Adidas Boost - Paris

Product review on Adidas Boost Running Shoes
Today is the launch of the new Adidas Boost running trainers in the UK, I got to test trial them out on Saturday at work and decided to write a review on them.
Adidas has launched their new energy boosting running trainer that claims to provide you with energy by storing energy you put in and releasing it so you can get the most out of your run.
Honestly, I’ve seen the hype about them because of the advertising. I actually own a pair of Adidas running trainers, the Adizero Tempo. Personally, I love the ADIPRENE™ arch support in the arch, it is much more comfortable and reduces the impact in comparison to other famous running brands’ transverse arch support such as the Asics’ Gel technology
Instead, the Boost has TORISON® SYSTEM arch support which did feel similar to my regular running shoes which was good. The major feature of these shoes is the BOOST™ technology cushioning in the sole which consists of 1000 energy capsules to store and release energy.
When I first put them on, I didn’t find it 100% comfortable - they felt rigid on the upper mesh layer and forefoot due to the design, although I could just need to break them in over time. However, I’ll give it to Adidas, when I started to run in them they did feel cushioned and provides a more dynamic bounce when running which is ideal for long distances to reduce fatigue and could possibly improve performance like they claim by providing ‘endless energy’. I found them to be lightweight which was good as I didn’t feel weighed down and it had adequate support, although I would have preferred more support in the heel.
If you are someone who prefers Asics or Brooks, which is known for having a lot of cushioning in the mesh and support in the design, then it probably wouldn’t be your first choice. However if you prefer the lightweight feel as long as your running trainer has the durability, then I would recommend it. Overall, I’d give it a 7/10.
This Adidas Boost running trainer is a mild support shoe so it is appropriate for neutral and mild overpronation runners and costs £110
ADIDAS ENERGY BOOST REVIEW
We did a 1 mile Boost test run at work a month and a half ago, and the cushion and springiness felt amazing. At the time, my toe was still in a lot of pain and it was hard to accurately describe how it really felt in the shoe.
Usually I wear shoes with a bit of stability to them, and the Boost is a neutral shoe, so I doubted I’d get it. At work a week or two ago, I tried running in some neutral shoes with the inserts that I wear in my Inspire’s and other shoes, and it gave me a more neutral gait! It made me really happy to see that my legs and feet are becoming more efficient.
And then…the teal color came out. Thats when I really thought about getting the Boost. I never buy shoes for color (the exception being the orange Inspire, but thats already my favorite shoe).
Today was my first real run in them, and the only issue I had in them was the insert is slightly too small. So there was some friction between my sock, the midsole, and the insert that caused a blister on the ball of my foot. It didn’t hurt or bother me, but it was noticeable, and I didn’t realize there was a blister til later. Easy fix.
Other than that, it didn’t cause my toe to hurt which was GREAT. What I was really watching out for was if it was going to cause my shins to hurt. No matter what shoe I test out on the treadmill at work, my shins hurt, but outdoors I am fine, most of the time.
So far I’m really liking it. Possibly wearing it for the 10 miler this weekend.
