Terrify: A towering faceless monster just stands there with a job resume. They have no visible mouth but you hear heavy breathing.

U-Um…c-can I h-help you?

*She looked up at the monsters, visibly shaking at the sight of them. She was scared for sure, and she prayed they weren’t here for malevolent intent.*

The monster nods as Alphys stutters and sweats, yes, he was here to guard the lab. Seeing as the nearby knights were busy with an elevator, it left the building itself rather unguarded. And it didn’t take a psychic to figure out they weren’t exactly focused on the elevator either. When the short one told her he was hired, he didn’t exactly beam a radiant smile. But he did reach into his breast pocket and withdrew a stack of business cards, shuffling until he handed her one near the middle. The laminated paper said “Thank you” in some fancy font. Probably Helvetica. The fanciest of font types. He then handed her another card. “Hello. My name is Bludge.” This was… odd?

O-Oh, um, y-you’re welcome. A-And it’s a pleasure to meet you Bludge. I look forward to working with you in the future.

*She smiled a little, trying to think of what to do next. It probably would have been a good idea to shot him how to work and maintain the security system, since that would be his job now. But was he willing to start work straight away, or did he need time to prepare? Alphys had no idea what to do with employees.*

The monster nods, but his lack of a neck makes it a bit hard to read. So Bludge lifts a large arm and gives a thumbs up, so yes, he was ready to start straight away. He stands there for as long as it takes her to realize he meant to say yes. And if she doesn’t, he’ll hand her another card. And that reminds him, he should politely ask for the cards back at some point, if he needs to reuse an answer he’s already given. Luckily, he has a card that says exactly that. He could talk, technically, but he’s holding off on that. It would probably scare her.

He makes a coughing sound into his hand, but with no mouth, this is purely to get the attention of the goat. And not only can be cough without a mouth, but speak too. "Queen, correct? You are Queen Toriel?"

*”I’m afraid I am no longer the queen, and have not been for almost two hundred years. However, the second part is correct; I am indeed Toriel. To what can I owe this…circumstantial visit?”

The unidentified monster stares just long enough for it to be uncomfortable, and then repeats the pattern of gradually closing and opening his eye. The motes in the darkness have a green glint to them this time, and he puts his hands together, interlacing his fingers as he slightly bowed his head. “The… rrreasonsss, behind your transaction are of little matter, to any of us. The implicationsss… are, incalculable, as it is. I must admit, Miss Dreemurr, many of us in the department have come to… rrrespect this, initiative, to survive. There are a select number of pawns on the board, their accumu-lation is a regular occurrence, of course. But… it is measurably the same dif-ference, barring extraordinary circumstances. Tell me, by what circumstance have you gained this, privileged sight? The lack of soul itself is, of little importance.”

*”…It was a curse. I don’t know who, or what they were, but… some creature did this to me. They were… they were hard to describe. They were gray, amorphous… grotesque. They placed a curse on me giving me sight beyond time… for a single week. After that week would end, I would lose not only the sight, but more memories than I had gained during that time.”

If he had a mouth, one could swear there was the ghost of a smirk where a normal creature would have theirs. "Gray-Zoners are a noted... Pestilence, to say the least. They are the sssickly residue of existence. Impossible to avoid, they stalk the void between realities. This does explain your sssight, and given the situational hazards, we offer a... Protective Service, until this time expires." His fluctuating voice holds on mention of the service, as if to say, being monitored or not was a Hobson's Choice. "So, to avoid this loss, you merged with... An instigator, of sorts. Is this correct? Do remember Miss Dreemurr, I can see clearly."

That… is an agreeable trait, Miss…Toriel.” He puts an unusual strain on a few syllables, and there are unnatural pauses in his speech pattern. “I am not at, liberty, to name my superiors as of yet. I am sure a lonely - and busy - woman, such as yourself can… understand. Especially in these, troubling times.” The eye blinks, and in the split second it is closed, shining motes of light can be seen in the shadows, achingly similar in appearance to the stars above the surface. “We have imposed lllimitations, at the, bureau. You may not be fully aware of these, but… you have made a deal, in recent time. I am sure you know exactly, what deal I speak of. It has… piqued the notice of my superiors. It is worrying.”

*”…So that’s your reason for coming by then.”

The cyclops calmly straightens his tie and turns his attention back to the goat, his expression or lack thereof betraying no hint to his reasons for being here yet. “Former Queen Toriel. Yes. There is a balance, in existence. An equilibrium to all chaos, even if it appears otherwise. Few are allowed the knowledge of this, due to my employers fear that this knowledge Could and Would upset the sensitive scales of space and time.” Whoever this bureaucrat is, he sure is taking his time getting to why he’s here. The status of Queen should’ve been common knowledge for anyone underground, so he might be from elsewhere. Or elsewhen…

The giant wasn’t moving, he was just standing in front of the lab. Apparently, waiting, in the sweltering heat, with papers in hand. They thrust the resume forward, attempting confidence, but maybe coming off as aggressive. Again, no words. No other movement. Nothing but palatable expectation.

O-Ok ok, I’ll take it…

*Alphys took the papers with shaky hands and stared at the monster for a moment before looking through them. She had no idea why they had come to her with a resume. She never advertised any jobs or anything.*

The monster stands up even straighter, and steeples his blunt fingertips together as his block head bends slightly downward, casting shadow across his… lack of a face. It seems they are very expectant, in a reserved fashion. The looming wall of blue’s resume lists experience as hotel security for the MTT Resort, professor of the fine arts at Home University, and couples counseling. The first job history was probably a given, and why they were here.

S-So, um., by the looks of it you want to be the security guard for this place, right? P-Please correct me if I’m wrong…i-if you can even do that…

*She looked back up at the monster, still a little unsure about them. Again, Alphys had never advertised any interest of having security at her lab, since most of the security was automated. Although, it might help a bit to have someone look over it all. Especially with how busy she was.*
