At this rate, judging just by his hand, he was going to lose. If he weren’t a better man, he would cheat his way to victory, but alas, taking a chance with Lady Luck sounded good in the beginning. Again, he exchanged a single card, only to make his hand worse. God. The general placed an unlit cigarette in between his lips, using it as something to prevent him from losing his composure. He never bit down on the tobacco, as that would give away his situation.
Cross lowered his hand, resting his arm on the edge of the table, not revealing the cards in his possession, but rather moving them out of sight over the edge. “But of course; it’s the only thing us exorcists can be affiliated with, yes?” Although… something fishy was brewing, considering the Cardinal, a high-ranking official just under the Pope in the Vatican, had shot him — in the face, nonetheless — as if he were intentionally sending him to this weird ass city. “Just how does the system in your world work?” The priest doubted that she could be a general, based on the fact that she had no Innocence. The fiery woman could be a wonderful Accommodator if they were back at the Order, however.
The man glanced down at the table where the bet had been placed at the sound of her throwing the chips down, increasing the bet yet again. It made him slightly nervous; which meant she was confident her hand was a winning one. But he wouldn’t let it reveal his position in the game. The clatter of several more chips echoed on the table, with him glancing back at her straight in the eyes. Just by taking that quick look, Cross could tell that they had quite a bit more in common than he originally thought.
Composure, Shura sure had a lot of confidence pouring out with her sassy looks being tossed over to her opponent. She couldn't help but enjoy a good win, especially when it mean't one uping someone who she inevitably would label as enemy. So many questions lingered within the back of her throat, but she'd have to hold them back. Pulling them out when they were best meant for.
Nodding, she'd impart on giving as little info as she could. The Vatican in her world hadn't been very illuminating when it came to things. If anything, there were too many occasions where she questioned their actions. A bunch of old men hiding behind the powers of others. Wanting to do away with anything that seemed faintly a threat. At the same time, this place was no different. Upon her student revealing his demonic entity to the Vatican in Citta. They now pursue him day in and day out. It was hard keeping that kid out of trouble.
"In ma world." She began, going all in now. To emphasize on the words she was about to speak, "Demons 'ive throughout tha land. 'Nd s'our job to keep them fer gettin any further with humans. We 'ave churches, chapels, students we teach. Demons we fight in our place. Us exorcists are 'ere ta stop tha demons from destoryin' the balance between heaven, earth, 'nd 'ell."

It was interesting; doubling the bet that had been originally put down. To make it even more interesting, the general placed down half of what was there now, the bet now having tripled the beginning. He then took another card from the deck, taking the undesired one out. Now his hand was worse than before. Wonderful.
“‘That so? I’ll have to visit sometime. You’d have to lead, of course.” There was no way he knew what time or place she came from, and even if she did come from Japan, then there was no telling what part she had been taken from.
"A small world?" A small chuckle left the man’s lips. "You’re saying you’re an exorcist as well?" The position of priest could only be given to men, after all. However, there were no signs of Innocence on this woman’s person. Were the qualifications of becoming an exorcist different in her world, or did she have such a thing as Innocence as well?
More and more, Cross’ hand was starting to look like a losing hand. He couldn’t risk cheating here, though; he could get caught. The priest relaxed his face, smiling just a bit with his eyes closed. He breathed another chuckle. “In all my years of being an exorcist, I’ve seen some shit that would make a grown man cry. Then again, I’m sure you’ve seen hell as well in your world. The life of an exorcist isn’t an easy one.” After all, he’d seen many die, and probably caused the deaths of a few himself. Fighting for God sure did have its downsides.
Shura would follow with her double'd ace. Now with a 2 in the public pile, double pairs just might get her a win. Not that she wouldn't feel inclined to buy the man a drink at this point. Raising her counterparts bet and placing a rather significant smile upon her face. She'd let her free hand cup her chin, leaning forward with much intent on learning more of the man before him.
"I am," As for how deep into the Vatican her position had been. Would continue to be a secret well kept by herself. Even if he had been from another world, she wasn't about to let information about herself play into the hands of strangers, "'nd that it is. I must say, ya affliated wit tha' Vatican 'ere?"
Throwing several chips into the pile as she stared directly at the other man. Getting a good look at his eyes seemed absolutely impossible. Which bothered shura slightly. It was easier to tell a man for who they were, just by glimpsing into his eyes. She felt as if he had many things to hide, and secrecy was both welcomed and hated by the Kunoichi.
❀ } a new home -- shura
it had been a while since the exorcist had been assigned her new room but, for some reason, the young girl just did not move out; be it her comfort within her prior apartment or her nerves in meeting and greeting new roommates. just the idea caused a chill to tickle down the girl’s back, ending with her teeth chattering. she decided it was definitely time to move considering the new occupant was moving in within the next few days. plus, her new apartment was in the sixth sector— next to her garden!!
so there she was, staring up at the door labeled “I-6;” her new apartment… hopefully the occupants were friendly!! she could always use more friends, that was a given since her current “best” friend didnt seem to appreciate her enthusiasm and cheer too much. with massive bags in hand, shiemi fuddled around with the key which was dangling from one of her fingers, attempting to unlock the door. with a “clank,” said key fell to the floor, issuing a defeated sigh from the tamer. with a soft ‘nii,’ her familiar attempted to slide down her arm to pick the perpetrator up. with a laugh, shiemi shook her head and set down her suitcases, filled with those infamous kimonos as well as a few gardening tools.
"I can do it, thank you nii-san!"
she then picked up the key, to which the little greenman perched upon her shoulder once again, eager to meet the new faces that dwelled within. shiemi gradually worked the key into the lock, holding it completely still with vivid green gaze completely fixated upon the knob. without a second thought, the girl ambitiously turned the key and opened the door, simply peeking her head around the frame. she then opened it completely, brought her suitcases in, and shut the door once again (not remembering to take the key out mind you).
"Hello…?? Is anyone here?"
The silence of her apartment was always a welcomed inference. No one lived in her apartment aside for her, at least that was what she could gather. The constant silence from her other apparent roomates had made her wonder if they even existed. Or if the scientists blessed her with her own apartment. 2 Rooms empty. Shura normally just slept where ever, lounged on the couch, on her bed, on one of the other empty room beds. It was her little safe haven.
of course because no one else lived there, the place inevitably became one big giant mess. Cans of beer would be discovered at every corner. The trash seemed to have been taken out--thank god for that. The dishes piled up in the sink. The refrigerator probably filled with expired products. She only took into account of cleaning when she felt like it, didn't help that her own room had been filled with files and paper work. A mess in itself, but she was a busy woman who indulged herself in the cities mysteries. Along with the Vatican of this era.
It would be a great surprise to her, as she walked through out the apartment. Wearing only her bra and underwear, so used to the quiet apartment that the sound of the door knob turning had caused her to grow alarm. Hiding in the shadows, knife in one hand. Of course, more surprisingly enough. The girl that entered in had only been Shiemi herself.
"Eh!" Shura pulled herself from out of the shadows. Still only in her underwear, "Yer kiddin' me. Ya been assigned over here then? Shiemiii~!!!"
The red haired woman collected her arms around the other, bringing her chest to the others face, "This means were roommates then!?"
"Oi, oi, don't mind the place. S'a bit messy. But oh man, come on in! Ye can have that room on the other side!" Shura had taken one of the end rooms. Wanting nothing to do with the middle one. She liked being right across the bathroom and kitchen. In a corner where it'd be hard for anyone to sneak up on her, "'Nd lil ol' Nii too."
" I-- ...you and I will never be alike, have fun with your fake happiness. "
…………..
That stung.
{ ✘✘ } It’s weak, but Revy’s ready to take whatever she can get without moving from her spot. Pulling the top open, she glanced over at the other. ❝Who are you, anyway?❞
"Names Shura. What 'bout you?" She takes a sip from her beer plopping herself on the nearest surface applicable for her bottom, "'Nd how long ya been in this 'ere mess?"
{ ✘✘ } ❝Yeah— Why? You got something?❞
Shura tosses the other a beer.
"If a can of beer can hit yer fancy, don't mind if a share the wealth."
{ ✘✘ } ❝I could go for a drink right about now.❞
"Did you say drink?"
"Ya haven’t been keepin’ me safe the entire time. Keep that bullshit ‘ta ‘yerself," he retorted, keeping his upright position while lowering and focusing his gaze. She could have very well been watching over him, which would be make logical sense. But considering the presence of the Vatican had lifted significantly, Rin couldn’t help but be skeptical - especially when factoring in her admitted drinking habit.
"S’long as ya ain’t dead. Would’ve been a shame ‘ta lose ya."
"oo, ya such a whiney kid as usual." Shura picks at her ear looking off the side. How daunting, Rin was back talking her now and calling her a liar. Kids these days ain't got no respect do they. The Kunoichi clicks her tongue and looks back over to him. With a rather lax look, "Look, a don't care if ye goin' go 'round fightin' people fer fun. But pick 'nd chose yer battles. Don't be n' idiot 'ike 'ast time."
✝a little bit of fun✝ [ca open]
Cross made a low chuckle. “The only thing threatening our existence is the terrible food some of these restaurants have.” The general smirked a little, reaching over to put down a card and picked another up from the deck. Ah, good. It wasn’t terrible.
"Ha, yeah." The general wasn’t that well known with slang, considering that he was from 1800s Europe, but he could deduce that this ‘Piss beer’ was just really terrible beer. Good thing he never drank it; just the thought of it seemed to make him gag. He chuckled again. "No, I mainly drink wine. There’s quite a lot of it back where I’m from." Just not a lot of his favorite expensive alcohol.
The next statement she made caught his attention. So it seems the woman had noticed his rosary, and brought up the topic as well. No matter, he was willing to speak of it when asked or mentioned. “Ah, yes. I am a priest and an exorcist, after all. The name, however? Not sure why it was given to me. Your name is pretty strange as well.”
Shura… The name sounded Japanese. Last he was in Japan, he revealed his pupil was a key player (quite literally) to the 14th. And that was a while ago. A long while ago.
Unfortunately for Shura the card pulled out wasn't so good for her, but she'd play the game. Raising the bet double of what the original base bet had been, "Ah, ye 'avent been ta my bar then. We on'y offer tha greatest shit. Won't tolerate anthin' else."
The man before her really had a defined taste of things he'd drink. Wine and scotch, things pricey but always made well to boot. There had been a quote that popped into her head in that moment. Of how men can be graded by what kind of drink they drank. If that was the case, the guy before her would be up there.
Judging further by his speech, and confidence being displayed with no qualms. Clearly, Cross would be a man to be reckon with. Interestingly enough, she'd find his statement to reel her in further, "Akeke, ya saying ye a Priest and exorcist? Well aint this a small world."
The next card gets played and things started to look better than they had before. Smiling to the other she tilts her head to the side. Taking a swig of her beer, "A wonder, what kind of hell you've seen?"

SIDE MISSION : birds
Nostalgia. Birds chirped , flocking to trees or even to the ground that had scraps of food left on the ground. Stahl had watched every feathery friend take off when he would approach , desperate to touch them or even feed them the scraps of food he hand left over. ” Janaff , I hope you’re doing just fine. ” The knight gave a small sigh , tossing the leftovers towards another group of birds . Maybe with his luck , Nowi and him would find Janaff or another animal to tend to. ” I hope they will enjoy the crumbs .. It’s making me hungry again just watching them eat. ” Stahl smiled lightly , stomach growling just enough for him and anyone nearby.
Shura had been minding herself, walking blissfully throughout the park. She enjoyed the place as it calmed her senses and had been the only place in citta to mediate in peace. Just as she passed a man who had been devoured in such heavy armor the man had growled at her.
"Did ye just growl at me?"
