i think dean is the type of guy who kinda falls in love with every stranger that’s nice to him because he’s been so deprived of attention his whole life that he clings to any scrap of affection he receives like an excited puppy. and then as an adult he figures out the way to get people to pay attention to him is to sleep with them or start a fight. so for him to go from being more or less friendless his entire life to having a deeply intimate long term bond with a guy who has (and will continue to) die for him is insane. like falling in love with cas is a foregone conclusion here. however dean has no idea what “having” a “friend” actually means so he’s unironically like well yeah I think cas is hot and I would definitely hold his hand and sleep with him. I’m not gonna but it’s normal to think that. we’re literally best friends
