BTW if you call yourself a transfeminist you HAVE to get educated on racial intersectionality. It is not optional. The fact that the transfeminist movement is largely on Tumblr, a site that continues to delete every single Black user it possibly can, has made it so that this site is overrun with white transfems who fall into the exact same trap as the tme transmisogynists we speak out on.

I need to do another full “rebrand” at this point. I’m already going by a different name and updating my pronouns (partly because I only ever use he/him anymore and kinda hate strangers using anything else for me, so what’s even the point in having other pronouns listed lol).

I just feel like I need a fresh start with my socials at the very least. I do this like once every 6 or so years because things start feeling stagnant after a bit.

Besides I never use my BlueSky or Dreamwidth or anything so I might as well just delete those entirely.

In the event I do decide to start over, I’ll link my new blog here and will probably leave this one up for a while. Just in case any of my mutuals wanna follow me again.

Did you know that after they switched to blind auditions, major symphony orchestras hired women between 30% to 55% more? Before bringing in “blind auditions” with a screen to conceal the the candidate, women in the top 5 major orchestras made up less than 5% of the musicians performing.

so I believe it was actually more complicated than that, in interesting ways. Because at first, when they did blind auditions, they were STILL hiring more men.

…Then they put down a carpet, so that high heels didn’t clack on the floor,  and BOOM women were suddenly getting hired.

The testers didn’t even know that’s what they were picking up on, which just goes to show how tiny of a cue it takes for misogyny to kick in.

i don’t normally add to people’s posts, but i’m an OR nurse who specializes in gender affirming surgery, and this is totally correct. when we bring the patient into the OR we always ask them what surgery they’re having (to make sure there are no oopsies) and more often than not, my top surgery patients will say “YOU’RE CUTTIN’ THESE BITCHES OFF” or “YOU’RE GONNA YEET THE TEATS” and i know i have the best job in the world.

on some level you have to view trans healthcare with the pragmatism of suicide prevention. like the reason top/bottom surgery for trans people should be free and easily accessible is because the alternative is waiting for trans people to become so miserable they kill themselves. some people! may view that alternative as the point of the pervasive screening and filtering and segregation of transgender healthcare, even!
