i hate you private jets i hate you bitcoin i hate you cars that go 200 mph i hate you golf parks i hate you yachts i hate you huge mansions with a pool i hate you luxery resorts i hate you exessive wealth causally killing the planet and using up ressources we all need
āokay but itās their money! They can decide how to spend it!ā Yeah okay but itās our atmosphere! and water! and no amount of wealth should give you free reign over that!
everyone be nice to the living things we share this world with Now. yes this includes bugs and plants that annoy you. no this does not mean you cant hurt anything ever. but it does mean donāt be cruel about it and donāt say mean things about them.
stop fucking using the word psychotic to describe bad behaviour and violence already god fucking damn it
oh my god i'm so tired psychotic does not mean violent it does not mean angry or erratic. it refers to a person suffering from psychosis, a loss of touch with reality that includes hallucinations and/or delusions. psychotic people are not inherently violent and y'all need to understand how much stigma you create when you again and again incorrectly use the word psychotic without even thinking about it
would appreciate if non-psychotic people could reblog this
whats it like being a plant biologist?
i spent most of today walking in the woods, taking notes on restored orchids, and yelling out "HOO DEE HOO DEE HOOOOOOO"
being a humanities major whoās friends with stem majors is so funny because youāll ask your friends what theyāre doing today and theyāre like āUGH itās so stressful i have to stabilize the reactor core for my nuclear power midterm and then i have to build the supercomputer from i have no mouth yet i must scream for my electrical engineering homework :/ what about youā and youāre like āoh well i have to read a fun little book and write an essay about gender.ā and they still think you have it worse
Being a stem major who's friends with humanities majors is ALSO funny bc you ask what's goin on with them and they're like "oh yeah my day's pretty good! I only have to read 50 pages for this one class today and half a book for another one. It's much better than last week where I read three books and wrote a 10 page paper about their overlapping motifs for one class while also researching a niche period of time that our library doesn't have any resources on. How's it been for you?" and you're like "oh I have a lil packet of fun math puzzles due tomorrow." and they look at you like you're carrying the weight of the universe on your back
This is your reminder that just because something falls within the skillset you've practiced, so you can do it and you don't find it particularly hard or stressful relative to other things, it doesn't mean it isn't actually hard work you should be proud of yourself for accomplishing!
this applies to writing and art, too
Funny how that works
I am so pleased at how many notes are some version of āI donāt fear the science, I fear the corporations who control itā because that is EXACTLY the attitude you should have. GMOs can save us. Monsanto will kill us.
what people fear about GMO- ātheyre gonna make frankencarrots that crave human flesh and cause diarrhea ā what GMO actually is- āwe made rice crop that is both drought resistant and flood resistant which will prevent about 20% of major famine disasters, also it now makes vitamin A because vitamin A deficiency in poverty stricken areas is a major killer of kids as most vitamin A rich foods dont grow thereā what people SHOULD be upset about- āi made all crops sterile so all farmers have to buy the seed from me in perpetuity and i will sue anyone who tries to go back to crops that produce their own seedā
People who cannot find beauty in every biome on earth are incredibly bizarre to me. "yeah this place is really beautiful but this place isnt :/". what the fuck are you talking about. start admiring that rock and that tree and that bug and that scrubby little plant and that weird animal and that extreme weather right now. im not telling you to go live there but please you gotta start enjoying all kinds of nature im begging you.

To be anti-imperialist is to be pro-environment
A lot of people still donāt understand me when I say that reversing desertification is a good thing. They think I hate deserts
Let me put it this way. I really like the ocean. However I donāt think itās a good thing for the ocean to flood inland destroying ecosystems and villages because some of the natural hills that kept it at bay have been mined away. Me building a dam to keep the ocean away to bring back some of the natural barrier that was lost isnāt me trying to destroy the ocean. Itās me keeping the ocean out of my goddamned ecosystem where it isnāt meant to be anyways.
People planting new trees and grasslands on the edge of the Sahara desert arenāt trying to get rid of the entire desert. Theyāre replacing the natural root systems that kept the soil from blowing away that have been eaten away by overgrazing. Theyāre replacing the natural barrier that keeps the desert in its goddamned place.
Okay but that's not what it sounds like without context. It sounds like "I want to remove deserts" to anyone unfamiliar with the idea
It's not op's fault the people they're talking about are unwilling to search up and learn the meaning of a word lol. They're also actively providing context in this post for the uninformed
This is your brain on anti-vaccine propaganda.
honestly hell yeah save me the pharmacy trip and needle stab appointment.
vaccines in food would make them easier to store and distribute.
i want my vaccines in snack form.
I genuinely think that employee who lit the toilet paper warehouse on fire in Ontario, CA just gave us the most unhinged, late-stage capitalism version of the Boston Tea Party imaginable. Like⦠thatās not a normal escalation. Thatās not ābad day at workā behavior. Thatās āsomething is deeply broken and people are past the point of coping quietly.ā
You donāt get to arson as a first step. Thatās what happens when anger has been building with nowhere to go, when people feel ignored, squeezed, and disposable for way too long. Itās messy, itās extreme, and itās definitely not random. It feels like a signal flare.
Not saying this is *the* moment, but it sure as hell feels like the kind of thing that only starts happening when people are done playing along.
There have been multiple warehouse fires across the US this weekend. All of the videos about them are filled with people repeating what he said. People are behind the idea and want to see more. We know the only way to hurt them is to get at the money and warehouses going up in flames cost a lot of money.
wait, i wanna know more abt these other fires but im not finding much amongst all the Kimberly-Clark articles
NEW EARTH PHOTO JUST DROPPED FROM ARTEMIS II
thats my home
you can see the atmosphere. that halo around the edge, that's my air. the green on the upper right is my aurora. those are my clouds, my sunlight.
and its yours! this is your home. this is the home of everyone you ever heard of and everyone you will ever meet. every animal you've been curious about. every plant you've ever picked, and sniffed. its mine and its yours and its theirs. everything is here. its all that i have. its all that you have too.
I am pro-accredited aquariums and zoos. My posts critiquing the animal rights movement are blowing up right now and I just want to come out and say definitively that I appreciate zoos and aquariums allowing the public to view wild animals without potentially disturbing them in their natural habitat or resorting to the illegal exotic pet trade. It is valuable for conservation purposes and many aquariums/zoos take unreleasable wildlife and host breeding programs for endangered species. They are not just institutions for human amusement, they are integral to maintaining public interest and studying the ecology and biology of the animals contained within.
science has always been political. what gets studied. what doesnt. who gets to do the studying. on and on and on.
scientists on this post: yuuuup š
