out it was some kind of bomber. Broke through our perimeter with ease. Then they sent the cavalry, now that we could be flushed out like normal. Foolish, our damn cargo truck, and smoke were buried in the rubble. Smoke... didn't make it. Chip grabbed the cargo and ran, he was in a nelson, was enough of a distraction for me to climb under the rubble, get in Foolish and...
Hide.
I'm just lucky I got to bring Smoke back.
Chip got to the evac point with the stupid fucning guns.
...bled out before we could get to an auto doc.
[Several minutes of anguished, animal sobs]
Does. That. Does it answer your question?!
I happened.
Just like last time
