So. I have come to a conclusion. I think I know what's truly under Suos eye patch.
corneal blindness.

That's what it looks like.

So. Lots of people think it's an injury, others think it's a different colored eye. But what if it was both? In the description of it and why it's caused I highlighted one that stood out to me most. Trauma. It's obvious that Suo has lots of things that he hides, but, when he first introduced himself to you he said something along the lines of "and before you ask what this is for" (while pointing at his eye patch) "it's to seal the ancient Chinese spirit" or something and proceed to say it was going to be unleashed soon. putting it in that context, I do believe he's had the eye patch on for quite a while and he knows that it is going to be about time that he has to take it off and by taking it off, unleashing a truth about himself that may or may not cause chaos. Or at least that's what I think. I feel this idea of Corneal blindness being a thing because of it being an injury but also an insecurity. That's why he wears the eyepath. To try and have it heal, but conceal it. Now, I could be way off with this but I think I'm on the right track.
Some more things I found interesting in my research. Suo always wears clothes that fully cover him. For instance:
His shirts are almost always long sleeves or slightly above the elbow. Nothing else.
Even when "playing" with/in water (not really but still) he's still covered up.
People who do that either do this just for comfort or to show something they're insecure about it or just can't show anything. more. (Don't ask me how I got these photos okay)
Another thing is the fact that he likes Chinese clothing so much. Which leads me to believe he has some sort of connection with the Chinese whether it be by blood or by being close with other people who are Chinese.
"In some cultures, tassels were used to signify protection and power. For example, in ancient China, tassels were worn as amulets to ward off evil spirits. In other parts of the world, they symbolized wealth and success."(Sorry idk where I got this from) but anyways, this makes sense for Suo. It plays into the eyepath part in a way.
I also wanna say, lots of people have said he looks similar to Izan from Tokyo Revengers, and Izan is half Filipino and half Japanese. So, I believe it wouldn't be too much of a big stretch to think that Suo is half Chinese and Japanese. Another thing! His birthday. He was born on March 28, 2007 or 2008. Which would mean he's an Aries and his Chinese zodiac sign would be the Pig(2007) or the Rat(2008).
The pig is described to be a "Cool-headed and capable in any situation, detailed-oriented, intelligent, free-spirited, and a little too generous. They're passionate and enthusiastic, well-liked by friends who'll be there for Pig unconditionally because Pig was there for them.( chinesenewyear.net/zodiac/pig )

I personally think Suo is the pig. Buuuut I also came across this for the rat.

Their mystery is strategic, not selfish, so they would make great team players." Which also describes Suo extremely well. But I'll have to look into it more. (Also please if anyone knows more about the Chinese Zodiac tell me and correct me if I'm wrong.)
Buuut yeah. That's what I got so far. There are more things I'd like to cover but I don't want to right now. This took awhile šš but yeah, that's my take and I'll come back again with another theory

Jeez, you weren't kidding about this whole detective thing, you're somehow almost nosier than Nirei... Then again, we wouldn't have to theorise all the damn time if he just told us about himself for once.
But still, whatever's under that eyepatch isn't for me to say, theorising is more of Nirei's thing. I'll just wait for him to tell us himself. He waited for me to open up, so it's only fair I wait too.

THAT BEING SAID!! Even if heās a little dodgy with the details, Suoās still my friend and Iām going to take his word first!! Therefore, Iām going to lay down now that Suoās eye is an injury. Full stop. It is the best conclusion that Iāve had confirmation for (I mean, not really confirmed, but when suo answers with āyes, at least thatās what everyone else says,ā itās probably the closest Iām getting to one) and in turn, thats pretty much been the basis of my prime theories!!
N-not to say this person is wrong or anything!! Just my personal take on it ^^
BUT! There are a few things Iād like to add!! As weāve seen before, Suoās preferred fighting style often tends to take advantage of his opponentās center of gravity and balance, throwing them off kilter by either pulling/pushing or generally becoming a physical obstacle (ie. the roly poly tactic). HOWEVER, to accomplish this without any visual injuries, Suo would arguably need solid spatial awareness and concentration to find and hit openings that
1) take down his opponent with minimal effort and high efficiency and accuracy
And 2) achieve the amount of gracefulness that comes with his movements WITHOUT coming into contact with something else unintentionally, especially its something that may hurt him
The problem here, though, is the fact that spatial awareness is something that those with eye injuries/limited vision constantly struggle with. But suo on the other hand has excellent spatial awarenessābetter than some of our classmates if the words āitās like he has eyes on the back of his headā hold any weight. (Input taken directly from class 1-1!!)
Therefore, i feel that we can agree that this āinjuryā is something that suo has had for years, if not his entire life. Even if we ignore his eye and only acknowledge his eyepatch, suo would 100% struggle with spatial awareness if partial vision was a more recent thing. (Still possible that training with his aforementioned āmasterā could have alleviated some of his problems with itā¦.)
N-now I get what you may be thinkingāāthis is such an obvious concept, why are you bringing this up?ā Well hereās what I want to point out: assuming this is an injury (which Iām very deadset on believing, but Iāll explain more in a second), you can actually gain some probable insight to Suoās life prior to furin!! Nothing concrete of course, I could still be wrong, but at least itās more than Suoās willing to give us ^^
To start off, letās go ahead and take a look at Suoās eyepatchā¦
As Iāve tried to demonstrate here, Suoās eyepatch is actually ratherā¦large. Here, Iāve tried to visually pinpoint the size of it compared to his normal eye. As you can see, not only does it cover his entire eye, but it also covers a decent portion of his cheek!!
Though itās very possible that this is simply a standard for eyepatches in order to ensure the eye is covered at all times, Iād like to bring up the possibility that it could also be used to hide any scarring around the eye caused from larger wounds. Assuming this is true, this could also coincide with Suoās more modest clothing style if we were to take it even further and presume that suo has other scars or other features on his body (especially his torso. A good portion of his outfits have him in multiple layers, though itās typically just an additional jacket or cardigan).
Now if we combine this theory of suo having scars alongside the notion of him using the eyepatch for a large portion of his life, I offer a few possibilities:
A) the āincidentā resulting in the injury happened sometime in early childhood. The existence of a surrounding scar implies that either the wound was incredibly severe OR suo was unable to reach medical attention in time to prevent scarring/didnāt have access to medical attention at all for whatever reason.
B) since suo loves jokes with lies and half truths (especially when it comes to sakura COUGH COUGH), itās possible that his eye being an āinjuryā is a technicality in of itself. What I mean by this is that itās possible that suo was born with his eye already in this condition whether that be from complications or simply just genetics. This could explain why he doesnāt have very many issues with spatial awareness, especially if he had someone else in his life with a similar condition (a family member? His master?)
C) eye injuries tend to come with their own whole set of symptoms and pain. HOWEVER, they are regarded as especially painful due to having multiple nerve endings within the eyeball itself. Therefore, i also want to bring up the possibility that suo might have a pretty big pain tolerance, especially if the injury continues to act up and he doesnāt so much as flinch around usā¦

There was no slope or gradual fall to it; it was a straight vertical death drop with no end in sight. Nirei vaguely remembers kicking a pebble into it. He shudders at the utter lack of the memory of ever hearing a sound.
But as he stood guard, waiting for his shift to end, this time the growing volume of a scream was so much more unsettling than the silence. Andāagainst his better judgementānirei found himself inching closer and closer, until he was practically leaning over the hole itself.
He squinted his eyes, looking into the darkness for the source of the noiseā¦ before it literally smacked him in the face, shoving him backwards as the source in question flew into the air.
āā¦owwww.ā nirei groans, his body sprawled across the grass. He takes a moment to recollect himself before his attention is redirected back to the figure in the sky.
*The figure was also rendered speechless, still comprehending what was going on. But they didn't have much time to stay like that, because they were still in the air.*
*They quickly twisted their body, keeping themselves upright as they descended, butterfly haori fluttering in the air, as if it was helping the fall be slower.*
*They didn't get hurt when they landed, thankfully.*
???: "Well, that was definitely an experience..."
*They said, turning around. And that's when Nirei kinda saw it.*
*How they looked identical to him. Same hair, same face, same everything. Were there slight diferences? Yes. Like how this guy's eyes looked like an insect's eyes, or how the bangs were dyed purple, or the whole butterfly haori or accessories. But that-*

nirei has to admit, the stranger (?) looks so much more regal up close, but it makes the physical similarities so much more jarring. Though still a little dumbfounded, he hesitantly takes the otherās hand. He still makes the conscious decision to take a step back the moment he stands upright again. Yet even despite his wariness, nirei points an accusatory finger at the newcomer.
