I understand that posting something like this could be accompanied with “Hey Senator, you want me in the bathroom with your wife?” as I have seen many across social media. I want to acknowledge that this phrase centers on passing privilege - the idea of “shock” value because I or other transmen pass as a cismale. It shouldn’t matter what others perceive us as and to a large degree, passing is a privilege (access to hormones or surgery) - trans, gender queer and androgynous persons aren’t able to make that same point due to these factors (nor should they feel obligated to.)
