May is here!!!! This is just another May spread I found from one of my friend.
current desk situation.Ā
I think next thursday is gonna be the best day of my entire life tbh
reblog for next thursday to be the best day of your life
I REALLY NEED THIS PLEASEĀ
This time last year I was unemployed, broke, and suicidal.
Today, I just got the keys to my first house.
Give it time.
Needed this today
when you hear people preach that it gets better, they arenāt joking. if itās not better yet, it will be.Ā
this post could literally be saving lives rn and that is why i love this website.
To anyone out there who is struggling, you can get through this. Believe in yourself.
This goes to all students who were the best, or one of the best in their class until they started high school and became average and never got those grades back, but their parents still have the highest expectations. I know how you feel. You are enough and I know you are doing your best. Keep up the good work.

do older generations not get fatalistic humor?? like the other day my friendās parents were hanging around and we were joking and i was likeĀ āwell no matter what i can always fling myself off the nearest cliffā and they didnāt laugh then later the mom pulled me aside and was likeĀ āmaybe you should get some help, sweetieā like stfu?? help? in this economy? i donāt think so, debra
I honestly donāt think they get it as a coping mechanism, they think itās a cry for help rather than actually helping.
iād even say itās past just coping and is also now a category of Stuff Kids Got Used To When No One Was Looking; not everyone using that humor is even covering up something bigger, we just stopped thinking fatalistic = taboo/unspeakable somewhere along the line, and most parents donāt seem to know why or how ~
My boss opened a door and missed me by inches, he said āwhoops, almost killed you there!ā My result of āOh, if only.ā Led to an awkward end of shift debrief.
This generation shares the same humor as the goddamn Addams Family and the previous generation is the White Sixties Family⢠that lives next door and runs away screaming at the end of the episode
I will say that itās interesting because this kind of humor is very, very prevalent somewhere elseā¦
the military.
Which is honestly a place you would expect fatalistic humor to be common and used as a coping method. Youāre one āoopsā away from death on the flight deck, one inch to the left and you donāt have a head anymore because the jet that just landed now owns it as a wing-tip decoration. So you joke about it because lowkey youāre fucking terrified itāll happen, but youāre also desensitized to the danger itself because you face it every single day for 12 hours at a time.
Anyway so we all know the mindset you adopt in the military because of the danger, so to realise that an identical sense of humor has been adopted by normal people should probably tell you something very important about the amount of stress modern young folks experience in daily life.
That last one⦠itās true
It was also common in previous generations that had to deal with say, war and economic depression on a massive scale.
One of my favorite movies is Singing In The Rain which came in out 1952, right on the tailcoat of two world wars and a looming cold one, and for all itās a cheery happy musical, itās got this really bleak witty humor too, things likeĀ ācall me a cab!ā āokay, youāre a cab!ā or the scene where Don says heāll be homeless by the next day and Cosmo cheerfully tells him not to be ridiculousā¦the bank bailiffs donāt open till Monday.
And then quite probably one of my favorite opening lines, where two young girls are watching Lina on screen and one saysĀ āSheās so refined. I think Iāll kill myself.ā
Which really resonates with a lot of the things we say now when talking about people we find personally attractive, meaning not only is fatalism not a new trend, but those two girls at the starting sequence of Singing In The Rain are totally there for Lina, not Don.Ā
Youāre welcome.
That kind of humour is also really common in geographical areas that have been poor for a long time. Iāve personally seen it in people from the East coast of Canada, Appalachian Mountains, the north of the Philippines, and the high North of Canada. Iāve seen inner city humour in fiction thatās wildly dark, and from the areas around New Orleans. Oh and russian humour is dark on another LEVEL.Ā Not everywhere thatās poor, no. But you get a long tradition of knowing you all live one bad day from death and disaster, and some people turn to joking about it.Ā
Extended essay topic right hereĀ
Iām afraid Iām starting to take my IB exams this month end. Iām crying because I think Iām going to fail
19-9-15 taking economics notesā¦..a tonnes of articles still left
Ā from a professional anxious student
BEFORE
Prepare yourself. This may seem obvious, but itās the best you can do. If youāre well prepared, youāll be a lot less stressed (or not stressed at all!) and your inicial anxiety will dissipate as soon as you start answering questions!Ā
āWhat is difficult today, may seem much easier tomorrow.ā Be patient with yourself and donāt freak out if you donāt learn everything the second you start studying it. Donāt give up and youāll eventually get the hang of it!
Get confident! With a negative mindselt, youāre digging your own grave.Who says you canāt do it? Go to that test thinking that youāre gonna ace it!
Go to bed early. Ā
Review notes right before the test. This one helps me a lot because I know the information is, once again, fresh.Ā
Make sure you have all the material you need. Make a list the night before so youāll be sure you wonāt forget anything.Ā
The basics: pencil, erasers, pens, water bottle
Show up early.Ā
DURING
First thing: write down the main points on your paper.Ā Formulas? Key words? Write it down.
Calm down. Close your eyes and take deep breaths.Ā
Air in for four seconds
hold it for seven seconds
let go for eight.Ā
Do this at least five times.Ā
Canāt do it? Next question.
āI canāt remember anythingā Yes, you can, you just need to calm down. Anxiety is confusing your thoughts and making you think about the worst case scenario.
Start by quick and easy questions, this will make you more confident and also more secure.Ā
Donāt panic if you think a question is too hard. Read the easy ones again, this may help you get the information you need.
Donāt leave blank answers!! You never know if yourĀ ābullshit answerā is not the right one. Been there, done that.
Focus on the test. I canāt stress this enough. Pay attention to what youāre doing right now. Donāt start making assumptions about your grade, donāt start thinking that youāre going to fail. Donāt even think about the last/next question.Ā
If you have time, review your answers.Ā
Spare at least twenty minutes to copy your answers to the answer sheet.Ā
Hand in your test like youāreĀ conquering a kingdom.Ā
AFTER
Again, calm down. If you need to, repeat the same breathing exercise.
Discussing answers can be a russian roulette. If you get matching answers, it will be a relief, if you donāt, itās only gonna make you more stressed. See whatās best for you.Ā
If you think that you had a bad grade because you have severalĀ āwrongā answers, remember that your classmates donāt always have the right answers.Ā I have been in situations in which I thought I got Ā the wrong answer, but ended up being the only one who got it right.Ā
REMINDERS
If you do fail, itās not the end of the world. Focus on your weak spots and try harder next time. Failure is part of the road to success.Ā
Drink water, eat well, rest. Treat your body well.
Donāt forget to write your name. Seriously.Ā
Perspective is the key: focus on the bigger picture.Ā
Okay so youāre SURE youāre going to fail your chem test, but you had great grades so far. Whatās the big deal? Yeah, you have one bad grade, so that means itās a lot easier to bring it up again.Ā
If you need, get help. This may be from your parents, your school principal, your teacher, your psychologist, whatever. Sometimes, anxiety gets too strong and you may need theĀ assistance of a professional.

What is this? Original content? Sorry I havenāt posted much original stuff lately, after exams I sort of forgot. I did try to post this earlier, though (twice, in fact) but it didnāt seem to work? ą¹ĢÆĶ”ą¹Ā Third timeās the charm, I hope.Ā
Anyways, Iām back, and Iāve got mildiners and Chinese work with me! Iām trying to stay productive by learning a new language (which I currently suck at, but then again, thatās what practice is for). Wish me luck?

Just to start out just because Iām not doing extreme posting doesnāt mean that I donāt appreciate the fact that youāre following me. Honestly you guys are the best. Here its like 11:30 at bight Iām tired but @incessantswan PMed me and said that I should do it and I canāt let down a friend so here I am typing away on my Kindle Fire delivering you a list of my followers because you deserve it. :)Ā
I think I got all the inappropriate blogs out of this list but if you find one let me know ASAP. Again there are blogs that post appropriate content and, to my judgement, are run by real people so check them out. Iāve always wanted to be that person that created mutuals that didnāt even know the other existed before this post. Anyway enjoy!
