It’s hard to write drarry because on the one had, as a fic writer you want to be careful not to go overboard, especially with a noncanon ship, and to develop the relationship gradually and naturally. But you also want to be faithful to canon. And canon is just so outrageously over the top when it comes to these two.

The time in book 2 when Lucius gets annoyed with Draco because he has spent the entire summer talking about Harry Potter and his scar and his broomstick.

The time in book 2 when Draco didn’t notice the snitch was next to his face because he was looking at Harry (and Harry only sees it because he’s turning around to glare at Draco).

The time in book 4 at the Quidditch World Cup when Harry, Ron, and Hermione got into an argument with Draco while running away from Death Eaters, and Harry takes time to notice that Draco’s eyes are glittering. Even though he should have other things on his mind and the lighting is poor.

The time in book 5 when Harry described the rest of the Slytherin Quidditch team in unflattering terms, but noticed how Draco’s hair was gleaming in the sunlight.

The time in book 5 when Harry and Draco were making faces at each other during their O.W.L. Charms practical, and Draco got so distracted he smashed a wine glass.

The time in book six when in the middle of having a very heated altercation in Madam Malkins Harry noticed that the robes Draco was trying on looked handsome.

The time in book 6 when Harry immediately noticed that Draco had a new traveling cloak because apparently he keeps track of all his clothing.

The time in book 6 when Harry got so distracted by Draco changing into his robes that he got hit in the face by Goyle’s luggage.

The approximately 88990808 times Harry notices Draco’s hair/eyes/skin/voice/facial features

And those are just the most extreme, over the top, if-this-was-in fic-it-might-be-A-Bit-Much moments

Snape not only deflects McGonagall’s attack but uses it to take down Alecto and Amycus in a single armwave behind his visual field. Like they both had their wands out too but BOY they did not see that coming. Snape knew that he needed to get rid of them before being driven out of the castle so that they wouldn’t harm any of the students GOD what a badass motherfucker

I think everyone’s been so focused on hating/defending Snape, that we forget just what a motherfucking GENIUS he was (which honestly explains most of his whole attitude). The man literally rewrote the best textbook on potion making written in over a century WHEN HE WAS FUCKING 16 YEARS OLD.

Could you imagine going to your AP Chem teacher when you were in 10th grade and going “nah man, your way is ok I guess but there’s like 5 other ways to perform this titration faster and more accurately.” Because that’s pretty much what he did with the notes in HBP.

So it should be no surprise that someone of that level of intellect, who was bullied and harassed from the time their ability presented, would be a goddamn MASTER in duel-combat. You can bet your ass he’d studied that almost more than anything else. He was a master Occlumens (mental self defense and evasion), a master of Potions, a master of any and all forms of strategy, defense, combat, etc, BECAUSE HE FELT LIKE HE HAD TO BE JUST TO STAY SAFE. Why else would a flaming 16 year old come up with something like Sectumsempra? It’s def not a Potion! It’s a self defense spell of last resort. It’s fucking LETHAL. So we can assume he was heavy into combat spells and practice by that point, and given his intellect, would have had virtually unrestricted access to any books on any subject he wanted.

Love him or hate him, Snape was one HELL of a beautifully complex character, with just enough spelled out to keep us filling in the blanks for years.

You know, I’m not much of a Malfoy fan, but I do think in a lot of ways, he did have a redemption arc. It just wasn’t a like Zuko level one.

Malfoys not a main antagonistic, he’s just a school bully, who learned hatred and self importance at home.

The interesting thing, to me, about the Malfoys as a family is the fact that they like, you know, actually generally love each other. Narcissa Malfoy, who’s family is in disgrace, lies to Voldemort’s face about Harry being dead, and we get references later on to the Malfoys ignoring the battle to find Draco, and later sitting together in the aftermath. I know popular theories suggest that Lucius was abusive, but unless you think spewing nazi rhetoric at home is abusive (a debatable position), I tend to not thing so. If for no other reason then Nacrissa’s proven ability to go up against all sorts of shit to protect her son.

Malfoy was indoctrinated into shit at a young age, grew up a true believer. But he also never really saw the error of his philosophy (something I would compare to Snape) just the error of being a fucking Death Eater.

The story ends with him seventeen, with his family together, with them not having ‘really’ fought in the last part of that final battle and with Narcissa having preformed great aid to our heroes.

It isn’t at all strange that Draco Malfoy will never be best friends with Harry and company. There is a lot of bad stuff there, and apparently Malfoy married a woman from a nice pureblood family.

But he nods to Harry and Ron and Hermione at King’s Cross because he grew up, he knows he was wrong, and he knows that they might not be his friends, but they certainly aren’t his enemies.

And every year for his birthday Sirius would buy him a few of every type of sweet the Honeydukes has, and buying practically everything in the shop when he got his letter.

When he gets on the Quidditch team he buys him the best broom at the current time, but first pretends to give him his old broom that he bought him when he was one that only hovers a few inches from the ground, then hands him his Firebolt 35 while laughing. Then when he finds out that James has a crush he sends him a howler and fifth year James being confused because “oh crap what did I do” and then he opens it and it starts screaming “JAMES SIRIUS POTTER HOW DARE YOU NOT TELL ME YOU FANCY A GIRL! I THOUGHT WE WERE FRIENDS! I FOUND OUT FROM YOUR MOTHER! I AM HURT THAT YOU TOLD HER BEFORE ME! I AM SHUNNING YOU! NEVER SPEAKING TO YOU AGAIN!” And then a second owl dropping off a sack of sweets with another Howler. “BUT OBVIOUSLY I WILL STILL BUY YOU HALF ON THE LOLLIES IN HONEYDUKES BECAUSE I HAVE DONE THAT EVERY BIRTHDAY FOR YOU AND IT WILL NOT STOP JUST BECAUSE YOU WERE BEING A JERK AND NEGLECTING TO TELL ME THESE IMPORTANT THINGS THAT ARE CRUCIAL TO MY HEALTH. Oh, and your parents and siblings told me to say they love you and happy birthday. This reminds me of how a friend of mine was abused by the mother of his child. She was mentally unstable and used to berate him constantly and would smack him in the head all the time. It really pissed me off. Then one night she threw hot coffee in his face and tried to stab him with a screwdriver. The cops hauled him off to jail because she made up a sob story that painted herself as the victim. Once he left her, he stayed with me and it was a nightmare. She stalked him and me. She would drive by my house obsessively at all hours of the day and night (her muffler made a weird sound so I know it was her). She started showing up at my job, showing up at the places I frequented around town, and filling up my voicemail with dead air. The cops were no help. One day she got bold enough to talk her way into my home by conning my elderly grandmother, whom I was taking care of, while I was out. She went in my room and went through my stuff (creepy), then found him napping on the couch and attacked him. My grandmother witnessed the whole thing. He grabbed her by the arms, forced her out the front door, and locked it. The cops were called again. They said they’d go and ‘talk’ to her.

The next day we were watching a movie and there was a knock at the door. The police had come to arrest him. She filed a complaint against him and shown off some bruises on her arms from the altercation that she swore were completely unprovoked. My grandmother saw the whole thing since she was in the living room too and testified on his behalf. He still ended up serving jail time. No one takes male domestic violence victims seriously. They only see males as perpetrators.

This is really not okay.

I think some people fail to realize that men can be sexually assaulted, too, and not just by other men. This girl shoves him against the wall and slaps him three fucking times when he pushes her away. Heck, he has to push her away twice before she backs off for a moment. Then she goes right back to kissing him.

If the genders were reversed, everyone on this site would be flipping a shit. And if anyone dares to tell me that it’s different when a girl does it to a guy, I will personally write you a three-page essay on why it is still not okay.
