I thought I'd write a post that goes into details about why archive locking your fics is important, because we usually just say it but don't tell why, and I'm sure there are people who are new in the fandom and don't know why it's such a big deal when shipping and fanfic writing/fanart drawing comes so naturally and is a fundamental part of fandom.
Real person fiction is a sensitive topic in itself because it's based on real people and not on fictional characters.
It's a basic rule of RPF fandom/fanfic to keep your story away from the person it's about. Why? Because if they find it, start reading it, and it makes them uncomfortable (or worse) and they talk about it somewhere publicly, all the fans who are not in these type of fandom spaces and don't know how they work will go after fanfic writers and abuse them for writing shipper fics, kinky fics and all the other things.
Also, think about whether you'd like to read a story about you being shipped with someone that's your friend or worse, someone you don't even like. And the two of you do things that are highly unrealistic, or even triggering to you in reality. It'd be better if you didn't even know about the existence of such fic, right? Right.
Fanfic is part of the fandom, shipping comes with the job as people often say, just like “they know about fanfic/shipping, it's not that deep” but them knowing that it exists and them actually being asked to read fanfic and then say they'll read more are very very different things. Because they can very easily find disturbing things about themselves, which can lead to what I said above, talking publicly about it (and maybe even asking people to stop writing fanfics about them) and then people who in general wouldn't be there would start invading fandom spaces, and shipping/fanfics would get way more publicity than they need. And remember, most of the drivers are in heterosexual relationships, and most fanfics portray them with other guys. Not a lot of straight guys would find this okay if it was about them.
You don't want your favorite driver to read fanfics about them. You really don't. So please archive lock your fics before it's too late and a social media admin shows it to the drivers because they don't have better things to do.
Shipping and fanfic writing/shipper fanart drawing is for the fandom, not for the people it's about. Please protect it and only post shipper content on social medias/websites the drivers aren't publicly on, and lock your posts everywhere it's possible.
And it'd be great if fanartists could stop posting actually shipper fanart on Instagram and TikTok and choose a better place for it like Tumblr and Ao3. Just because one person started it it doesn't mean it's okay to continue. Please protect the shipper community and don't try to break the fourth wall.
Someone pls write lestappen, more specifically Charles getting depressed and being jealous (possessive?) as he sees Max battle it out time and time again with the number 16 car on track, but it being the wrong one aka it is not him who’s behind its wheels

There's something beautiful about Max standing on that podium in Abu Dhabi 2025, having won the race but lost the championship. He pushed to the limit with all his might and overcame a deficit never overcome before. It was so incredible but still not quite enough. Losing a championship by 2 points but winning the most races that season. Now watching it back, to see him taking it all in for one last time at the top, taking a mental picture, knowing what he can and can't do, what is in his control and what isn't and maybe what's coming down the line in the future and what isn't. There's winning in losing and losing in winning.

i feel like with the influx of new fans to formula 1 (myself included), the fact that many people have never played a sport or even watch other sports, and the stan twitterification of literally every fandom that the narratives people choose to bring into races, while fun, begin to take hold over people and they suddenly get this idea in their head that certain drivers are more deserving of wins and a championship based on arbitrary rules and expectations of behavior that have no basis in reality whatsoever.
let's be crystal freaking clear -- no one deserves a championship or a win. no one. you can earn a win. you can earn a champion. hell you can even fight for one of those things but no one deserves one. that is how sport works. especially in a sport like formula 1.
championships have been decided so far into the beginning of a season that the championship leader can coast for the rest of the season. championships have been decided by one singular point. championships have been decided by engines freaking blowing up.
teams are made up of a bunch of people in the garage who are deciding factors in a driver sinking or swimming. there's the car itself. your engineers. your strategists. rain. grass or gravel on the side of the track. so much luck is involved in this sport, its almost disgusting.
no one deserves anything in this sport, but you can take it if its presented to you for the taking.

Well… I couldn’t resist. I asked a good friend of mine who’s a psychologist to take a look at them, without knowing anything about who drew what. No names, no genders, no ages, no jobs, nothing. She doesn’t even follow F1, so she had like zero context about what it could mean to us (aka me, the Formula 1 freak 😂).
She did make it very clear that this isn’t something to take as 100% facts! Obviously, she can’t make a real psychological evaluation without actually knowing or working with the person.
Buuuut I still found it fascinating and quite, I don't know? Scarily accurate at times!? 😬🫢
I asked her to interpret Lando’s, Oscar’s, Max’s, and Charles’s drawings using the Karl Koch Tree Test, which is a projective psychological test.
(For those who don’t know: it’s a technique used in psychology where the way you draw a tree can reflect aspects of your personality, emotional state, and how you perceive yourself and the world around you. I’ve done it myself in therapy before, and it was shockingly accurate for understanding things I needed to work on about myself or accept.)
I honestly found some interesting similarities between her interpretations and how I’ve come to see each driver over the years.
I’ve been following F1 basically since I was a baby with my dad, so this was just too fun and I tough some of you might enjoy it too ☺️
To keep both our identities private, the ONLY thing I edited from her texts was our names in the messages below ok. And corrected some typos 'cause it was just two friends chatting through texts.

and it’s actually really expressive!
it gives a lot of insight into the emotional structure and how this person relates too the world. The first thing that stands out is the balance in it. The trunk is solid and centered (which usually reflects good internal stability, like you have a defined sense of self, even if you’re sensitive, you know?) It suggests you can stay grounded, even when emotions run deep.
The crown,all those soft, overlapping lines, shows an active inner world. Theres movement in thoughts, maybe even a bit of restlessness?? but in a way that shows awareness and emotional richness, not just like complete chaos lol
The heart in the middle of the crown is honestly the emotional core of the whole draw!! it tells that feelings and relationships are central to how that person process life. Its like they don’t separate emotions from reasoning, and accually think through what they feel. That’s not weakness ok babes its emotional intelligence and authenticity! I think super cool!
And the roots at the bottom!? They are soooo important. When people include visible roots, it often means they value connection and family and or a sense of belonging
like the emotions don’t just float around but they have depth and foundation. There is a desire for stability and meaning behind them.
Sooo overall it’s a drawing that speaks of someone emotionally deep, grounded, and intuitive. someone who needs to feel safe to fully express themselves, but who, once they do, has a very genuine, heartfelt presence.
[Then i asked her to point out some possible weakness]
Hummmm.okay.
So u know, the tree overall shows a really emotionally open and empathetic person but that same sensitivity can make the person more vulnerable to emotional overload. The crown with its overlapping lines and slightly chaotic motion, suggests a very active mind, maybe even overthinking or internal tension? Like itss like their thoughts and feelings are always in dialogue, which I mean I would obvs say is is great for awareness hahah, but tiring when you can’t switch it off...
The heart right in the middle is beautiful, but it also may show they tend to lead with emotion andThat can make this individual deeply compassionate, but also more prone to getting hurt or disappointed when others don’t respond with the same emotional depth. Sometimes people with this kind of symbol are overly selfgiving or idealistic in relationships.
The roots, while strong, might also show a bit of emotional dependence on familiar sources of safety ( like family, certain people, or routines) It’s not necessarily unhealthy, but it can make change or uncertainty harder to handle. They probabbly crave stability because it gives them the space to feel freely.
So the main challenges here aren’t weaknesses, they’re the other side of strengths. emotional intensity, high sensitivity, and a deep need for meaning and connection. With awareness, those same traits become resilience and empathy, Not fragility!
Alsooo just kind I noticed like the center now of thre and isn’t colored in and that’s actually quite meaningful. In projective drawings, the middle area (where the trunk meets the crown) represents the connection between emotional base (roots/trunk) and thoughts or imagination (crown).
When that space is left blank, it can suggest some kind of disconnection between how one feel and how one express it. It’s not necessarily negative okay? it often just means theres something being held back, or that the person in a process of figuring out how to integrate what is inside with what is show outwardly.
Sometimes it reflects emotional fatigue. like if your protecting yourself by not kind like filling in everything? Like leaving a neutral space where you can breathe. Other times, it can mean that certain feelings or areas of life feel undefined or hard to express right now.
It fits with the rest of the tree to be honest haha You’ve got emotional depth, sensitivity and idealism and structure. but that empty middle says they are probably learning how to connect all those parts without feeling overwhelmed all the time from every one and everything.It’s not avoidance,it’s more like... emotional pacing.

So this tree feels VERY different from the first one! It’s simpler and less defined, which already tells me a bit about the emotional tone behind it. The lines are loose, soft, and somewhat airy, suggesting a quieter or more introspective emotional state. There’s not a lot of detail ( no roots, no ground line, no texture) and that often reflects a person who keeps things to themselves or doesn’t feel completely grounded in the moment, you know?
The trunk (is it drawn in a brown almost purplecolor?) If so is so interesting, because purple/browish color isn’t a typical choice for a tree and symbolically, it maybe can reflect imagination, sensitivity, or even a sense of idealism.But it can also suggest emotional distance or a tendency to internalize feelings rather than express them outwardly, a very private person who may come off as cold to others.The fact that it’s narrow and long might hint at fragility, like if the person is trying to hold things together but feels a bit vulnerable inside.
The crown, that is made of overlapping circular lines, is soft but not very structured. That could mean the personthoughts or emotions feel a bit tangled or uncertain right now. And Theres movement but not much definition, almost like as if things are still being processed internally rather than clearly expressed or resolved at the moment.

so this third tree is a completely different energy again. It’s structured, strong, and calm. The lines are neat, confident, and continuous. It looks like someone who values control, stability, and order, no chaos, only planning, intention, and emotional containment (a lot).
The trunk is tall, solid, and shaded with long, vertical lines andthats classic for a personality that is grounded and very discipline!
This person probably likes predictability and relies on logic and structure to stay balanced. It gives a sense of resilience,,you know? someone who can handle responsibility, who holds things together.
The fact that it’s wide at the base shows a solid foundation about self-control, inner strength, and maturity...But if you look closely, theres almost no variation or softness in the trunk and that might hint at emotional restraint or a tendency to suppress vulnerability. It’s like saying, "I’ll stay strong no matter what happens" even when it’s heavy.
Soft and symmetrical crow, drawn with very light strokes. That light green is gentle and calm, it shows sensitivity, diplomacy, and kindness, but the uniform coloring could also mean the person prefers peace over confrontation. They don’t like chaos and probably avoid emotional drama whenever possible!

Okay this tree is really expressive ,you can feel the energy in it right away! (I loved it!)

Very creative, spontaneous and probably very sensitive to the environment around them (an artist maybe?)Theres a sense of openess here thats totally different from the structured or minimalist trees.
The crown is big and full, almost expanding beyond the trunk and that’s classic of someone who has a lot of ideas, imagination, and emotional expression. The swirling lines in multiple shades of green suggest mental energy and curiosity. The person tends to think broadly, maybe TOO broadly at times, and might struggle to slow down or quiet their thoughts.But it’s not chaotic ok the loops are fluid and organic, meaning their creativity is natural and not forced at all.
The trunk is long, narrow but consistent, made up of vertical lines that are firm yet slightly uneven. Thats a good balance. it shows stability and effort to stay centered, even when the mind is active.
The reddish brown color adds warmth and its emotional energy again, the kind of person who feels deeply and expresses it physically or passionately through work, art, music or even relationships.

This is why Lestappen is just heavenly. These two freaks adore racing each other, battling on track, going for the gap come hell or high water—there’s mutual respect between Max and Charles and that respect does not diminish even when they’re fighting for the win. Max and Charles’s relationship has been built on decades and these two understand each other in a way that is organic and natural. L*ndo and Oscar are teammates who’ve been forced to interact and do all these media/PR activities.
Max and Charles see one another across the paddock and immediately gravitate towards the other. They don’t have to, they’re not required to, they simply want to. Max and Charles choose each other, even after all their on track battles and the bitterness that comes with loss. And even after all that, they keep choosing each other.

nico: "i remember once we were jet skiing together i was on the back of him on the same jet ski. oh my god, i made, i had such a big shunt. i flew off in the biggest way. and then we went with two stand up jet skis, and i was watching him go off this giant wave from the ferry and he did not lift. he was- i'd never seen someone go so high airborne, and then he came crashing down and he knocked open his chin when he smacked down onto the jet ski as he landed. *laughs* just completely!"
crofty: "oh!"
nico, gleefully: "so hes lying there like half unconscious and i had to go and like check that hes okay, his chin was cut open. complete nut case."
crofty: "honestly you two, it a wonder you ever made it to formula one and settled down and concentrated."
and then crofty started immediately talking about the race restart leaving all of us viewers with A Whole Lot Of Questions. because. what the hell. what had possessed nico rosberg other than the usual insanity.
then nico also revealed that he has recurring nightmares still about not getting into the car in time for race starts in f1. and then he was back off to the sky italy box:
crofty: "nico rosberg we must let you go. thank you for coming to join us, this has been a fascinating hour, we've gone into territories i never thought we would. before you go though, little prediction ahead of the race. who do you think now, in these conditions, is looking the best placed?"
understatement of the year, thank you crofty.
nico: "umm...lando norris. he has the best car, hes on a high mentally also coming off the win in silverstone, great qualifying yesterday so, uh, the favorite is 100% lando norris but he has some amazing wet weather drivers right behind him. so anything can happen. thank you very much it was a pleasure. i am off to speak some italian now."
which of course cursed lando because as we all know, anyone who nico says is going to do well (aside from lewis) get somehow utterly fucked over in a race because he just has that power. and lando of course got passed by oscar on the opening lap then locked up and went off three times in the late stages so he couldnt close the gap enough to get oscar back. and lewis, who started form the pit lane ended up p7. nico rosberg strikes again.
