I actually recommend everyone write for a rarepair once because it completely changes your relationship with fandom. Engagement stops being numbers and starts being names. You know who's going to show up. You recognize usernames. Someone disappears for a while and then comes back and you're like “OH MY GOD WELCOME HOME.” It's incredibly wholesome. It is also deeply inconvenient when all six of you simultaneously get writer's block-

It has been truly baffling the way Odyssey discourse has overrun this hell site and my ask box, I’ve had to filter through messages that can basically be summed up with:

Like my b that the hell site that constantly complains that movies hand hold the audience and treat them like they’re stupid by explicitly explaining things sees a movie that checks notes trusts the audience and treats them like they’re smart enough to connect the dots, only to literally prove studio heads true and give the most bizarre takes.

wdym the entire movie is ruined you because (1) specific scene was taken out, despite the meaning of that scene being played out in several ways.

wdym you don’t believe Odysseus was clever despite showing this repeatedly. did you need him to look directly into the camera and say “aha I am now being clever, watch this”

Nolan’s The Odyssey is a fascinating adaptation that has such a clear vision of not only what it wants to be but also executed that vision so well that it’s SO evident what he wanted it to be. not liking it is fine but the way people seem to intentionally misunderstand the point is?????? concerning to say the least.
