Introduction Time!!
Hello! I'm planning to post somewhat regularly now that I am (back) in school, so I figured it may be a good time to introduce myself.
You can call me Pen, though my profile does say Mollusk. That works, too--it's only the internet haha. You can think of me exclusively as my blog handle if you'd like; I'm not picky at all.
I am going back to college for the fourth time this year. I have dropped out three times, but I'm back now and I'm ready to actually commit to it and work hard!! I'm attending a community college while working full-time at 30 hrs/wk, and my major is Anthropology!!
I also really love languages, so I will be incorporating that as much as I can into my academic career, maybe even going into linguistics...??? My current plan is to get my 2-year AA degree and transfer to another institution for BA studies, somewhere out of state.
I'm taking four classes, a general requirement and three major exploratory courses. Two of them are in-person, and two of them are online.
ENGL 2010 (or, as I like to call it: English 2)
ANTH - Human Origins (aka Biological Anthropology)
ANTH - Intro to Cultural Anthropology
LING - Intro to Linguistics
So I'll get to explore 3 of the 4 fields of Anthropology and finally knock out that pesky writing requirement, while getting it done first so my writing for future classes can be decent.
Despite my weak academic record and my abominable GPA, I am ferociously motivated and obsessively ambitious about school and I'm looking forward to turning my academic history around and achieving my goals.
I don't have a goal or idea of how often I will post here since I'll be focusing on the actual work more, but I do think it could be an advantage to document my progress and I hope that I could even inspire others who also enjoy learning. So you may see me 1-5x a week, possibly.
Anyway, that's me! I'm so excited for this upcoming year!!
