also, is anyone else a little annoyed at how wonderful the opening of Death Parade is?? Wonderfully misleading i mean bc lets be real, I really just wanted some episodes where they were doing all that fun shit and dickin around
like i love all the serious psychological stuff and the humor in there too but also
decim and chiyuki dancing to some funky music but chiyuki having to teach him the slower dances bc its more about feeling than poise or
ginti facing decim off using the death games (twister!! imagine decim’s grim face in the strange body positions omg) so that he doesn’t incur the wrath of nona or
chiyuki trying to teach decim how to ice skate but finding him to be very stiff and spaghetti legs on ice and then decim’s spider threads get involved and it’s just a huge disaster from that point or
ginti meeting chiyuki and it’s just terrible and they argue all the damn time and is decim is actually sighing or
more of castra and quin having pastries and alcohol at nona’s home but then clavis blabs about it to everyone and suddenly they’re all at her house and nona is so close to losing her shit and kicking everyone out but she endures it bc she’s mom or
karaoke night is just a bad night for everyone involved (except for nona… and clavis holy shit he can hit those high notes) or
everyone just getting shitfaced and hilarity and awkwardness ensues or
quin gossiping with castra about all kinds of shit (”for fucks sake, when is nona’s boy going to man up and confront chiyuki?? that one eyed dweeb” “should we even be encouraging this…” or
nona owning everyone at DDR or
everyone going on this huge manhunt to find memine bc she decided that it’d be cool to jack one of the remote things and it’s creating extreme(ly embarrassing) situations for every single one of them or
ginti + alcohol + 70s night = best (or worst) combination ever or
chiyuki convincing decim to use his spider threads so that everyone can experience a flying swings ride bc what else are they for
Okay, but like can we talk about what an amazing anime Death Parade is?
The plot is clean and well written
The females are all amazing and not over sexualized
They have different personalities and different roles (Nona is the BOSS of the entire operation. Not Decim or Ginti or Clavis or Oculus)
None of them are dependent on males.
Their motivations are purely their own
Shows breastfeeding (Twice!! Like holy shit good for you DP)
Shows depression and suicide in a very real sense
Encourages being proud of the life you lived or are living, no matter how meaningless it may seem sometimes
It touches on so many real-world issues, rape, murder, abuse, suicide, etc. while also keeping them realistic and not romanticizing them
It shows that any number of things can cause someone to be depressed, an important fact many need to learn
Shows mortality, and how fleeting it is
Straight up says that HUMANS ARE NOT FIT TO JUDGE OTHER HUMANS
The Opening is FUCKING AMAZING
Episode 11 like holy fuck
The animation is fluid and beautiful
Clavis is such a cutie and his hair is amazing
It will make you cry but that’s okay
It never had a manga?? Like that just astounds me but in a good way??
Decim is a lovely creature and you will love him
The ending is very sad but it ends in a rounded manner
Both the dub and the sub voices are A+
Beautiful OST, beautiful music in general
The only things that bothered me:
There isn’t much racial diversity represented, not even in guests at Quindecim
They never told much of Quin or Castra’s stories and that bothers me a little more than it probably should
I wish a gay couple had shown up at Quindecim after dying and then both had gone to heaven/reincarnation but hey that’s just me
Both Takashi and Machiko should’ve gone to the void christ I hate them
It made me want a galaxy billiards table which I am 80% certain does not exist
No kisses? Like I guess I would’ve liked at least one between Decim and Onna
It was kind of fucked up but like in a good way? I’m not sure which column to put this comment in tbh
