Welcome to Born Again Books! We’re a bookstore based in Brooklyn and we specialise in second hand Christian literature! We don’t care if you’re a Catholic or an atheist, we welcome everyone in our store who takes an interest in Christian literature!

We are a small bookshop and we are:

Jess Barnes (no relation to Bucky Barnes) - I’m the owner! I do not belong to a particular branch of Christianity. I have my own relationship with the Lord, and I don’t believe that one has to be a regular church goer to be a true Christian. You just have to follow the word of Jesus.

Ashley - I’m the janitor! I look after the place and clean up and stack shelves. I’m a Presbyterian and I champion social justice causes because that’s what Jesus Christ would want me to do.

Jose - I handle the finances, treasury, and stock. I’m a Catholic. Originally from PR. I don’t feel I’m doing much with my business degree, but Born Again Books is a passion.

We’re trying to rebuild after a teen Deadpool girl and a red Carnage dog attacked and trashed the place, ruining our store, our windows, and our products. If you have any money, or used Christian books to spare, we wouldn’t turn them down. They’d go to a great cause!

Hi, nice to meet you. I heard about this place in the paper, something about it being destroyed. I don't know the damage, but it looks nice now. I know I'm late, but if you're still accepting donations I'd be more than happy to chip in.

‘Such a shame about the vigilantes tearing this place up. But the community outreach has been strong. That’s how we were able to rebuild so quickly. And yes, we’re always accepting donations! We’re a second hand bookstore, after all. We specialise in Christian literature, but it’s not all we sell.’

We hope everyone had a blessed Easter. Chocolate eggs are fun, but we must remember to keep focus this time of year on Jesus and his teachings.

On another note, we are announcing the reopening of our shop, Born Again Books!

As you know by now our store was destroyed just before Christmas by a vigilante dressed as Deadpool and a Carnage dog. But with the help of the community through donations of money, books, and time, we have rebuilt and we will be reopening on Friday!

So come along to the shop on Friday morning April 10th at 9:30am! We will have events all day until closing at 6:pm. We hope to see you there!

thoughts on mutants?

We’re fine with mutants. They’re all children of the Lord. And some of them are valued customers. As long as they don’t rip up our shop, they’re more than welcome inside.

We ask that all vigilantes take off their masks before entering. Exceptions are made for medical masks. This is for identification reasons, following the attack on our bookstore a few weeks ago.

Ah, hello! If you could give a brief description of what you saw, or something else we could fit in the paper, that would be great.

Alright, here’s what happened.

I was just minding my own business at the counter of my bookshop. A girl dressed as Deadpool walked in. I thought nothing of it at first. She asked if we had bibles and I pointed them out. She put Holy Water on a Bible and said something about fighting vampires. I told her not to damage the books because she hadn’t paid for them.

An adult man walked in and the girl grabbed the self help books and threw them at the man, a potential customer, ranting about Scientology. A window was smashed, myself, my colleague Ashley, and the potential customer were all injured when books were thrown, shelves were knocked over. And a giant red Venom dog came bounding in out of nowhere and destroyed more of the shop. Three bibles were taken. By the girl and the dog.

I can provide descriptions of the girl and the dog as well.

And if it helps, my name is Jess. My colleagues are Ashley and Jose.

'Mkay. This is good. Could you give those descriptions?

The girl was about 5’3”. She was wearing a black and red Deadpool costume. It was black from her waist to her knees, red just about everywhere else, except for some trim and around the eyes. And her costume had a hood and a mask, but somehow she still had black or dark brown hair flowing out. She also had a brown jacket as well, with Taskmaster’s symbol on it. You know the villain Taskmaster? I don’t know if he was involved but I wouldn’t be surprised.

The dog was about 10 foot high and about that long as well. It was red and had like tentacles coming from it. It also had a collar and a leash. And a black nose, white eyes, black around the eyes, and very scary pointed teeth. Rows of them. Like a shark. Pointed ears, like a cat. It looked furry as well. I don’t know if it was, I wasn’t about to touch it. Oh and it could talk.
