An intro!

Hello! My name is Daisy.

I am a female and my pronouns are she/her.

I am autistic. This explains my strong interests! I follow a lot of people with the same interests as me. I have a few other minor disorders, but they're not as... influential on my personality? I'm not sure if that's the right wording but it's the closest I can think of.

I live in England (and it is just as bad as people say it is). I have English and German heritage, however I have closer ties with English culture.

I am obsessed with Disney! It's been a special interest of mine ever since early childhood, but it really resurfaced about a year ago and has taken over my life since then.

I've visited Disneyland Paris 6 times! I've never visited any of the other parks, but I would love to someday.

Some other facts about me:

- My birthday is the 23rd of December — two days before Christmas! This also makes me a Capricorn. I was born in the year of the tiger!

- I have two pets: a cat and a hamster. My cat's name is Honey and my hamster's name is Button! (Guess their genders, I dare you, nobody gets it right.)

- My favourite Disney movie is Beauty and the Beast, however there are some very close seconds. I would say Lilo & Stitch is probably the closest second though!

- I have two favourite Disney songs — I seriously can't pick which one I prefer. They're Gaston and Under the Sea!

- I'm a huge fan of traditional art and animation! I'm not so much interested in CGI, it is amazing how realistic in can look and I love seeing how fast its quality has progressed in the last thirty odd years, but it's never piqued my interest as much as traditional animation does. It's the same with digital art and animation, I'm very impressed by it and still love it but it's just not my favourite! Traditional art and animation will always have a special place in my heart.

- This may just be my autism, but I'm a sucker for looping songs. When I like a certain song a lot, you can bet that'll be playing in my headphones 24/7 over and over for the next week.

There are definitely other facts about me, but I can't think at all right now... I'll update this post if I can think of anything!

Did Sulley continue visiting Boo after the events of Monsters, Inc? Because imagine him still visiting a teenage Boo (or Mary, as she would've probably told him by that point) and she has to explain to her friends and family that she's friends with a big blue furry monster.

Also, I imagine she would call Mike 'uncle'. And he'd speak to Sulley after seeing her, all like, "Did you hear that?! She called me 'uncle'! 'Uncle'!"

According to Monsters at Work; it’s implied that Yes Sulley still visits Boo from time to time

I think she’d most likely keep the Monster World a secret to any other humans if she and Sulley are still in contact by the time she’s a teenager. It could be risky/dangerous if any Adults found out about the Monster World

Also D’Aww I love the idea of Boo calling Mike “Uncle”

I haven't finished Monsters at Work because I honestly wasn't that interested in it, but Sulley also visits Boo in one of the books!

I'm pretty sure this was retconned entirely for Monsters University, but in the scrapped sequel to Monsters, Inc., human adults couldn't see monsters. This also probably isn't true anymore because Pixar didn't even produce the scrapped sequel, it was done by Disney.

Sorry if I'm a little less active. My hamster just died. I know a hamster is only a small pet and it might seem a little silly but she was a big part of my life. I loved her so much and I'm gonna take a while to get over her.

I think this is cute.

Me and my brother have a 12 year age gap — he's older than me, 26 to be exact.

When he was a kid, before I was even thought of, he loved Monsters, Inc! It was his favourite movie.

Up until a few days ago, I'd never seen it. I don't think I ever had it on DVD. I always thought the movie looked interesting but I'd never gotten around to watching it.

Then I watched it, and now it's one of my favourite movies!

We're so similar even 12 years apart.

(Also, fun fact, my brother is the same age as Boo! He had just turned 3 when Monsters, Inc. came out, and Boo is 2 years old in the movie, meaning they'd only be a few months apart in age.)

Do you think Pixar will make live-action remakes one day?

God, can you imagine a Finding Nemo remake? An A Bug's Life remake? Those would be horrifying.

Well, I hope they never do!

I've been told a few times that I type like a millennial and I have the humour of one...

I'm a Gen Z. Some people would consider me a Gen Alpha even!

This might just be my Pixar-infested brain, but she kinda looks like Bullseye!

She also reminds me of Camel with the Wrinkly Knees. And that's very fitting, because he's taken in by Raggedy Ann, who Ragatha is based off of!

Trope that needs to die: female animal characters having blue eyes and (sometimes) white fur/skin

I feel bad including Faline, Duchess and Nala here since I love those films and I do live their character designs but they still fit this trope so I had to include them.

This trope happening so much has really unfortunate implications since it’s basically associating light hair/skin and blue eyes with attractiveness….

Although I agree with the rest of this, Simba and Nala have almost the exact same skin tone:

Most of these movies I haven't watched in years, but I'm pretty sure Marie has white fur because it's a more 'clean' colour. Like, if even a speck of dirt gets on white fur, it's really obvious compared to brown, ginger, black, etc. So her having white fur shows that she's clean and more regal in a way.

The other 3... I have no idea. They have no actual reason to have lighter skin.

And there's not really any way to defend the blue eyes thing, because blue eyes hardly even exist in nature!

10% of deer have blue eyes.

3-5% of cats have blue eyes.

Obviously there's no statistic for dragons, and I tried to find a statistic for komodo dragons, but couldn't find anything. 😭

The only reason I can think of as to why these characters might have blue eyes is to make them more distinguishable from the other characters, but none of them really look alike anyway. But you can see how little kids would get characters like Bambi and Faline mixed up without some major difference.

I have this great idea to collect Disney/Pixar pins and keep them on my school blazer.

I'll be able to show off my interests and feel more connected to them...

And, the truth is, if something else were my special interest (like TADC as an example? Although I do like it), I wouldn't wear pins of it. School is so judgy that I would feel uncomfortable wearing pins of most other things because people would laugh.

But, in my case, nobody is going to laugh. Because everyone likes Disney. It's such a common interest people have that it's not seen as weird to have Disney-branded things.

I'm the luckiest girl alive.

My school's musical this year is Oliver!

I found out yesterday and I'm super excited. Auditions are on Monday, and I'm going for the Artful Dodger.

Hopefully I get the part, I think only one other person is auditioning for him but she's extremely feminine compared to me so I'm praying I'm more fit for the role? 🙏
