I saw a post here talking about the Horta episode and I came to comment as well.

I know it's very repetitive, but I'm fascinated by how Spock goes from: "I need to protect this creature. It's the last of its kind. If it dies, it will be a crime against science" to "It's going to attack my Captain. Screw it." I think Spock's thought at that moment was: there's only one creature of this species, but there's also only one Jim Kirk. And I have to preserve him.

At the same time, Jim goes from: "It's dangerous. It has to die" to "On second thought, it's not that dangerous. Spock is right. Let's save it."

They are my everything.
