I have yeeted the mirror that was on your wall
and which you were probably hoping to shave with
Forgive me it is a foul bauble of man’s vanity
Hello. My name is Count D’racula Dementia Vampyr Way. I have long white teeth (that’s how I got my name) and a long white moustache with white streaks that reaches my mid back and red eyes like limpid blood and a lot of people tell me I look like my predecessor Dracula (if you don’t know who he is get da hell out of here!!) I’m not related to Attila but I wish I was cause he’s a major fucking hottie. I’m a vampire and my teeth are long and white. I have pale white skin. I’m also a Count, and I live in a creepy castle in Transylvania where I’ve been for quite some time (I’m an age.) I’m a Goth (in case you couldn’t tell) and the blood of every conqueror ever flows through my veins. I’m also a goth (in case you couldn’t tell) and I wear mostly black. For example today I was wearing a black shirt, black trousers, a black cape, and black mid-thigh boots. I was wearing no makeup. I was walking around inside my castle. It was nighttime which I was very happy about. An English lawyer stared at me. I threw his shaving mirror out the window.

Today in Dracula, Jonathan Harker faces his biggest fear yet, Catholics maybe being right
I think the text of Dracula is greatly elevated by delivering it to us over email in this way, solely and exclusively for the implication that Jonathan Harker, upon realising that he has been trapped alone in the house of some kind of supernatural being, reacts not by using his computer to reach out for help but by telling all of his besties about it like “Is this weird? this is weird right? It’s my first assignment at this entry level job and I just can’t tell”
May 8 - Our mutual friend Jonathan experiences a panic attack

I emerge from Parts Unknown to find my favorite book is a top trending topic. Oh, bless and keep you, Tumblr.
I like to follow the advice Jean-Jacques Rousseau was given before he entered an essay-writing contest. The subject was, "Has the progress of science and the arts contributed to corrupting morals, or improving them?" ... The advice given to Rousseau was, "take the side that no one else will." Rousseau did, and he won first prize. That's the sort of thing an illustrator must do: the unexpected, the contrary--the original, when you come down to it. It's the only way to do art that justifies its name.

One day America will be as beautiful in actuality as it is in Cooper. Not yet, however. When the factories have fallen down again.

What then is Moby Dick? He is the deepest blood-being of the white race; he is our deepest blood-nature.

It was published posthumously and was, on delivery, as dead as its author.
John Sutherland on G. H. Lewes's Problems of Life and Mind
George Eliot lived the years of her great creativity under the shadow of her consort (she called him 'husband'), G. H. Lewes. Posterity has cast Lewes, with ever-deepening obscurity, in her shadow. But their lives, and achievements, are intertwined. And, little read as he is nowadays, he deserves an honoured niche in the history of fiction--not merely as a helper of genius, but as an innovator.
