Happy Valentine's Day!

A little bit of a throwback to celebrate today with the ship that started it all and changed my life forever. Rest assured that they are still together and fucking on every available surface.

They have also endured through AUs, as they are still together in the universe of Saints Row (2022), the major difference there is that Yuri fell first.

I hope those of y'all who were there at the time remember the pining.

BTW I think we should focus more on Embracer deliberately picking the last day of the month to shut down Volition so they wouldn't have to pay for their health insurance for September

And not to mention announcing this exactly the moment Starfield embargo ended, hoping that the hype and news coverage of Starfield would bury the news that they shut down one of their more popular studios

BTW reboot wasn't even selling poorly and was predicted to be "decently profitable".

The reason they decided to fire 200+ devs wasn't because of reboot's failure, but because they were supposed to have a deal with Saudi Arabia that fell through, so now they gotta fire thousands of employees to make up for the fact that they lost billions in acquiring studios cause they counted on earning back that money from Saudi Arabia deal.

Volition is the 2nd studio Embracer shut down this month, and Gearbox was also hit by massive layoffs cause of Embracer.

Gotta love monopolies!

I'm not even exagerating that Volition changed my life. I owe my entire circle of friend to making this angry looking man in Saints Row the Third one evening. I can't even imagine what my life would be without them.

I hope the Volition team can find a good secure place to work at. We've lost a lot of studios to restructurings like this this year, and as someone who works in the industry it's hard to not feel bummed out about all of these, but this one hit particularely hard.

In today's play session, Yuri gets fired (again), the Saints become A Thing, we learn a great thing about combining emotes, and test out co-op with Ten uwu

I was able to take my save files from my Epic folders and transfer them to the Steam version without problems!

I created a new Steam game first, then backed those up somewhere. I turned off Steam cloud, Then I replaced the files with all my epic saves. I ended up just keeping the latest Epic save, and then brought back the "new" Steam saves I had.

Once that was done I turned steam cloud back on. It will ask you which files you wanna keep, and you keep the newest ones on your pc. Ta-da!

Now armed with my story complete Epic save I was able to load up Yuri's saved appearance which was a life saver because I did not remember which cheeks/jaw/chin I had been using and he looked completely wrong lmao.

So now I have my 89% Epic save file around to fuck with if I feel like it, and my new Steam save to play through the story and get the achievements and take new screenshots. I'm not sure what I'm gonna do once I reach the same level of progress with the Steam save, bc I have a lot of cars and collectibles. One one hand I could merge them once I finish the story but I'll probably just redo all activities and stuff for achievements.

Now I'm not sure how it interacts with multiplayer and whatnot but the file types appeared to be the exact same, so I don't expect to be problems but if you try this, it's at your own risk! So far the only con is that obviously you don't have any achievements unlocked unless you replay the whole thing but I expected that.

Happy Steam release day, finally! I'm gonna replay through the whole story and get so many more screenshots! Pretty excited about that.

Tried out the new selfie mode! Unfortunately it doesn't have an actual taking a selfie thing à la Yakuza Kiwami 2 which i would've liked a lot, but I think I might be able to find an emote+camera angle combo that works.

It's got some pretty powerful camera settings though! Gonna make taking screenshots a lot easier because my current shortcut makes Yuri dodge roll and activate a skill which doesn't work very well with screenshotting lmao

Modern Yuri's bf issss….* drum roll * Mer!

Yup they're still a thing!

Was talking with Ten about SRV sometime and he mentioned he wouldn't be playing SRV as Mer, but we are both still very enthusiastic about the two of them being together so he's around in Yuri's world.

Big difference with the originals is that they're already together when the story start (maybe a few years?). They don't live together yet (bc of course Yuri is Neenah, Kev and Eli's roommate). Not entirely sure how they met, but it probably wasn't a year long of pining and crushes and confusion and near kisses this time lmao

I think Modern Yuri is more afraid to disappoint than Classic Yuri and he especially doesn't want to disappoint his bf by fucking up. He thinks Mer is cool and nice and pretty and talented, while Yuri's just...himself and he's like "Shit I gotta step up" sdfsg. Mer loves him no matter what I think.

Mer still performs in clubs, and Yuri sometimes wait for him to be done outside and then they spend the rest of the night together. Mer supports his bf's criminal ventures of course but he might have side-eyed the dilapidated church (there's dirt everywhere...). I assume he becomes a Saint too if Ten's cool with it. Maybe he performs at the Church when its renovated sometimes!

They have a very loving relationship but they've both been kinda busy through the plot of SRV so they haven't had the time to hang out as much but they always make time, and I think Mer checks up on the church regularly. Also making sure Yuri's still alive lmao.

Taken a liking to using Sonic terminology to refer to the two incarnations of my Saints Row Boss lmao

Having a solid group of friends from the get-go in SRV does wonders for his temperament, but you really still shouldn't cross him.

And to be fair to Modern Yuri in terms of his experience, he's a lot younger. He'll get there.
