Seriously, library cards are a one-time fee at best, and a lot of libraries are moving away from late-fees. Many rent audio books, dvds and blue-rays, and some even rent video games. Plus you can meet people and get involved in programs and events.

And that's not including online stuff.

my cat hates taking his pills. the only way we can get him to eat them is to turn it into an elaborate pantomime - we take the packet out of the cupboard slowly and hold it up, saying “oh!! what’s this? what’s this? a TREAT? a TREAT for louis????” while making surprised faces. we offer him a pill… then, before he has a chance to sniff it, we wag our fingers at him and replace it in the packet so it becomes a Tantalising Forbidden Mystery. we continue doing this until he’s so confused and excited that he will eat the pill as fast as possible, just so he can find out what it is before we can take it away from him again. as soon as he’s eaten it he looks utterly disappointed and betrayed, like a child who just ate a delicious sweet only to find it was a chocolate-coated brussels sprout. it never gets old

Okay, so Firebreak by Nicole Kornher-Stace is hard to describe in a short amount of space, but if you are at all interested in rebels, conspiracies, VR games, breaking-free-from-corporate-monopolies, or honestly just a riveting story with amazing characters, then you should probably check out this review and book. Also, for those looking for some more representation, the main protagonist is aromantic/asexual, as confirmed by the author! And bonus–it’s being released to the wild today, May 4th!

Nobody knows what the author’s gonna do, least of all the author.

When there’s an author loose in a word processor, ya gotta stay updated, so all day long you refresh AO3 going, “what’d the author do today?” The updates aren’t bad, sometimes they’re just odd. It’ll be like, “the author uploaded a 50k one shot they wrote in one night?” I didn’t know people who slept could do that.

There are quiet days where people are like, “it seems like the author has gone to bed and taken some time for self care,” and then ten seconds later the author is like, “I’M GONNA POST EVERY WIP I CAME UP WITH IN THE LAST FOUR MONTHS. I’VE GOT INSOMNIA AND WRITER’S BLOCK, I’M AN AUTHOR!” That’s what I thought you’d say you fucking brilliant author! ❤️😭❤️
